Vivekananda Setu

Vivekananda's prayer to Kali at Dakshineswar is an event which occurred in September 1884 when Swami Vivekananda (then known as Narendranath Dutta), following the suggestion of Ramakrishna, went to the Kali temple of Dakshineswar with the intention to pray for financial welfare, but ultimately prayed for pure knowledge, devotion and renunciation. This event has been a subject of scholarly studies and is considered as a significant event in the life of Vivekananda, who initially revolted against idol-worship but now accepted and prayed before an idol of Kali. This incident added a new change to Narendra's devotion and knowledge. After making three attempts to seek a blessing to remove his financial problems from mother Goddess Kali, he came out with the divine statement: "Mother, I want nothing but knowledge and devotion!"

Dakshineswar Kali Temple is a Hindu navaratna temple in Dakshineswar, Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Situated on the eastern bank of the Hooghly River, the presiding deity of the temple is Bhavatarini, a form of Parashakti Adya Kali, otherwise known as Adishakti Kalika. The temple was built in 1855 by Rani Rashmoni, a Zamindar, philanthropist and a devotee of Kali. The temple is known for its association with Ramakrishna and Ma Sarada Devi, mystics of 19th century Bengal.The main temple was inspired by Navaratna style Radhakanta temple, built by Ramnath Mondal of Tollygunge. The temple compound, apart from the nine-spired main temple, contains a large courtyard surrounding the temple, with rooms along the boundary walls. There are twelve shrines dedicated to Shiva–Kali's consort–along the riverfront, a temple to Radha–Krishna, a bathing ghat on the river, a shrine dedicated to Rani Rashmoni. 'Nahabat', the chamber in the northwestern corner just beyond the last of the Shiva temples, is where Ramakrishna and Maa Sarada spent a considerable part of their lives.

Kripamayee Kali Temple (Bengali: কৃপাময়ী কালী মন্দির Kripamôyee Kali Môndir), commonly known as Joy Mitra Kalibari (Bengali: জয় মিত্র কালীবাড়ি, Jôy Mitrô Kalibari ), is a Hindu temple dedicated to goddess Kali, located on the eastern banks of Hooghly river at Baranagar (in Greater Kolkata) in North 24 Parganas district, in the Indian state of West Bengal.

Little Flowers' School is a co-educational higher secondary school situated in Uttarpara, Hooghly by the river Ganges, near Uttarpara Govt. High School and Peary Mohan College on Amarendra Nath Sarani. It was established in 1981 and runs in two language mediums. The Bengali medium is a primary one and is run in the morning. The English medium which is run as the day section is a secondary school.The school was conceived as a side project of Model Education Society, a local philanthropic and charitable society. It started out as a Bengali medium school and gradually expanded its number of classes and included the English medium section. Its first Principal was Late Prof. Syamadas Mukherjee.The English medium section received its recognition from WBBSE in 2010 and WBCHSE in 2015.

Uttarpara Jaykrishna Public Library is a district library in Uttarpara, West Bengal, India, and is the first of its kind in Asia. Located in Uttarpara, a small town on the banks of the Hoogly river, this library was established by Babu Jaykrishna Mukherjee and opened to the public in 1859. At present, the library has been declared a Group ‘A’ Library by the West Bengal State Government. Efforts are being made to have it declared an Institution of National Importance.

Dakshineswar railway station is a Kolkata Suburban Railway station of Eastern Railway. It is 13 km away from Sealdah and 9 km from Dankuni Junction on the Sealdah–Dankuni line of Eastern Railway. Dankuni and Bardhaman local train connects this place to Sealdah Station and other stations of the Sealdah main line. It is an important railway station between Dum Dum and Dankuni railway stations.

Adyapeath Annada Polytechnic College , is a government sponsored polytechnic located in Dakshineshwar, North 24 Parganas district, West Bengal. This polytechnic is affiliated to the West Bengal State Council of Technical & Vocational Education and Skill Development, and recognised by All India Council For Technical Education. The college offers diploma (polytechnic) courses in electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering.
