Fantan, Armenia

Gutanasar or Gut'anasar (Armenian: Գութանասար) is a mountain in the Kotayk Province near Fantan in Armenia. It is a 7,543 ft (2,299 m) high. A small Surb Astvatsatsin Church is located below it. It is a volcano which last erupted 200,000 BP, judging from Ar39/Ar40 dating of lava flows, and one of the common sources of obsidian in archeological sites of Armenia. Neighbouring communities include Fontan and Alapars. The volcano is part of the Geghama mountains volcanic area. and appear to share a common feeding conduit.

Jraber (Armenian: Ջրաբեր, also Romanized as Dzhraber and Djraber; formerly, Nikolayevka) is a town in the Kotayk Province of Armenia. The village has a Kurdish minority (including Yazidis).

Hatis (Armenian: Հատիս), formerly known as Kyankyan, is a village in the Kotayk Province of Armenia. The village is populated by mostly Armenians with Kurds being a minority (about 8%).

The Abovyan mine is a large mine in the center of Armenia in Kotayk Province. Abovyan represents one of the largest iron reserve in Armenia having estimated reserves of 255 million tonnes of ore grading 40% iron.

Zovashen (Armenian: Զովաշեն, formerly, Dallaklu) is a village in the Kotayk Province of Armenia. The village is overwhelmingly ethnic Armenian (86%) while the remaining population is Kurdish (14%) and the locals are mainly engaged in agriculture.

Byureghavan (Armenian: Բյուրեղավան), is a town and urban municipal community in the Kotayk Province of Armenia. It is located 16 kilometres (10 miles) northeast of Yerevan, and 25 kilometres (16 miles) south of the provincial center Hrazdan. It covers an area of 4 square kilometres (1.5 square miles). The rural communities of Nurnus and Arzni form the northern and southern borders of the town respectively. As of the 2011 census, the population of the town is 9,513. Currently, the town has an approximate population of 8,300 as per the 2016 official estimate.

Kotayk (Armenian: Կոտայք), formerly known as Yelgovan, is a village in the Kotayk Province of Armenia.

Akunk (Armenian: Ակունք, also Romanized as Akunq; formerly until 1946, Bashgyukh) is a village in the Kotayk Province of Armenia, located 6 km northeast of Abovyan and situated at the foot of Mount Hatis. The village was founded in 1829 by Armenian immigrants from Persia and Western Armenia, while the current population is Armenian and Yazidi. The local economy is heavily dependent on agriculture, based primarily on grain farming, orchard cultivation, and cattle-breeding. Akunk has a school, house of culture, library, and east of the village is a shrine of Poghos-Petros of the Late Middle Ages. A cyclopean fortress is also nearby.

Akhbrak (also, Akhpyurak and Agpara) is a town in the Kotayk Province of Armenia.

Nor Geghi (Armenian: Նոր Գեղի) is a major village in the Kotayk Province of Armenia, located around 22 km north of the capital Yerevan, near the town of Nor Hachen. As of the 2011 census, the population of the village is 5,319.
