Doonbeg

Ballard (Irish: Baile Ard, meaning 'high settlement or place of importance') is a townland in west County Clare, Ireland. It is on the N67 national secondary road between the urban areas of Doonbeg and Kilkee. The nearest large towns are Kilrush and Kilkee, which are approximately 10 and 5 miles away, respectively. The townland is within the parish of Killard and the diocese of Killaloe.

Doonbeg (Killard) (Irish: Cill Ard) is a civil parish on the Atlantic coast of County Clare in Ireland. It is also an ecclesiastical parish in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Killaloe. The largest population centre in the parish is the village of Doonbeg.

The Doonbeg (Irish: Abhainn an Dúin Bhig) is a river of County Clare, western Ireland. Its source is near Kilmaley, and it flows southward for about 7 miles before turning northwestward for about 15 miles and passing Cooraclare before flowing into the sea at Doonbeg. At Doonbeg village the N67 road crosses the river on a seven-arched stone bridge. On 20 September 1588, one of the ships of the Spanish Armada, the San Estaban, was wrecked near the mouth of Doonbeg.

Trump International Golf Links & Hotel Ireland, formerly Doonbeg Golf Club, is a traditional links-type course situated to the north of Doonbeg in County Clare, Ireland. Designed by Greg Norman and opened in 2002, the geography was hardly changed as the course was fitted into the area provided. The complex hosts a 5-star hotel, spa, cottages and reception rooms.

Glengarriff GAA (Irish: CLG An Gleann Garbh) is a Gaelic football club in Glengarriff, County Cork. It is in the Beara division of Cork GAA. They play in green and red colours and their home pitch is Páirc Garbh. The club fields U-21, minor and junior teams and underage teams from U-8 to U-16 The club was founded in 1981 after separating from the neighbouring Adrigole GFC.

The West Clare Railway (WCR) originally operated in County Clare, Ireland, between 1887 and 1961. This 3 ft (914 mm) narrow-gauge railway ran from the county town of Ennis, via numerous stopping-points along the West Clare coast to two termini, at Kilrush and Kilkee, with the routes diverging at Moyasta Junction. The system was the last operating narrow gauge passenger system in Ireland and connected with the mainline rail system at Ennis, where a station still stands today for bus and train services to Limerick and Galway. Intermediate stops included Ennistymon, Lahinch and Milltown Malbay. A preservation society maintains a railway museum at Moyasta Junction station, and successfully re-opened a section of the railway as a passenger-carrying heritage line with diesel traction in the 1990s, and with steam motive power from 2009. The Railway was notorious for poor timekeeping, resulting in litigation and a celebrated comic song.

Moyasta (Irish: Maigh Sheasta, meaning 'plain of Asta') is a hamlet in County Clare, Ireland, situated between Kilkee and Kilrush on the N67. The hamlet is bordered by the Moyasta River, flowing from the bogs to Poulnasherry Bay.

Mutton Island (Irish: Oileán Caorach) is an uninhabited island and townland off the coast of County Clare, Ireland, about 1.5 km (0.9 mi) from the mainland. The nearest village is Quilty, which is roughly 3.5 km (2.2 mi) from the island. It is used mainly for grazing sheep, and is host to several abandoned houses and two forts. There is no public ferry service to the island, on which there is no jetty or boat slipway. It contains no roofed buildings, but there is a limited supply of fresh water.

Cree or Creegh (Irish: An Chríoch) is a small village in County Clare in Ireland. It is situated at a crossroads near the villages of Doonbeg and Cooraclare in the west of the county. The nearest large towns are Kilrush and Ennis which are 7 and 26 miles (11 and 42 km) away respectively. In Dromheilly Cree there is a shrine which August has a week of masses. Cree is in the ecclesiastical parish of Cree/Cooraclare parish and in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Killaloe. Nearby villages and small towns include Cooraclare, Doonbeg, Mullagh, Quilty, Kilmihil, Kilkee and Milltown Malbay.

Kilrush is a parish in County Clare and part of the Inis Cathaigh grouping of parishes within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Killaloe.Current (2022) co-parish priest is Pat Larkin.

Kilrush (Irish: Cill Rois, meaning 'Church of the Woods') is a coastal town in County Clare, Ireland. It is also the name of a civil parish and an ecclesiastical parish in Roman Catholic Diocese of Killaloe. It is located near the mouth of the River Shannon in the south-west of the county. Kilrush is one of the listed Heritage Towns of Ireland. The area was officially classified as part of the West Clare Gaeltacht, an Irish-speaking community, until 1956.

Kilrush Town Hall (Irish: Halla an Bhaile Cill Rois) is a municipal building in the Market Square, Kilrush, County Clare, Ireland. The building is currently used as by Clare County Council as offices for the delivery of local services.
