Brome—Missisquoi

Brome-Missisquoi is a provincial electoral district in the Montérégie region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It notably includes the municipalities of Cowansville, Bromont, Farnham, Shefford and Lac-Brome It was created for the 1973 election from Brome and parts of Missisquoi and Shefford. In the change from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map, it lost Austin, Bolton-Est, Bonsecours, Eastman, Lawrenceville, Potton, Sainte-Anne-de-la-Rochelle, Saint-Benoît-du-Lac, Saint-Étienne-de-Bolton, Stukely-Sud to Orford electoral district, but gained Shefford, Warden, Waterloo from Shefford electoral district.

Cowansville is a town in south-central Quebec, Canada, located on Lac Davignon 20 kilometres (12 mi) north of the U.S. border. It is the seat of Brome-Missisquoi, a regional county municipality. The population as of the Canada 2021 Census was 15,234. In recent years, Cowansville has seen its commercial activity blossom mainly due to its proximity to a major freeway, Autoroute 10, and the Eastern Townships ski resort region.

Dunham is a city in the Canadian province of Quebec, located in Brome-Missisquoi Regional County Municipality. The population as of the Canada 2011 Census was 3,471. Dunham is located approximately 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) north of the United States border. It is bordered by Saint-Ignace-de-Stanbridge and Stanbridge East to the west, Farnham to the northwest, Brigham and Cowansville to the north, Brome Lake to the northeast, Sutton to the east and Frelighsburg to the south. Selby Lake is located entirely within Dunham.

Brome-Missisquoi (French pronunciation: [bʁɔm misiskwa]) is a regional county municipality in the Estrie region of Quebec, Canada. It lies in the Eastern Townships area. The seat is Cowansville. In 2021, it was transferred to the Estrie region from Montérégie. In Parliament it is covered by the Brome—Missisquoi federal electoral district.

East Farnham is a municipality located in the province of Quebec, Canada. It is part of Brome-Missisquoi Regional County Municipality, in the administrative region of Estrie. The population as of the 2021 Canadian Census was 612.

Selby Lake (French: Lac Selby) is a freshwater lake located entirely in Dunham, a city in the Brome-Missisquoi Regional County Municipality of the Montérégie region of southern Quebec, Canada. The lake is 2 km (1.2 mi) by 0.8 km (0.50 mi) wide, with an area of 1.2 km (0.75 mi). It has an average depth of 1 m (3 ft 3 in) and a maximum depth of 10 m (33 ft).Selby Lake has historically been popular in the region for rowing and fishing, drawing people from Dunham and neighbouring Frelighsburg. Today, 183 homes and cottages border the lake.The lake was found to be approaching a state of eutrophication in the 1970s. The lake's sanitation was improved, following the installation of a sewer system in Dunham in 1986–87, which replaced the septic tanks used previously. Additionally, the lake's condition ameliorated following the re-vegetation of the lakeshore, restoration of ditches, and the installation of sediment sensors and catchment basins by the city of Dunham in collaboration with the Association pour la protection de l’environnement du lac Selby (APELS).In 2007, Selby Lake, along with other lakes in Quebec, were found to be contaminated with blue-green algae.Selby Lake was mentioned in season 2, episode 12 (The Choice) of the American television drama series Homeland. Upon driving Nicholas Brody to near the Canada–United States border, Carrie Mathison instructed him to hike the rest of the way through the woods to meet with her friend June, who has a summer cabin at Lake Selby.

The Roland-Désourdy Airport (IATA: ZBM, ICAO: CZBM) (formerly known as Eastern Townships Regional Airport or simply Bromont Airport) is located 3.4 nautical miles (6.3 km; 3.9 mi) west-southwest of Bromont, Quebec, Canada. Traffic at Roland-Désourdy Airport is represented mainly by small, single-engine aircraft; jets and big aircraft are not common. The airport serves general aviation and has no scheduled flights. A commercial aircraft maintenance facility also operates in ZBM. The airport is classified as an airport of entry by Nav Canada and is staffed by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). CBSA officers at this airport can handle commercial and general aviation aircraft, with no more than 15 passengers.

Brigham is a municipality located in the province of Quebec, Canada. The population as of the Canada 2011 Census was 2,457. Part of the Brome-Missisquoi Regional County Municipality, in the administrative region of Estrie, the municipality is west of Cowansville and close to Bromont.

The Olympic Equestrian Centre, Bromont is a horse sports venue located in Bromont, Quebec. Built in 1975, it hosted the equestrian (except for team jumping which was held at Olympic Stadium in Montreal) and the riding portion of the modern pentathlon competitions for the 1976 Summer Olympics. Since the 1976 Games, the venue has hosted numerous equestrian events.

Sutton is a town in southwestern Quebec. It is part of the Brome-Missisquoi Regional County Municipality in the administrative region of the Estrie. The population as of the Canada 2021 Census was 4,548. Historically, Sutton is considered to be part of the Eastern Townships.

The North Yamaska river (in French: Rivière Yamaska Nord) is a tributary of the Yamaska river. It flows over 47.8 kilometres (29.7 mi) on the south shore of the Saint Lawrence river in Quebec, Canada and passes through five municipalities, some of them sourcing their fresh water from it. Like the rest of the Yamaska, it is an important source of life, though urban development, agriculture and industrial uses have had a negative impact on the ecosystem depending on its waters since the colonization of the Eastern Townships. An awakening in regards to pollution in the North Yamaska has led to an increasing amount of movements such as collective art and eco-friendly action around the river; efforts are noted in local municipalities and their regional county municipalities to alter the impacts of towns and villages on water quality.

CIDI-FM is an English language community radio station with French programming that broadcasts at 99.1 FM in Brome Lake, Quebec, Canada. Owned by Radio communautaire Missisquoi, a non-profit organization, the station was licensed in 2003.
