Hawthorne Christian Academy (HCA) is a private, co-educational Christian school serving students in preschool through 12th grade. The Academy is run by the Hawthorne Gospel Church, and is located on Route 208 in Hawthorne, New Jersey, United States. The school opened in 1981 and had its first graduating class eight years later.As of the 2019–20 school year, the school had an enrollment of 359 students (plus 40 in PreK) and 43.3 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 8.3:1. The school's student body was 48.5% (174) White, 21.2% (76) Asian, 17.0% (61) Hispanic, 11.1% (40) Black, 1.4% (5) Native Hawaiian / Pacific Islander, 0.6% (2) two or more races and 0.3% (1) American Indian / Alaska Native.HCA has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools since 1996 and is accredited until January 2024. The school has been accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International since 1981.

Goffle Hill, also referred to as Goffle Mountain and historically known as Totoway Mountain and Wagaraw Mountain, is a range of the trap rock Watchung Mountains on the western edge of the Newark Basin in northern New Jersey. The hill straddles part of the border of Bergen County and Passaic County, underlying a mostly suburban setting. While hosting patches of woodlands, perched wetlands, and traprock glades, the hill is largely unprotected from development. Extensive quarrying for trap rock has obliterated large tracts of the hill in North Haledon, and Prospect Park. Conservation efforts seeking to preserve undeveloped land, such as the local Save the Woods initiative (2007–present), are ongoing.

The John W. Rea House is located in Hawthorne, Passaic County, New Jersey, United States. The house was built in 1810 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 17, 1999.

North Hawthorne, known as North Paterson when originally constructed, was a rail station and yard located in Hawthorne, Passaic County, New Jersey. The facility, which was equipped with car and engine shops, served passengers and freight for both the Erie Railroad and the New York, Susquehanna and Western Railroad from 1892 to 1966. Passenger service from North Hawthorne primarily transported commuters to and from the Susquehanna Transfer station in North Bergen or the Erie Railroad's Pavonia Terminal in Jersey City. Connecting service included the now defunct Public Service Railway, which at one time used North Hawthorne as the terminus of a trolley line connecting Hawthorne to Paterson. Once a sizable complex with multiple spurs and sidings for surrounding industries, North Hawthorne has been reduced to a single runaround siding. Every structure associated with the yard has been demolished, except for the roundhouse, which today is owned by private interests.

Hawthorne is a borough in Passaic County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the borough's population was 19,637, an increase of 846 (+4.5%) from the 2010 census count of 18,791, which in turn reflected an increase of 573 (+3.1%) from the 18,218 counted in the 2000 census.Hawthorne was originally part of the now-defunct Manchester Township, which was later subdivided to create Hawthorne, Haledon, North Haledon, Prospect Park, Totowa, The Heights/Columbia Heights District of Fair Lawn and most of the First Ward of Paterson. The Borough of Hawthorne was incorporated from portions of Manchester Township by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 24, 1898. The borough was named for novelist Nathaniel Hawthorne.

Cairns-Whitten-Blauvelt House is a historic house located in Wyckoff, Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. Built in 1770 by Douglas Cairns, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 10, 1983.

Hawthorne High School is a four-year comprehensive public high school that serves students in 9th through twelfth grades from Hawthorne, in Passaic County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey.The school operates as the lone secondary school of the Hawthorne Public Schools. As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 616 students and 58.7 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 10.5:1. The Van Horn-Ackerman House, is located in Wyckoff, Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 10, 1983. The house was built in 1745 by Barent Van Horn and is referred to as a telescope house because of the way it starts as a small house and larger additions were built later.

The John C. Stagg House, is located in Wyckoff, Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The home was built in 1812 by John C. Stagg on the foundation of a former house that was built by his father, Cornelius Stagg. John Stagg operated a grocery store out of the basement of the house. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 10, 1983.

Kings Pond Park, including the associated Gypsy Pond Park, is a public, municipal park spanning close to the entire length of Goffle Brook through the village of Ridgewood in Bergen County, New Jersey. It is the second largest wildscape in the village of Ridgewood and one of the larger wooded areas along the lower Bergen-Passaic border.
