Tatun Volcanic Group

Qixing Mountain, also spelled Cising Mountain or Chihsing Mountain, (Chinese: 七星山; Hanyu Pinyin: Qīxīng Shān; Tongyong Pinyin: Cising Shan; Wade–Giles: Ch'i1-Hsing1 Shan1; lit. 'Seven Star Mountain') is a mountain in Beitou District, Taipei, Taiwan. It is located within the Tatun Volcanic Group and is the highest mountain in the city, at the rim of Taipei Basin. It is also the highest (dormant) volcano in Taiwan. It is located in the center of Yangmingshan National Park; its main peak is 1,120 meters (3,670 ft) above sea level.It began erupting about 700,000 years ago. There was a crater at the peak but it became seven small peaks due to post-eruption erosion. The mountain has faults running across the southeast and northwest contours, and has volcanic landforms such as hot springs and fumaroles. Shamao Mountain is a round volcanic dome that looks like a black gauze cap. As the lava was more viscous when the mountain was formed, it gradually became a tholoid, also known as a cumulo-dome volcano, it is 643 meters (2,110 ft) above sea level. Shamaoshan and Cigushan (七股山, 890 meters (2,920 ft)) are parasitic volcanoes of Qixingshan. This mountain is the source of the name for Shichisei District (七星郡), Taihoku Prefecture, Taiwan under Japanese rule. This district included modern day Xizhi, Shilin, Beitou, Nangang, Neihu, Songshan, and Xinyi.

Yangmingshan National Park is one of the nine national parks in Taiwan, located in both Taipei and New Taipei City. The districts that are partially in the park include Taipei's Beitou and Shilin Districts; and New Taipei's Wanli, Jinshan, Sanzhi and Tamsui Districts. The national park is known for its cherry blossoms, hot springs, sulfur deposits, fumaroles, venomous snakes, and hiking trails, including Taiwan's tallest dormant volcano, Qixing (Seven Star) Mountain rising to 1,120 m (3,675 ft).

The Milk Lake (Chinese: 牛奶湖; pinyin: Niúnǎi Hú) (also known as Milk pond) is a lake in Shilin District, Taipei, Taiwan. The lake is part of Yangmingshan National Park. The temperature of Milk lake is around 40 °C (104 °F). This lake was formed due to volcanic activities and the surrounding landscape.

The Chung-Shan Building (Chinese: 中山樓; pinyin: Zhōngshān Lóu) is part of the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall complex. Completed in 1966, the building is located in the Yangmingshan National Park in Taipei, Taiwan. The building is placed on the reverse of the 100 New Taiwan Dollar bill. The building was used as the meeting venue of the National Assembly and off limits to the general public until the National Assembly's suspension in 2005, and now serves as a location for hosting ceremonies by the President of the Republic of China for state visits and conferences.

The Zhongxing Guesthouse (Chinese: 中興賓館; pinyin: zhōngxīng bīnguǎn) also known as the Yangmingshuwu is a historical site located in on Zhongxing road in Yangmingshan National Park in the Beitou District of Taipei, Taiwan. It was constructed between 1969 and 1970 by late Republic of China President Chiang Kai-shek for reception of important foreign guests and to act as a summer residence. It was designed by architect Huang Baoyu (黃寶瑜), who also designed the National Palace Museum.

The Grass Mountain Chateau (Chinese: 蔣公草山行館; pinyin: Jiǎng Gōng Cǎoshān Xíngguǎn; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Chiúⁿ-kong Chháu-soaⁿ Hêng-koán) is a former residence of late President of the Republic of China Chiang Kai-shek located in Beitou District, Taipei, Taiwan in Yangmingshan National Park.

Shamao Mountain (Chinese: 紗帽山; pinyin: Shāmàoshān), also called Mount Shamao, is a mountain located in Yangmingshan, in Beitou District, Taipei, Taiwan. Located on the Tatun Volcano Group, it stands at 643 m and a parasitic volcano of Qixing Mountain. Shamao Mountain is a round volcanic dome that looks like a black gauze cap. Datun Mountain (Chinese: 大屯山; pinyin: Dà tún shān) is a mountain located in the Yangmingshan National Park. With a height of 1,092 m (3,583 ft), it is the park's 3rd tallest mountain and is located in the Tatun Volcano Group. It is one of Taiwan's two active volcanoes, with the other being on Guishan Island off the coast of Yilan.

The Hwa Kang Museum (traditional Chinese: 華岡博物館; simplified Chinese: 华冈博物馆; pinyin: Huágāng Bówùguǎn) is a museum in Shilin District of Taipei, Taiwan. The museum is located at the Chinese Culture University.

Mount Zhuzi (Chinese: 竹子山; pinyin: zhuzishān), also called Zhuzi Shan Qianfeng, is a mountain in Sanzhi District, New Taipei City, Taiwan. Located on the Tatun Volcano Group, it stands at 1,094 m, making it the tallest peak in the city.

Zhongzheng Mountain (Traditional Chinese: 中正山), originally named Mituo Mountain and also known as Shiba Fen Mountain or Daganlin Mountain, is a peak in the northern part of the Taipei Basin within the Datun Volcano Group in Taiwan. With an elevation of 646 meters, it is located in Beitou District, Taipei City, within the Yangmingshan National Park. Formed by volcanic rocks on the southern side of Mt. Datun, it is referred to as Maitreya Mountain by the abbot of Fahua Temple at the foot of the mountain. In the early 1950s, during the early years of the Nationalist government in Taiwan, the mountain was renamed Zhongzheng Ridge to celebrate the birthday of President Chiang Kai-shek. Later, it was changed to Zhongzheng Mountain. The Kuomintang (KMT) and its affiliated organizations, starting from the 1950s, established birthday altars on the mountain on President Chiang Kai-shek's birthday. They organized mass ascents for the "Birthday Ascent," and in the 1960s, they expanded it to a "Ten Thousand People Ascent" symbolizing boundless longevity. Participants chanted praises to the "World Renowned Leader" and the "Savior of the Nation," shouting cheers in his honor. Even after his passing, annual "Memorial Ascents" continued for over a decade. In 1956, the Forestry Bureau, in collaboration with the Presidential Office, carried out afforestation with the image of the characters "中正" (Zhongzheng) on the southern slope of the mountain facing the direction of Taipei City. Each character was about one hundred meters wide and visible from Beitou City when the weather was clear, serving as a landmark for Beitou. However, by the 1990s, the characters became increasingly indistinct, and by 2003, aerial photos showed that they were difficult to recognize. This deterioration was attributed to the infestation of pine wood nematodes over the years and the passing of volunteers who had been pruning the trees since 2007. As of now, the characters are no longer discernible.

The Chinese Culture University (CCU; Chinese: 中國文化大學) is a private Taiwanese university located in Yangmingshan in Shilin District, Taipei, Taiwan. CCU was established in 1962 and is one of the largest universities in Taiwan with an enrollment of about 32,000 students. Satellite campuses are located in the Jianguo, Ximending, and Zhongxiao East Road areas of Taipei City. CCU has a vast collaboration and network with top universities around the world.The school was founded as Far East University in 1962 by Chang Chi-yun, and renamed College of Chinese Culture by President Chiang Kai-shek in 1963. It became Chinese Culture University in 1980. CCU is organized into twelve academic colleges: Liberal Arts, Foreign Language and Literature, Social Sciences, Science, Engineering, Business Administration, Journalism and Communications, Arts, Environmental Design, Law, Agriculture, and Education.
