St. Mary Coptic Orthodox Church (Los Angeles)

Northeast Los Angeles (abbreviated NELA) is a 17.18 sq mi (44.5 km2) region of Los Angeles County, comprising seven neighborhoods within Los Angeles. The area is home to Occidental College located in Eagle Rock.

The York Manor is a private event space, wedding venue, production rental facility, and a historic site in Highland Park, Los Angeles, California. The building's architects were Robert Train and Edmund Williams; it opened in 1913, originally housing a Methodist congregation. In 1936, the site became the "York Boulevard Church of Christ." The building was left empty in the late 1990s/early 2000s and acquired damage from disuse. In 2013 the building was leased by a music promoter and minimally renovated to become The Church on York Performing Arts Space. In May 2014 the City of Los Angeles forced the venue to shut down due to noise complaints, lack of permits, and underage drinking.The building was then acquired by Extraordinary Living – A Real Estate Collective, who described it as being "in an extremely neglected condition and needed a complete overhaul." The entire building underwent a full-scale renovation which provided modern conveniences while preserving historical details and fixtures. In 2014 the Cultural Heritage Commission of Los Angeles named the building as an official historical landmark, and it was reopened as The York Manor in the fall of 2015. The facility is now used for a variety of private functions including weddings, receptions, parties, anniversaries, baby showers, photo shoots, conferences, workshops, 501(c)(3) fundraisers, etc. The venue also includes a separate downstairs space called The Rembrandt, a "theater style club" available as an additional or standalone rental for performances.

Benjamin Franklin High School (FHS) is a public high school in the Highland Park neighborhood, approximately seven miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles, California, United States. It is part of the Los Angeles Unified School District. First established in 1916 with an enrollment of 225 students, the school currently educates approximately 1,400 students.It was in the Los Angeles City High School District until 1961, when it merged into LAUSD.

Occidental College (informally Oxy) is a private liberal arts college in Los Angeles, California. Founded in 1887 as a coeducational college by clergy and members of the Presbyterian Church, it became non-sectarian in 1910. It is one of the oldest liberal arts colleges on the West Coast of the United States. Occidental's current 120-acre (49 ha) campus is located in Eagle Rock, Los Angeles, and was designed by architect Myron Hunt. Due to its proximity to Hollywood and its architecture, the campus is frequently used as a filming location for film and television productions. Occidental is a founding member of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and its 20 varsity sports teams compete in NCAA Division III. The college's curriculum emphasizes diversity, global literacy, and civic engagement.Notable alumni include a President of the United States (Barack Obama), a Cabinet member, several members of the United States Congress, CEOs of notable companies, 10 Rhodes Scholars, and recipients of the Nobel Prize, Pulitzer Prize, Academy Award, BAFTA Award, and Emmy Award.

Academia Avance Charter (AA) is a public charter middle and high school in the Highland Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, approximately seven miles northeast of downtown. It is part of the Los Angeles County Board of Education and chartered through the California State Board of Education. First established in 2005 with an enrollment of 100 students, Academia Avance has since grown to a student body of approximately 350 students from grades six to twelve across two campuses: a middle school location by Sycamore Grove Park and a high school location in the basement of a Presbyterian church at North Avenue 53 and Figueroa Street.In 2017, Academia Avance gained international media attention after an eighth grade student filmed ICE agents arresting her undocumented father Rómulo Avelica as he was dropping her and her sister off at the middle school campus. The video eventually went viral and sparked widespread outcry among critics of United States immigration policy. Through the efforts of immigrants' rights activists, Avelica was freed from detention that same year.On October 15, 2019, the Los Angeles Unified School District denied the renewal of Academia Avance's Charter stating that "the charter school presents an unsound educational program for the pupils to be enrolled in the charter school." On March 12, 2020, the California State Board of Education approved the renewal of Academia Avance's charter. The current charter will enable the school to continue operating until the end of the 2024–2025 school year.

The Southwest Museum of the American Indian is a museum, library, and archive located in the Mt. Washington neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, above the north-western bank of the Arroyo Seco (Los Angeles County) canyon and stream. The museum is owned by the Autry Museum of the American West. Its collections deal mainly with Native Americans. It also has an extensive collection of pre-Hispanic, Spanish colonial, Latino, and Western American art and artifacts. Major collections had included American Indians of the Great Plains, American Indians of California, and American Indians of the Northwest Coast. Most of those materials were moved off-site, but the Southwest Museum has maintained an ongoing public exhibition on Pueblo pottery, open free of charge.The Metro L Line stops down the hill from the museum at the Southwest Museum station. About a block from the L Line stop is an entrance on Museum Drive that opens to a long tunnel formerly filled with dioramas, since removed by the Autry Museum and placed in storage. At the end of the tunnel is an elevator to the museum's lower lobby.

Temple Beth Israel of Highland Park and Eagle Rock is an egalitarian synagogue located at 5711 Monte Vista Street in Highland Park, Los Angeles, California. Though originally a Conservative synagogue, it is unaffiliated with any Jewish religious movements.First organized as the Highland Park Hebrew School Association in 1923, it completed construction of its Spanish Colonial Revival style building in 1930, at a cost of $4,077.88 (today $66,000). It is the second oldest synagogue in Los Angeles still operating in its original location, after the Wilshire Boulevard Temple (built in 1929).

Southwest Museum station is an at-grade light rail station on the L Line of the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. It is located near the intersection of Marmion Way at Museum Drive in the Mount Washington neighborhood of Los Angeles. The station opened on July 26, 2003, as part of the original Gold Line, then known as the "Pasadena Metro Blue Line" project. The station is named after the nearby historic Southwest Museum which is located a short walk up from the station on Museum Drive and also features an enhanced architectural design, called Highland Park Gateway, created by artists Teddy Sandoval and Paul Polubinskas. This station and all the other original and Foothill Extension stations will be part of the A Line upon completion of the Regional Connector project in 2023.

The Highland Park Masonic Temple, also known as The Mason Building or The Highlands, is a historic three-story brick building on Figueroa Street in the Highland Park district of northeast Los Angeles, California.

Located in Northeast Los Angeles near the Southwest Museum, the Ziegler Estate is a historic building on Figueroa Street in the Highland Park section of Los Angeles, California. Built in 1904, the building was designed by Charles Hornbeck and Alfred P. Wilson with elements of both Queen Anne and American Craftsman architecture. In the 1950s, Carl Dentzel, then director of the Southwest Museum, purchased it as a potential addition to the Southwest Museum Complex, which also included the Casa de Adobe and the Braun Research Library. The house is currently used as a day-care facility. The Zeigler Estate was nominated by Charles J. Fisher and the Highland Park Heritage Trust for Los Angeles Historic Cultural designation, and was declared Monument #416 on February 21, 1989. On October 3, 2003, it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Chicken Boy is a statue located on North Figueroa Street in the Highland Park district of Los Angeles. The 22-foot tall fiberglass statue was recognized by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger with the Governor's Historic Preservation Award in 2010.
