Colleen is an unincorporated community in Nelson County, Virginia, United States. It was originally named Cabellsville. From 1761, Colleen was the first seat of government of the original Amherst County, when the county court first met at Henry Key's home near this central location in the newly-formed county and ordered William Cabell to survey the line dividing it from the former Albemarle County. The new courthouse was erected on Lunsford Lomax's land by March 1762. In 1807, Virginia's legislature formed Nelson County, so the county seat had to be relocated. The Amherst County judges met at New Glasgow (sometimes called Cabellsburg) and ordered a new courthouse built nearby. That frame courthouse was finished in 1810 and replaced by the current courthouse in 1870. Meanwhile, the Nelson County seat was transferred to Lovingston, and a courthouse built in 1809.

It was built by the Keystone Bridge Company in 1882, and is a single-span, through Pratt truss with two wooden beam approach spans. The span length is 100 feet (30 m). The approach spans are 19 feet (5.8 m) long. It carries VA State Route 653 over the busy Norfolk Southern Washington District, part of the former Southern Main Line between Washington, D.C., and Atlanta.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

It is a one-story Colonial Revival-style building that opened in 1931 and originally served grades one through eleven. It consists of a one-and-one-half-story main block with one-story wings. Behind the main block is the central auditorium with a stage and seven flanking classrooms. Later additions to the rear include four additional classrooms, built about 1945, and a kitchen, built 1951.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

Riverside Farm (Nelson County, Virginia)

Riverside Farm is a historic farm complex in rural western Nelson County, Virginia. It is located on the south side of Patrick Henry Highway (Virginia State Route 151) west of Roseland, on the western shore of the Tye River. Set on 295 acres (119 ha), it has a history dating to the early-to-mid 19th century, with the main farm complex set near the center of rolling fields. The main house is an 1841 late Federal period wood-frame house, and it is surrounded by a variety of domestic and agricultural outbuildings, including an ice house, poultry house, and smokehouse, all from the 1840s. Near the road stands a secondary complex that includes a mid-19th century tenant house. Development on the farm apparently began between 1831 and 1835 by James D. Goodwin.The farm was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.
