The Adel DeSoto Minburn (ADM) School District is a public school district in the Des Moines Metro headquartered in Adel, Iowa.The district, mostly in Dallas County, includes a small portion in Madison County. It serves the Iowa communities of Adel, De Soto, and Minburn, and is located on the west edge of the Des Moines Metro area.ADM has consistently been recognized for high levels of academic achievement as measured by the Iowa Department of Education's Iowa School Performance Profiles. ADM high school has regularly been identified as one of the top 10 high schools in Iowa and one of the top 5 high schools in the Des Moines Metro by US News. ADM has been recognized by the Belin-Blank Center for Gifted Education and Talent Development as a STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) innovator and offers high school Project Lead the Way courses in engineering and biomedical science, a STEM Excellence and Leadership program for middle school students, and an innovative agricultural technology curriculum. Among several notable alumni is Nile Kinnick, Iowa's only Heisman Trophy winner as a scholar and athlete at The University of Iowa in 1939, who attended school in the district until his junior year.

The Adel Public Square Historic District, also known as The Square, is a nationally recognized historic district located in Adel, Iowa, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009. At the time of its nomination it contained 45 resources, which included 35 contributing buildings, one contributing structure, and nine non-contributing buildings. Adel was platted in 1847 as the county seat for Dallas County. The population of the town expanded in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and the central business district expanded because of it. It reached its largest size in 1917 with some redevelopment occurring on the east side of the square after World War II. The historic district contains a mix of commercial buildings, professional offices, automotive and farm equipment related businesses, lodge halls, a single-family dwelling, and hatcheries. Civic buildings include the Dallas County Courthouse (1902) and the former post office. Several buildings have been renovated for use by the county for office space. The network of brick streets is the historic structure in the district. The period of significance is from 1868 to 1959, and the buildings were constructed during that time frame. While wood was the earliest building material used, none of those buildings exist and now most of the buildings are brick with a few concrete structures built after World War II.

The Dallas County Courthouse in Adel, Iowa, United States was built in 1902. It was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, and is a part of the County Courthouses in Iowa Thematic Resource. In 2009 it was included as a contributing property in the Adel Public Square Historic District. The current structure is the fourth building to house court functions and county administration.

Adel ( AY-dəl) is a city in and the county seat of Dallas County, Iowa. It is located along the North Raccoon River. Its population was 6,153 at the time of the 2020 Census.

The Adel Bridge is located on the east edge of Adel, Iowa, United States. The 400-foot (120 m) span carried traffic on River Street over the Raccoon River. The Dallas County Board of Supervisors received a petition to replace a deteriorating bridge at this location. The old bridge had been built where ferry service had been initiated in 1850, three years after the town had been established. They contracted with the King Iron Bridge and Manufacturing of Cleveland to build the two-span Pratt through truss bridge for $12,500. It was a primary river crossing into Adel until 1932 when the U.S. Highway 6 bridge was completed not far to the south. While it remains in place, it was closed to vehicular traffic in 2000. The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

Between 2010 and 2020, it was the fastest growing county in Iowa and one of the fastest growing in the country. Its county seat is Adel, and its largest city is Waukee. The county was named for George M. Dallas, Vice President of the United States under James K. Polk, the namesake of neighboring Polk County. Dallas County is included in the Des Moines–West Des Moines, IA Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The Brenton Arboretum is a 141-acre arboretum and public garden in Dallas Center, Iowa, United States, established in 1997. The arboretum displays 175 native Iowa trees and shrubs suitable to the site, as well as many other tree species which can grow in central Iowa. The non-profit arboretum is open to the public from 9 am to sunset on Tuesday through Sunday, featuring a collection of over 2,600 trees and shrubs on display. The arboretum was founded by Sue and J.C. (Buz) Brenton and their children, on land which was part of the original Home Farm acquired by Dr. James Brenton and his son, William Henry, soon after they arrived from Indiana in 1853 by covered wagon. Its first trees were planted in 1997. The master plan was created by Anthony Tyznik of Batavia, Illinois, who for many years was the landscape architect for the Morton Arboretum in Chicago, Illinois. The arboretum has a lake, pond, wetlands, several streams, walking paths, bridges, prairies, wildflowers and a small library. Natural prairie was established to restore the land to a pre-agricultural setting.
