Artsonje Center is a private art museum in Seoul, Korea, located in Samcheong-dong, a neighborhood adjacent to known for its numerous art galleries, cafes, restaurants and boutiques. Founded in 1998, the museum introduces current and experimental contemporary art to the art world and public with its international exhibitions and educational programs.The marble multiplex was designed by Jong-Sung Kim and consists of 4 annexes that include exhibition halls, lecture halls, a restaurant, café and artshop. The CineCode Sonje movie theater is a good place to catch offbeat independent films.

The National Museum of Contemporary Art, Korea (Korean: 국립현대미술관; Hanja: 國立現代美術館; RR: Gungnipyeondaemisulgwan) (MMCA) is a contemporary art museum with four branches in Gwacheon, Deoksugung, Seoul and Cheongju. The museum was first established in 1969 as the only national art museum in the country accommodating modern and contemporary art of Korea and international art of different time periods.

The World Jewellery Museum is a museum in Seoul, South Korea. It contains ancient jewelry from Colombia, tribal ivory ornaments from Sudan, a collection of cross ornaments in Ethiopia, ornaments from the Miao people. There are also exhibits of ornaments from Morocco, Cambodia, Mongolia, Eritrea, India and Belgium. Permanent exhibitions are held on the first floor and special exhibitions are held on the second floor. From July to October 2008, a special exhibition of Chinese ornaments was held in honor of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

Jeongdok Public Library (정독도서관) is a library in Seoul, South Korea. It is located in Hwa-dong, Jongno-gu, on Bukchon-ro. On the campus of Jeongdok Public Library is Jongchinbu (종친부; 宗親府), Seoul Tangible Cultural Property number 9. Jongchinbu was constructed in 1433 and is one of three remaining Joseon Dynasty government buildings. The rest were destroyed in the Japanese invasions, occupation, or the Korean War.Until February 1976, the site was occupied by the campus of Kyunggi High School. The Jeongdok Library opened in January 1977 on the former site of the school.

Gallery Hyundai (Korean: 갤러리현대) is a contemporary art gallery in Seoul, South Korea. It was founded in 1970, initially in Insadong. It moved to Samcheong-ro, Sagan-dong in 1975. The founder and president of the gallery, Park Myung-ja introduced modern and contemporary art to the Korean public. Many exhibitions were held throughout the past four decades, including paintings by Philippe Pasqua, Lee Ufan, Kim Tschangyeul, Kim Whanki, Lee Joongseob, Chung Sanghwa and Park Su-geun. Also video artist, Paik Nam June held multiple solo exhibitions at Gallery Hyundai, and in 1990, Paik performed a shamanic ritual called A pas de Loup de Séoul à Budapest in the back courtyard of Gallery Hyundai to commemorate Joseph Beuys' death. Starting from 1987, Gallery Hyundai started to participate in international art fairs such as Art Chicago (1987-1992, 1996), FIAC (1995, 1996, 1999), Art Basel (1997-2002, 2004), Frieze Masters London (2014) and Frieze New York(2012–2015). 2015 marks Gallery Hyundai's 45th anniversary since its opening.

The Government-General Museum of Chōsen (Japanese: 朝鮮総督府博物館, Korean: 조선총독부박물관) was a museum in Seoul during the period of Japanese rule. Built in the grounds of Gyeongbokgung Palace for the 1915 Chōsen Industrial Exhibition,: 96  the museum opened on 1 December 1915. The museum did not operate as an independent agency, and the department under which it fell was subject to bureaucratic reorganization. The museum was disestablished in 1945 and its collections transferred to the National Museum of Korea,: 106  which opened on 3 December 1945. In 1998, the museum building was demolished, after it had come to be viewed as a "symbol of colonialism".

Bukchon Art Museum is an art museum in Seoul, South Korea. It has 150 pieces of Korean modern art, 200 pieces of Chinese art, 2500 of old documents of Joseon dynasty in total of 2850.

The Hall of Worthies, or Jiphyeonjeon (Korean pronunciation: [tɕi.pʰjʌn.dʑʌn]; Korean: 집현전; Hanja: 集賢殿), was a Korean royal research institute during the Joseon period. It was founded by King Sejong the Great in March 1420, and disbanded in June 1456. The Hall of Worthies is known for its role in compiling the Hunminjeongeum, the original treatise on Hangul.

Gyeongbokgung (Korean: 경복궁; Hanja: 景福宮), also known as Gyeongbokgung Palace or Gyeongbok Palace, was the main royal palace of the Joseon dynasty. Built in 1395, it is located in northern Seoul, South Korea. The largest of the Five Grand Palaces built by the Joseon dynasty, Gyeongbokgung served as the home of Kings of the Joseon dynasty, the Kings' households, as well as the government of Joseon. Gyeongbokgung continued to serve as the main palace of the Joseon dynasty until the premises were destroyed by fire during the Imjin War (1592–1598) and abandoned for two centuries. However, in the 19th century, all of the palace's 7,700 rooms were later restored under the leadership of Prince Regent Heungseon during the reign of King Gojong. Some 500 buildings were restored on a site of over 40 hectares. The architectural principles of ancient Korea were incorporated into the tradition and appearance of the Joseon royal court. In the early 20th century, much of the palace was systematically destroyed by Imperial Japan. On January 21, 1963, it was designated as a cultural property. Since the 1990s, the walled palace complex is gradually being restored to its original form. Today, the palace is arguably regarded as being the most beautiful and grandest of all five palaces. It also houses the National Palace Museum and the National Folk Museum within the premises of the complex.

Anti-appeasement steles were 19th century monuments built in Korea to ostracize Westerners. They were erected by Heungseon Daewongun at more than 200 major transportation hubs across the country, including the four streets of Jongno. They were built in 1871 (the 8th year of the reign of Emperor Gojong of the Joseon Dynasty). They were made of granite and were four cubits high, five cubits wide, and eight inches thick.
