Wakefield is an incorporated town in Sussex County, Virginia, United States. Per the 2020 census, the population was 729.Wakefield is widely known for the Virginia Diner, the Airfield Conference and 4-H Educational Center, and the National Weather Service Weather Forecast Office for Eastern Virginia, which issues weather alerts for the region, though the latter two are actually located outside the town limits. Wakefield also hosts the Virginia Shad Planking.

Big Woods State Forest is a 2,403-acre (9.72 km2) state forest in Sussex County, Virginia. It was the first state forest property to be established in southeast Virginia.

Big Woods Wildlife Management Area is a 4,173-acre (16.89 km2) Wildlife Management Area (WMA) in Sussex County, Virginia. It comprises two tracts of land; the 2,208-acre (8.94 km2) main tract, located immediately adjacent Big Woods State Forest, and the 1,965-acre (7.95 km2) Parker's Branch tract, located nearby.

Ivor is an incorporated town in Southampton County, Virginia, United States. It is twenty-three miles northwest of Suffolk. The population was 320 at the 2000 census.

Littleton is an unincorporated community in Sussex County, Virginia, United States. Littleton is located on Virginia State Route 35 9.7 miles (15.6 km) south-southwest of Waverly. Little Town was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

Cedar Ridge is a historic home located East of Disputanta, in Surry County, Virginia. The original one-room section was built about 1750, and later enlarged to a 1+1⁄2-story, three-bay, single pile, Colonial frame dwelling. The main house has a later rear addition of an enclosed breezeway connecting to a two-story kitchen and bedchamber addition. The footprint of the house resembles a modified "T" shape. The house was restored, and the chimneys rebuilt, in the late-1970s. Also on the property is a one-story outbuilding that may once have served as slaves' quarters.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

Sedley is a census-designated place (CDP) in the middle of Southampton County, Virginia, United States. The population as of the 2010 Census was 470. It lies at an elevation of 89 feet (27 m).

Enos House, also known as Warren House, is a historic home located on Enos Farm Drive near Surry, Surry County, Virginia. It was built c. 1810, and is a 1+1⁄2-story, double-pile hall-parlor plan frame dwelling. It has a gable roof and features a low full-length shed porch on the front facade. It has a 20th-century rear ell.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. The farm is now owned by Surry County, which has developed it for recreational purposes. The property, but not the house, is open to the public.

Montpelier is a historic home in Surry County, Virginia, located near Cabin Point. While the home's builder and date of construction are uncertain, it was built by a member of the Cocke family, most likely one of two men named John Cocke. Its layout and architecture suggest that it was built in the latter half of the eighteenth century, although its date of construction has also been cited as circa 1724. The house is considered to be an "unusually distinctive example" of vernacular architecture in the Tidewater region; additionally, its features and layout provide important evidence as to how local architecture developed in the region. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 26, 1980.

Beechwood, also known as Jericho, is a historic home located near Beales, Southampton County, Virginia. The frame dwelling was built in several sections between about 1790 and late-19th centuries. It consists of a two-story, three-bay main block dated to about 1790 with a side-hall, double pile plan. It has a small one-bay wing at the east end; a two-bay, one-cell wing at the west; and a two-story, two-room ell off the west wing. The front facade features a one-story pedimented porch with a dentil cornice and full entablature supported on Tuscan order columns.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

Surry (formerly Cross Roads, McIntosh's Cross Roads, McIntoshs Cross Roads, Scuffletown, Smithville, Surry Court House, and The Crossroads) is an incorporated town in Surry County, Virginia, United States. The population was 244 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Surry County. Its name is derived from the historic county of Surrey in England.
