FirstOntario Concert Hall

The Hamilton Convention Centre is a full service convention, exhibition, and event facility located in downtown Hamilton, Ontario. The convention centre was designed by local architect Trevor P. Garwood-Jones and was constructed in 1981 along with the connected Ellen Fairclough Building as part of a large urban renewal project that was occurring in the Hamilton downtown core at the time. In 2013, Carmen's Group acquired the rights to operate the Hamilton Convention Centre, and the facility underwent over $1 million in renovations.The Hamilton Convention Centre/Ellen Fairclough Building, at 94 m (308 ft) tall, is currently the 5th tallest building in Hamilton, Ontario, and is directly connected to FirstOntario Concert Hall, the Art Gallery of Hamilton, Lloyd D. Jackson Square, and the Sheraton Hamilton Hotel.

Ellen Fairclough Building (French: Édifice Ellen-Fairclough) is an 18-storey (94 m) high-rise office building built in 1981. It is the 5th tallest building in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. It is situated on the corner of King Street West and MacNab Street South, and is primarily used to house provincial government offices. The building was first known as the Convention Centre when it first opened up in 1981. One year later in 1982, it was renamed the Ellen Fairclough Building. Ellen Fairclough was a Hamiltonian and the first female member of the Canadian Cabinet. Ellen Fairclough served under John Diefenbaker for 13 years in Parliament. She advocated for gender equality and fairer immigration policy. She died at 99 in 2004.The Hamilton Convention Centre occupies the first 3 floors of this office tower (with the exception of the Ellen Fairclough Building's lobby and the shared loading dock, both located on the ground floor), and it is attached to the Art Gallery of Hamilton and FirstOntario Concert Hall. There is also an enclosed pedestrian bridge that crosses over King Street and attaches to the Lloyd D. Jackson Square mall and the Sheraton Hamilton hotel. The government building is also home to a courthouse and a citizenship & immigration office.

The Art Gallery of Hamilton (AGH) is an art museum located in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. The museum occupies a 7,000 square metres (75,000 sq ft) building on King Street West in downtown Hamilton, designed by Trevor P. Garwood-Jones. The institution is southwestern Ontario's largest and oldest art museum. The museum was established as the Municipal Gallery of Hamilton in January 1914, and was opened to the public in June 1914, at a Hamilton Public Library building on Main Street West. The museum continued to operate from that location until 1953, when the museum relocated to a new building in the neighbourhood of Westdale. In 1977, the museum moved to its present King Street West location. The museum building was renovated with designs by Bruce Kuwabara from 2003 to 2005. The Art Gallery of Hamilton's permanent collection has over 10,000 works by artists from Canada, and around the world. In addition to exhibiting works from its collection, the museum has also organized, and hosted a number of travelling exhibitions.

Race Hamilton, also known as the Labatt's Hamilton Championship, was a 1978 auto race held in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada featuring a round of the Formula Atlantic Labatt Championship Series. The event featured future driving stars Bobby Rahal, Keke Rosberg and Danny Sullivan competing for $10,000 in first-place prize money.The race took place on August 7 on a 2.092 km (1.30 miles), 10 turn temporary street circuit in downtown Hamilton with the start/finish line located between the Hamilton City Hall and the Art Gallery of Hamilton.The race attracted an estimated 60,000 fans, half of those watched for free from the roofs of surrounding buildings and by breaking down barriers. After a five-hour delay due to insurance issues with the safety barriers around the course, only 39 of the scheduled 73 laps took place due to darkness. Only 16 of the 29 cars entered, completed the race.

The Robert Thomson Building is a 9-storey low-rise office building in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. The building was completed in 1977, and is part of the Lloyd D. Jackson Square complex. The building is still officially known as the Robert Thomson Building, but some signage refers to the building by its address, 110 King Street West.

Sheraton Hamilton, built in 1985, is a 19-storey, 76 metres (249 ft), 299 room hotel in downtown Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Situated on King Street West, East of Bay Street North, the hotel is part of the Lloyd D. Jackson Square complex. The hotel has 1,200 square metres (13,000 sq. feet) of meeting space, and direct connections to FirstOntario Centre, the Hamilton Convention Centre/Ellen Fairclough Building and Lloyd D. Jackson Square. In September 2008, the hotel underwent about $10 million in renovations, and changed ownership to local developer Darko Vranich and his Burlington-based company, Vrancor Group.

Hamilton City Hall is the chief administrative building for the city of Hamilton. Located in the downtown core, it is an 8-storey building (34.0 m) at the corner of Main Street West and Bay Street South, across the street from the FirstOntario Concert Hall and the Art Gallery of Hamilton. It was officially opened on November 21, 1960. This international style of architecture was designed by architect Stanley Roscoe. Construction was carried out by the Pigott Construction Company, at a cost of 9.4 million dollars.

Whitehern Historic House and Garden in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, built shortly before 1850, is a Late Classical house that is now a historic house museum. At one time, Whitehern was the home of the McQuesten family, including Mary Baker McQuesten and Thomas McQuesten. His historic downtown family home was willed to the City of Hamilton, after the death of the last of his five unmarried siblings in 1968. It is situated on the corner of Jackson Street West and MacNab Street South, just east of the Hamilton City Hall and behind the Canadian Football Hall of Fame museum. After its restoration was complete in 1971, Whitehern has been open as a civic museum and has occasionally served as a period film location. It was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1962. An Ontario Historical Plaque was erected by the province to commemorate Whitehern's role in Ontario's heritage. Among the many Hamilton civic leaders and boosters, McQuesten helped encourage McMaster University to relocate from downtown Toronto to west Hamilton in 1930, and was instrumental in the creation of the Royal Botanical Gardens.

100 King Street West, formerly known as Stelco Tower, is the third tallest building in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. The 103 metres (338 ft), 25-storey office skyscraper was completed in 1972, and is part of the larger Lloyd D. Jackson Square complex.

The Pigott Building is an 18-storey (210 feet or 64 metres) condominium building located at 36 James Street South in downtown Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. This Art Deco/Gothic Revival style building was designed by Hamilton architects Bernard and Fred Prack and is designated under the Ontario Heritage Act.Built for $1,000,000, The Pigott Building was originally an office building and was Hamilton's first skyscraper. Named after the construction company that built it, the Pigott Construction Company, many of Hamilton's landmarks were built by the company. Some of these include the Canadian Westinghouse offices, the Bank of Montreal Building (1928) on James Street North, McMaster University (1930), Westdale Secondary School (1931), Cathedral of Christ the King (1933), the Burlington Bay James N. Allan Skyway bridge (1958), Hamilton City Hall (1960) and Copps Coliseum (1985) on York & Bay Streets.Pigott also built some of Canada's largest industrial plants and finest buildings: the Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto; Skylon Tower at Niagara Falls, Crown Life Insurance Company head office, Toronto; Bank of Canada, Ottawa; a plant for General Motors, Oshawa, and buildings for A. V. Roe Company in Malton. It was at this location that the Canadian Club Movement had its beginning on December 6, 1892.

The building was originally named the Standard Life Centre, after the Standard Life Assurance Company of Canada, one of the companies responsible for the development of the Jackson Square complex.
