Skinquarter is an unincorporated town located off U.S. Route 360 in the western part of Chesterfield County in Virginia. It is located on the headwaters off Goode's Creek and Skinquarter Creek which flow to different places on the Appomattox River. The town was named by the early settlers for a spring nearby where the Native Americans would skin and quarter (chop into four pieces) deer. The Baptist Church that bears the name "Skinquarter" was founded in 1778. The first building was close to the spring. The present church building is the third or fourth building to be occupied by the church but it has kept the name Skinquarter continuously.It was a stop on the Farmville and Powhatan Railroad from 1884 to 1905 and then on the Tidewater and Western Railroad from 1905 to 1917. In 1926, a few years after the railroad was sold, a gas station for automobiles and store, Skinquarter Market, was built here, near the site of the Railroad Station that was about 1/4 mile up what is now Skinquarter Road. In 1891 the train did not always stop but a railway post office, a mail car on the Farmville and Powhatan, dropped off and picked up mail using the Mail on-the-fly technique. This was a hook and pouch system that let the train drop off and pick up mail without slowing down.

The Clover Hill Pits are a number of coal shafts and mines that operated in the Southside area of Richmond, Virginia, from 1837 until around 1883.

Winterpock is an unincorporated community in western Chesterfield County, Virginia, United States. Winterpock does not have its own post office.

Cosby High School is a public high school in Midlothian, Virginia, United States. Cosby opened in 2006 and is one of the newest of eleven high schools administered by Chesterfield County Public Schools.

Fuqua Farm is a historic farm property at 8700 Bethia Road in rural Chesterfield County, Virginia. The property, now about 23 acres (9.3 ha), was farmed by members of the Fuqua family from the 18th to the 21st century, and includes a vernacular 18th-century farmhouse. The farmhouse now includes elements of two structures that were joined about 1905; in addition to the farmhouse there are also early 20th-century outbuildings, including a chicken house, garage, and shed.The farm was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017.

Woodlake is a census-designated place in Chesterfield County, Virginia. The population as of the 2010 Census was 7,319. The suburban community is located on the west shore of Swift Creek Reservoir.

Pilkinton is an unincorporated community in Powhatan County, in the U.S. state of Virginia.

Clayville is an unincorporated community in Powhatan County, in the U.S. state of Virginia.

Moseley is an unincorporated area in Powhatan and Chesterfield counties in the U.S. state of Virginia. It is located to the west of the metropolitan Richmond area. The United States Post Office for the community is located at 21431 Hull Street Road, with a ZIP code of 23120.The community still has farms, some of which have established tourist activities such as pick your own fruits and vegetables and seasonal events. The privately owned Metro Richmond Zoo is located here and has operated year round on its 70-acre facility since 1995. (It was closed for a period during the early stages of the Covid 19 pandemic.) Many upper-middle class communities have been built in this formerly rural area since the late 20th century, such as Magnolia Green, Summer Lake, Westerleigh and FoxFire. It is bordered to the east by the census-designated place of Woodlake.

Dorset is an unincorporated community in Powhatan County, in the U.S. state of Virginia.

Eppington is a historic plantation house located near Winterpock, Chesterfield County, Virginia. It was built about 1768, and consists of a three-bay, 2+1⁄2-story, central block with hipped roof, dormers, modillion cornice, and flanking one-story wings in the Georgian style. It has a later two-story rear ell. It features two tall exterior end chimneys which rise from the roof of the wings. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1969.

The Swift Creek Reservoir is a 1,700 acres (690 ha), 5,200,000,000 US gallons (2.0×1010 L; 4.3×109 imp gal), man made lake in Chesterfield County, Virginia. It is 20–25 feet (6.1–7.6 m) deep at the channel and 6–12 feet (1.8–3.7 m) deep on average. It provides 20 percent of the county's water supply, and has a watershed area of 61.9 square miles (160 km2). It is fed by eight tributary creeks: Little Tomahawk Creek, Tomahawk Creek, Swift Creek, Otterdale Creek, Deep Creek, West Branch, Dry Creek, and Fuqua Creek. The reservoir provides drinking water and a recreational area to Chesterfield residents. Access to the reservoir is limited to a public parking bridge, located on Genito Road, as well as from Sunday Park, which is limited to residents of the Brandermill community, in addition to various private docks and launches found throughout the Brandermill and Woodlake communities.
