The South Funen Archipelago (Danish: Det Sydfynske Øhav) is the popular name for the part of the Baltic Sea south of the ports of Faaborg and Svendborg on the Danish island of Funen. The depth of the sea is typically between 20 and 30 meters. The archipelago includes some 55 low-lying Danish islands, including Ærø, Tåsinge, Thurø, Lyø, Strynø and Avernakø.

Until 1 January 2007, Egebjerg municipality was a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Funen County on the south coast of the island of Funen in south-central Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 124 km², and had a total population of 8,792 (2005). The last mayor of the municipality was Mogens Johansen. Its main city and the site of its municipal council was Vester Skerninge. Egebjerg municipality ceased to exist as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It was merged with Svendborg and Gudme municipalities to form the new Svendborg municipality. This created a municipality with an area of 418 km² and a total population of 58,354 (2005). The new municipality belongs to Region of Southern Denmark.

Hundstrup is a small town located on the island of Funen in south-central Denmark, in Svendborg Municipality. It is four kilometers north of Vester Skerninge and 14 kilometers northwest of Svendborg. The apple variety, Filippa originated in Hundstrup.

Tåsinge (Danish: [ˈtsʰɔːˌse̝ŋə] ) is a Danish island immediately south of Funen, opposite and facing Svendborg, divided from Funen by Svendborgsund. The island covers an area of circa 70 km2 (27 sq mi). It is part of the South Funen Archipelago and has 6,111 inhabitants. The Danish national road 9 crosses the island. Until the municipality reform of 1970, the island retained its own municipality (sognekommune). Since 1970, it has been part of Svendborg Municipality. Before the 1960s, when the island became connected to Funen via the Svendborgsund Bridge and to Langeland via the Langeland Bridge, it was served by ferries from Svendborg to Vindeby and from Vemmenæs to Rudkøbing respectively.Until 2011 the public schools on the island consisted of two separate entities, Lundby Skole and Sundhøjskolen, but in 2011 they were merged into a single structure called Tåsingeskolen with close to 800 pupils, by far the largest school in the entire municipality.The inhabitants of the island refer to themselves as Tøsinger. The local dialect called tåsingsk is still in use on the island, though not as common as in the past.

Svendborg Gymnasium & HF is a gymnasium in Svendborg, Denmark. It is one of the largest upper secondary schools in Denmark with approximately 1,200 students and 120 teachers. The gymnasium offers a General Upper Secondary Education (STX) program and a Higher Preparatory Examination (HF) program.
