Praia Nova

Praia de Nossa Senhora da Rocha (in Portuguese: Beach of Our Lady of the Rock) is a small fishing community and beach on the Atlantic coast of the civil parish/freguesia of Porches in the municipality/concelho of Lagoa (Algarve) in Portugal. The beach is one of the most rustic ones along the coast and was used as a refuge for small fishing boats in the area. The beach is flanked by cliffs. At the west end is a promontory on which is the old Fort and Shrine of Nossa Senhora da Rocha. A tunnel has been excavated through this promontory to link Praia da Senhora da Rocha with Praia Nova on the other side. The fact that the beach/Praia da Senhora da Rocha is protected by cliffs is not only a great advantage for the fishermen, it also offers shelter to tourists when the wind is very strong. The beach is surrounded by abundant greenery, including juniper and wild olive and mastic trees. Many plants typical of these saline environments can be seen growing on the cliff face, along with numerous birds that take shelter here: falcons, black-headed gulls, herring gulls and swifts.

The Fort of Nossa Senhora da Rocha (also known as the Fort of Our Lady of the Rock or Castle of Porches) is a medieval castle situated in the civil parish of Porches, in the municipality of Lagoa in Portuguese Algarve. Inside the fort is the Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Rocha, of uncertain date.

Praia da Marinha (in English: Navy Beach or Marinha Beach) is one of the most emblematic beaches of Portugal with a hot-summer Mediterranean climate, located on the Atlantic coast in Caramujeira, part of the Lagoa Municipality, Algarve, and considered by the Michelin Guide as one of the 10 most beautiful beaches in Europe and as one of the 100 most beautiful beaches in the world. In 1998, it was also awarded with the distinguished "Golden Beach" award by the Portuguese Ministry of the Environment because of its outstanding natural qualities. Furthermore, many pictures of this beach have often been used in promotional material and "Guides of Portugal" distributed around the world. The beach itself is fairly small and sandy, and orange limestone cliffs border this famous beach. The beach also has some difficulty to get there, it is a little off the main road and the foot path takes a sharp descent downward.This beach is not only famous for its cliffs, but also for the quality of the water. Marinha Beach has often been used by international advertising agencies and by television producers in advertising campaigns. In 2018, the US television network CNN chose Marinha Beach in the Algarve as one of the 20 most beautiful in the world in the category of beaches with cliffs.In 2019, CNN re-elected Marinha Beach as the Portuguese beach with the award for best spot to visit in September and also as one of the best destinations in the world.

Caramujeira is a hamlet in Portugal, located in the civil parish of Lagoa and Carvoeiro, on the outskirts of the city of Lagoa, in the Algarve region. It became well known for its Marinha Beach, considered by the Michelin Guide as "one of the 10 most beautiful beaches in Europe" and "as one of the 100 most beautiful beaches in the world". In 2018, CNN rated the Marinha Beach as one of the "best beaches in the world". Caramujeira is also known for its wine production.Benagil, Carvoeiro and Porches villages are also located near the hamlet.

Armação de Pêra is a town (vila) and Portuguese parish (freguesia) in the municipality of Silves. The population in 2011 was 4,867, in an area of 7.99 km². The village used to be called Pêra de Baixo or Lower Pêra to distinguish it from the present Pêra, which was then named Pêra de Cima or Upper Pêra.The town (vila in Portuguese) of Armação de Pêra is a popular tourist center with fine beaches, hotels, cafés and restaurants. It is on a broad bay that stretches from Pont da Galé to Senhora da Rocha. Its beaches extend from Praia dos Pescadores or the Fishermen's Beach, to Salomão beach, including those of Maré Grande and Beijinhos.The town is one of the last places in the region where fishing boats are launched from and recovered to the actual beach. There is no harbour.

The Church of Our Lady of the Incarnation (or the Parochial Church of Porches) is a church situated in the civil parish of Porches, in the municipality of Lagoa in the Portuguese region of Algarve.

Porches is a civil parish/freguesia in the municipality of Lagoa in Portugal, about 10 km east of the city of Lagoa. The population in 2011 was 2,011, in an area of 15.64 km2. It was elevated to the status of a town on July 12, 2001.

The Alcantarilha River (Portuguese pronunciation: [alˌkɐ̃tɐˈɾiʎɐ]) is a small river in the south central region of the Algarve, Portugal. The river begins at the conflux of three tributary streams a little south of the village of Miões in the municipality of Silves. Downstream the river also has several further tributaries including the Algoz River (Ribeiro de Algoz). The river runs for a length of 12.2 miles (19.6 km) from its conflux to the mouth at the Atlantic ocean in south central Algarve.

Benagil is a small Portuguese village on the Atlantic coast in the municipality of Lagoa, Algarve, in Portugal. Up to the late 20th century, the village's economy was based on ocean fishing, but it developed into a tourist area with a widely used beach, Praia de Benagil. It has few inhabitants but in the summer many people come from abroad. The population is roughly 60. Benagil village and beach are located close to the internationally famous Marinha Beach.The main tourist attraction in Benagil is Benagil Cave (Portuguese: Algar de Benagil). Out of all sea caves that dot the Algarve coastline between Lagos and Albufeira, the Benagil Cave is the only one that has been eroded both from the side and from the top. This unique natural process has resulted in an opening in the ceiling that allows the sunlight to brighten up the grotto and the beach that it hides. In 2023, after concerns of overtourism was raised, canoes, kayaks and surfboards are banned and there has been some proposals to setup limits and admission fee for tourists.

The Convent of Our Lady of Mount Carmel (Portuguese: Convento da Nossa Senhora do Carmo; which was in fact referred to as the Convent of Our Lady of Help/Aid (Portuguese: Convento da Nossa Senhora do Socorro)) is a medieval carmelite convent and church complex in the civil parish of Lagoa in the municipality of Lagoa in the Portuguese Algarve. The original convent was all but destroyed in the 1755 Lisbon earthquake. After the extinction of the religious orders in Portugal in 1834, the property was taken over by a signeurial family which continued to provide church services.

Alcantarilha e Pêra is a civil parish in the municipality of Silves, Portugal. It was formed in 2013 by the merger of the former parishes Alcantarilha and Pêra. The population in 2011 was 4,972, in an area of 46.26 km².

The Castle of Alcantarilha is a medieval fortress and its remnant walls in Portugal, in the civil parish of Alcantarilha, municipality of Silves, in the Portuguese Algarve region of southwestern Iberia. It is a little-known monument, now in ruins, used for the protection of the people of the village and surrounding area from attacks by north African pirates.
