Jane Franklin Hall in Hobart, Australia is an independent non-denominational residential college of the University of Tasmania. Familiarly referred to as "Jane", it was founded by the Tasmanian Council of Churches in 1950 as a residential college for women before becoming co-educational in 1973. Jane is a non-denominational Christian institution supported by chaplains of various Christian traditions and is the only college in the Oxbridge style attached to the university.Although there is no direct link between them, the college is named in honour of Jane, Lady Franklin, wife of the famous but ill-fated Arctic explorer Sir John Franklin, who from 1837 to 1843 was the sixth Lieutenant-Governor of Van Diemen's Land. The college embraces Lady Franklin as a namesake, placing a high value on education and community wellbeing.

Print Radio Tasmania (callsign 7RPH) is a radio station based in Hobart, Tasmania. It is a reading and information service for those persons unable to read or easily access information in print. The station is run and operated by volunteers. Programs broadcast range from live reading of local and national newspapers to magazine and serialised book readings.Print Radio Tasmania was the first RPH station to go on-air in Australia on 26 June 1982, originally broadcasting on 1620 AM. In 1991 the station changed frequency to 864 AM. In December 2003 a second transmitter was established in Northern Tasmania to relay the station to Launceston and the Tamar Valley on 106.9 FM. In February 2013 a third transmitter was established to relay the station to Devonport on 96.1 FM. 7RPH is a member of the RPH Network and is a rebroadcaster of the BBC World Service.

Darcy Street, officially the South Hobart Oval, is a multi-use stadium in Hobart, Australia. It is mainly used for soccer and is the home ground for South Hobart FC. The stadium has a capacity of 1,500 people.

Macquarie Street a major one way street passing through the outskirts of the Hobart City Centre in Tasmania, Australia. Macquarie street is named after Lachlan Macquarie, who oversaw the planning of Hobart’s inner city grid layout. The street forms a One-way couplet with nearby Davey Street connecting traffic from the Southern Outlet in the south with traffic from the Tasman Highway to the east and the Brooker Highway to the north of the city. With annual average daily traffic of 28,500, the road is one of the busier streets in Hobart. From the South Hobart intersection with Cascade Road, Washington Street and Darcy Street, Macquarie Street runs approximately 2 km (1.2 mi) east from the suburb of South Hobart as a two-way street until it reaches the intersection with the southern outlet where it becomes a one-way street for the duration of its length. It is primarily four lanes with the exception of its two-way section which is one lane both ways. The intersections on the one-way portion of the street are regulated by synchronised traffic lights. Macquarie Street borders the city garden Franklin Square. Prominent buildings in the street include the Hotel Grand Chancellor, the Lands Building, which houses the Department of Primary Industries, Water and Environment; the Mercury building; St Davids Cathedral; and the Reserve Bank Building. Macquarie Street is featured as a property in the Australian version of Monopoly.

Dynnyrne is a residential locality in the local government area (LGA) of Hobart in the Hobart LGA region of Tasmania. The locality is about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) south-west of the town of Hobart. The 2016 census recorded a population of 1577 for the state suburb of Dynnyrne.It is a suburb of Hobart, with views over the Derwent River, that is largely situated on a hill south-west of the city above the Southern Outlet, and the suburb of Sandy Bay. The suburb border stretches from the Fitzroy Gardens in the north, to the University of Tasmania apartments in the south, and up the Waterworks Valley to the west. Other nearby suburbs are South Hobart and Tolmans Hill. Dynnyrne is Tasmania's second most affluent suburb according to documents released by the Australian Taxation Office.

The Convention on the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources, also known as the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources, and CCAMLR, is part of the Antarctic Treaty System. The convention was opened for signature on 1 August 1980 and entered into force on 7 April 1982 by the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources, headquartered in Tasmania, Australia. The goal is to preserve marine life and environmental integrity in and near Antarctica. It was established in large part to concerns that an increase in krill catches in the Southern Ocean could have a serious impact on populations of other marine life which are dependent upon krill for food.In 1989, CCAMLR set up the Ecosystem Monitoring Program (CEMP) to further monitor the effects of fishing and harvesting of species in the area. On 19 October 2022, Ecuador became a New Member of the Commission, the 26th member of the CCAMLR.

Anglesea Barracks is an Australian Defence Force barracks in central Hobart, Tasmania. The site was chosen in December 1811 by Lachlan Macquarie and construction began on the first buildings to occupy the site in 1814. It is the oldest Australian Army barracks still in use and celebrated its bicentenary in December 2011.Despite the small variation in spelling it was named after Henry Paget, 1st Marquess of Anglesey who was involved with the Board of Ordnance.

The Army Museum of Tasmania (formerly known as the Military Museum of Tasmania) is located within Anglesea Barracks in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. Anglesea Barracks, constructed in 1814. The Barracks is included on the Commonwealth Heritage List.The museum is located in the military gaol which was built in 1847. The building has undergone few changes from when it was built despite its multiple uses, including as a girls reformatory, a married quarter, a store and offices.Displays include items from the colonial period when the British Army occupied the barracks to the current operational deployments with a focus on Tasmanian servicemen and women within the Australian Defence Force.

The 6th Military District was an administrative district of the Australian Army. During the Second World War, the 6th Military District covered all of Tasmania, with its headquarters at Hobart. Around the start of the Second World War, the 6th Military District became part of Southern Command, along with the 3rd and 4th Military Districts in Victoria and South Australia. This required legislative changes to the Defence Act (1903), and did not come into effect until October 1939.

St Mary's College is a Kinder to Year 12 Catholic, day school for girls (and boys to Year 2), located on the northern city fringe of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. Although predominantly a girls’ school, St Mary's accepts both boys and girls until Grade 2, and currently caters for approximately 900 students from Kindergarten to Year 12. It is located on the grounds of St Mary's Cathedral, next to the Junior School campus of St Virgil's College. Boys who attend St Mary's for Kindergarten to Year 2 generally transfer to St Virgil's College Junior School Campus located just next door.
