The Tales of Robin Hood was from 1989 to 2009 an indoor visitor attraction and medieval banqueting centre based on the Nottinghamshire legend of Robin Hood. The centre was located on Maid Marian Way in Nottingham City Centre, in the vicinity of Nottingham Castle, and brought an estimated £2 million in tourism revenue to the city each year.Visitors were taken on a chair-lift ride through a recreation of medieval Nottingham with its sights, sounds and smells in addition to Robin Hood's hideout in medieval Sherwood Forest. Archery and brass rubbing were also on offer and a cinema show investigated the legend of Robin Hood. The centre's 'Great Hall' offered medieval banquets through the year.The attraction was forced to close in January 2009, after 20 years of business, due to difficulties with rent payments to its landlord, Tesco.

Newdigate House is a Grade II* listed building on Castle Gate, Nottingham. The house was built for Thomas Charlton the younger, of Chilwell. He sold it in 1683 to Samuel Staples of Nottingham who leased it to Camille d'Hostun, duc de Tallard who was effectively kept prisoner in it from 1705 to 1711 after defeat in the Battle of Blenheim in 1704.In 1716 the house was sold to Thomas Newdigate, the 6th son of Sir Richard Newdigate, 1st Baronet of Arbury Hall, Warwickshire. He commissioned Francis Foulgham to make the wrought-iron screen and gates which survive at the front of the house, enclosing the court yard. It was lived in by subsequent members of the Newdigate family until 1790 when it was sold to Mrs Thomas Wright. She arranged for William Stretton to make some changes. The house was sold again in 1817. In 1905 the building was being used by W. Lee, Antiques Dealer, and was put up for sale.In 1915 the house was used by the Domestic Workers’ Sub-Committee of the War Relief Fund as an office.In 1960 the house became the United Services Club, and is now part of World Service restaurant.

The Old Market Square (Slab Square) is an open, pedestrianised city square in Nottingham, England, forming the heart of the city, and covering an area of approximately 12,000 square metres (130,000 sq ft), or about 3 acres. It is one of the largest paved squares in the United Kingdom. Located in the heart of Nottingham City Centre, the square is bounded by Beastmarket Hill to the West, Long Row to the North, and South Parade to the South. The Eastern end of the square is dominated by the Council House, which served as Nottingham's town hall until 2010, when the administration moved to the newly acquired Loxley House on Station Street. The nature of the square means it is often used for large local events, fairs, concerts and exhibitions.
