Mahonstown also known as Caran is a townland in the civil parish of Enniscoffey in County Westmeath, Ireland.The townland is located to the south of Mullingar, to the north of Rochfortbridge and Milltownpass, and to the east of Lough Ennell.

Carlanstown (Irish: Droichead Chearbhalláin) is a village and townland in County Meath, Ireland. As of the 2016 census, there were 664 people living in the village.Carlanstown is located approximately 4 km northeast of the larger town of Kells, County Meath on the N52 road. From October 2022 Bus Éireann extended its Dundalk to Ardee service, route 167, to serve the village and continue to Mullingar via Kells. There are several daily services each way.The Moynalty River, which flows to the south of the village, is spanned by Carlanstown Bridge which dates to c.1800. The local national (primary) school, Scoil Mhuire Carlanstown, was built in the mid-1940s.

The Spire of Lloyd in Kells, Ireland is an 18th-century folly in the form of a Doric column, surmounted by a glazed lantern. Sometimes described as "Ireland's only inland lighthouse", it was designed by architect Henry Aaron Baker. It was reputedly commissioned by Thomas Taylour, 1st Earl of Bective as a memorial to his father.The tower is located on the Hill of Lloyd, making this 40 kilometres from the coast and is around 30 m (100 ft) high. From the top there are views of the surrounding countryside as far as the Mourne Mountains in County Down, Northern Ireland on a clear day. The tower was used to view horse racing and the hunt in the nineteenth century. A plaque on the tower reads: This pillar was designed by Henry Aaron Baker Esq. architect was executed by Mr. Joseph Beck stone cutter Mr. Owen Mc Cabe head mason Mr. Bartle Reilly overseer Anno 1791.The area around the tower has been developed as a community park, and includes a paupers' grave, where Mass is still celebrated annually in memory of the Great Famine.

The Abbey of Kells (Mainistir Cheanannais in Irish) is a former monastery in Kells, County Meath, Ireland, 64 kilometres (40 mi) north of Dublin. It was founded in the early 9th century, and the Book of Kells was kept there during the later medieval and early modern periods before finally leaving the abbey in the 1650s. Much of the Book of Kells may have been created there, but historians cannot be certain of the exact date and circumstances of its creation.

Kells (; Irish: Ceanannas) is a town in County Meath, Ireland. The town lies off the M3 motorway, 16 km (10 mi) from Navan and 65 km (40 mi) from Dublin. Along with other towns in County Meath, it is within the commuter belt for Dublin, and had a population of 6,608 as of the 2022 census. It is best known as the site of Kells Abbey, from which the Book of Kells takes its name.

Headfort House is a large country house on the southern outskirts of Kells in County Meath, Ireland.

Headfort School, first established in 1949 by Lord and Lady Headfort at Headfort House near Kells, County Meath, is Ireland's only remaining preparatory boarding school. It closed in March 2020 but a new operation under the same name opened in September of that year, with a new headmaster. In September 2021 a new Headmaster, Philip McCormick, was appointed.
