Westminster Presbyterian Church is in the Jefferson Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. Westminster Presbyterian Church is a member of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), the Synod of Southern California and Hawaii and Pacific Presbytery. The congregation, established in 1904, is one of the oldest African American Presbyterian churches in California and west of the Mississippi River.

Math and Science College Preparatory (often shortened to "MSCP") is an independent public charter school located in the West Adams neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. MSCP offers students in grades nine through twelve opportunities to take classes that focus on an engineering curriculum in order to prepare students to enter STEM fields at four-year colleges.

Jefferson - Vassie D. Wright Memorial Branch Library is a branch library of the Los Angeles Public Library in the Jefferson Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. It was built in 1923 based on a Spanish Colonial Revival design by architect C.E. Noerenberg. In 1987, the Jefferson Branch and several other branch libraries in Los Angeles were added to the National Register of Historic Places as part of a thematic group submission. The application noted that the branch libraries had been constructed in a variety of period revival styles to house the initial branch library system of the City of Los Angeles.

West Adams Terrace is a neighborhood in Los Angeles. Dating back to 1905, it contains seven Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monuments, one property on the National Register of Historic Places and one Green Book property. In 2003, the neighborhood was designated a Historic Preservation Overlay Zone.

The William Andrews Clark Memorial Library (Clark Library), an affiliated library of the University of California, Los Angeles, holds rare books and manuscripts with particular strengths in English literature and history (1641–1800), Oscar Wilde and the fin de siècle, and fine press printing. It is located about ten miles southeast from UCLA, in the West Adams district of Los Angeles, and two miles west of the University of Southern California. It is administered by UCLA's Center for Seventeenth- and Eighteenth-Century Studies, which offers several long- and short-term fellowships for graduate and postdoctoral scholars to use the Library's collections. However, any reader with an interest in the collection is welcome to study.

Los Angeles Holiness Church was founded in 1921 in Los Angeles, California. The roots and theology of the church go back to John Wesley, founder of Methodism. Los Angeles Holiness Church is a multi-generational church with English and Japanese congregations and partnering with a Spanish-speaking congregation. Los Angeles Holiness Church is the mother church and headquarters of the OMS Holiness Church of North America which has churches throughout California, Hawaii, and Arizona. It is the only denomination that was founded by and focused towards Japanese and Japanese Americans. Currently, English congregations in the OMS Holiness Church of North America have grown with Asian Americans and other ethnicities as part of its membership.

Eugene W. Britt House is a three-story, red-brick Georgian Revival-Colonial Revival mansion built in 1910 in the West Adams district of Los Angeles, California. In 1984, it was converted into a sports museum housing the collection of the Helms Athletic Foundation. Since 1986, it has been the headquarters of the LA84 Foundation and the site of the LA84 Foundation Sports Library — the world's premier sports library.

Joseph Pomeroy Widney High School, also known as J. P. Widney High School, is a special-education magnet high school in Los Angeles, California. A part of the Los Angeles Unified School District, this school is named in honor of Dr. Joseph Pomeroy Widney.

Kinney Heights is a neighborhood in Los Angeles, California. It is a subdistrict of the West Adams district of South Los Angeles, California. The area was developed around 1900 by developer Abbot Kinney, for whom it is named. It was a suburban tract of large Craftsman style homes at what was then the western edge of Los Angeles. The homes featured amenities like "beveled-glass china cabinets, marble fireplaces and mahogany floors". It was accessible to downtown via streetcar and attracted upper-middle-class families.Many of the hundred-year-old homes are still standing and have been renovated and upgraded. The neighborhood is part of the West Adams Terrace Historic Preservation Overlay Zone (HPOZ).

The Ramsay-Durfee Estate, also known as Durfee Mansion, Durfee House or Villa Maria, is a historic Tudor Revival style mansion on Western Avenue in Los Angeles, California. It has been designated a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Golden State Mutual Life Insurance Building is a landmark 5-story, 84 ft (26 m) office building in the Late Modern style built in 1949 as the headquarters for its namesake company. The building was designed by Paul Revere Williams, the noted African-American Architect. The building is located in the West Adams district of South Los Angeles about 3.5 miles southwest of Downtown Los Angeles and 2 miles northwest of Exposition Park and USC. This was the company's second building to bear this name, the first having been built in 1928.

Marvin Gaye, an American musician who gained worldwide fame for his work with Motown Records, was shot and killed the day before his 45th birthday by his father, Marvin Gay Sr., on April 1, 1984, at their house in the Arlington Heights district of Los Angeles, California. Gaye was shot twice following an altercation with his father after he intervened in an argument between his parents. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the California Hospital Medical Center. Gaye's father later pleaded no contest to a charge of voluntary manslaughter. Gaye's death inspired several musical tributes over the years including recollections of the incidents leading to his death. Gaye was given a burial plot at Forest Lawn Cemetery and was later cremated and his ashes spread around the Pacific Ocean.
