The Shrewsbury Borough School District is a community public school district that serves students ranging from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade from Shrewsbury, in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. The school features three homerooms per grade. As of the 2018–19 school year, the district, comprising one school, had an enrollment of 479 students and 50.3 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 9.5:1.The district is classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "I", the second-highest of eight groupings. District Factor Groups organize districts statewide to allow comparison by common socioeconomic characteristics of the local districts. From lowest socioeconomic status to highest, the categories are A, B, CD, DE, FG, GH, I and J.For ninth through twelfth grades, most public school students are assigned to attend Red Bank Regional High School, which also serves students from the boroughs of Little Silver and Red Bank, along with students in the district's academy programs from other communities who are eligible to attend on a tuition basis. Students from other Monmouth County municipalities are eligible to attend the high school for its performing arts program, with admission on a competitive basis. The borough has two elected representatives on the nine-member Board of Education. As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough's population was 3,809, reflecting an increase of 219 (+6.1%) from the 3,590 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 494 (+16.0%) from the 3,096 counted in the 1990 Census.Shrewsbury was formed as a borough by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 22, 1926, from portions of Shrewsbury Township, based on the results of a referendum held on May 11, 1926. Allen House is located in Shrewsbury, Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. The house which would later function as a tavern was built c. 1710 as a second residence for the Stillwell family of NY. Richard, a wealthy merchant, and his wife Mercy had eight children who were brought up primarily in Shrewsbury. By 1754, after Richard and Mercy had died, their heirs sold the property to Josiah Halstead who transformed the home into the Blue Ball Tavern, "the most noted tavern in Shrewsbury." Taverns served as community centers in the 18th century as much as places to drink and eat. The Vestry of Christ Church held meetings there as did the Shrewsbury Library Company and the Monmouth County Circuit Court. During the American Revolutionary War in 1779, a Loyalist party raided the tavern where Continental troops were quartered. They killed 3 and captured 9 in what would become known as the Allen House Massacre. The house is furnished to reflect its use as a colonial tavern. The tavern was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 8, 1974. The house is one of several houses owned and operated as a historic house museum by the Monmouth County Historical Association.

Christ Church (Episcopal), Shrewsbury is a historic church building at the junction of Broad Street and Sycamore Avenue in Shrewsbury, New Jersey, It was built in 1769 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.

Wardell House is located in Shrewsbury, Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. The house was built in 1764 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on July 24, 1974.

The Parker Homestead is a historic home and grounds in Little Silver, Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States, located at 235 Rumson Road near Sickles Park. The main house was originally built circa 1720, and includes materials from an earlier structure (c. 1667) the early and late 19th century, and the 1910s and 1920s. It is one of the oldest extant buildings in the state. The farmstead which also includes three outlying barns were listed on the New Jersey Register of Historic Places and the National Register of Historic Places. in 2011.

The Anthony Reckless Estate, now the Woman's Club of Red Bank, is a historic house in downtown Red Bank, New Jersey. It was completed in 1870 and it was added to both the National Register of Historic Places and the New Jersey Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The T. Thomas Fortune House, also known historically as Maple Hall, is a historic house at 94 Drs. James Parker Boulevard in Red Bank, Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. Built in the mid-19th century, it was the home of Timothy Thomas Fortune (1856–1928), a leading African-American journalist and civil rights advocate, from 1901 to 1908. The house was named a National Historic Landmark in 1976. It is now owned by a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting Fortune's legacy of activism and community involvement.

Red Bank is the 5th most densely populated town in Monmouth County. Red Bank was formed as a town on March 17, 1870, from parts of Shrewsbury Township. On February 14, 1879, Red Bank became Shrewsbury City, part of Shrewsbury Township; this lasted until May 15, 1879, when Red Bank regained its independence. On March 10, 1908, Red Bank was formed as a borough by an act of the New Jersey Legislature and was set off from Shrewsbury Township. The borough was named for the red soil along the Navesink River.Downtown Red Bank is notable for its many local and well-known businesses including Garmany, Urban Outfitters, and Tiffany & Co. on and around Broad St. Many annual events happen throughout the year, including the International Beer, Wine & Food Festival, a long-running sidewalk sale, a Farmers Market, an Indie Film Festival, the Red Bank Guinness Oyster Festival, a Halloween parade, and a Holiday Town Lighting.

The Red Bank Armory is a former armory located at 76 Chestnut Street in Red Bank, New Jersey that has been converted to ice rink. The armory was built in 1914 for Troop B of the National Guard's Red Bank Cavalry and featured a 100x144-foot equestrian riding hall. By the 1950s, it was used to store old tanks.In 1998 Armory was converted to an ice rink, and is home to the Red Bank Generals, members of the New Jersey Youth Hockey League.
