Hall's Croft

The Almshouses are a group of grade I listed early-15th century almshouses in Church Street, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England. They adjoin the Guildhall which dates from the same time period. The almshouses still remain in use for their original purpose.

The Shakespeare Institute is a centre for postgraduate study dedicated to the study of William Shakespeare and the literature of the English Renaissance. It is part of the University of Birmingham, and is located in Stratford-upon-Avon. The Institute was set up in 1951 at Mason Croft, the former home of novelist Marie Corelli. Budgetary problems forced it to be relocated to the main campus at Birmingham during the 1970s, but under the guidance of Professor Stanley Wells, the Institute was returned to Mason Croft in the 1980s and its position was consolidated in 1996 with the opening of the purpose-built Shakespeare Institute Library. It has been described by the current director, Michael Dobson, as "the best place on earth in which to explore the impact Shakespeare’s work has had across four centuries of world culture".

Stratford-on-Avon is a local government district in southern Warwickshire, England. The district is named "Stratford-on-Avon" to distinguish it from its main town of Stratford-upon-Avon where the district council is based. The district is mostly rural and covers most of the southern half of Warwickshire. As well as Stratford, other significant places in the district includes the towns of Alcester, Southam, Shipston-on-Stour and Henley-in-Arden, and the large villages of Bidford-on-Avon, Studley and Wellesbourne, plus numerous other smaller villages and hamlets. It borders the Warwickshire districts of Warwick to the north, and Rugby to the north-east. It also borders the neighbouring counties of the West Midlands, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, and Northamptonshire.

The Grammar School of King Edward VI at Stratford-upon-Avon (commonly referred to as King Edward VI School or shortened to K.E.S.) is a grammar school and academy in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England, traditionally for boys only. However, since September 2013 the school has admitted girls into the Sixth Form. It is almost certain that William Shakespeare attended this school, leading to the school describing itself as "Shakespeare's School", although no physical records exist to prove this true.

Stratford-upon-Avon Guildhall is a municipal building in Church Street, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England. It is a Grade I listed building.

The Guild Chapel of the Holy Cross, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire is a chapel of 13th century origins. Founded by the Guild of the Holy Cross before 1269, it passed into the control of the town corporation in 1553, when the Guild was suppressed by Edward VI. The chapel stands on Church Street, opposite the site of William Shakespeare's home, New Place, and has historic connections to Shakespeare's family. The chapel was gifted an extensive series of wall-paintings by Hugh Clopton, an earlier owner of New Place, and John Shakespeare, Shakespeare's father, undertook their defacement in the later 1500s. The paintings have recently been conserved. Clopton undertook a major expansion of the chapel before his death in 1496, constructing a new nave which was incomplete when he died. The chapel was restored in a thirty-year programme undertaken by Stephen Dykes Bower from 1954-1983 and is a Grade I listed building. Owned and maintained by the Stratford-upon-Avon Town Trust, the chapel is used for services by King Edward VI School.

The Other Place is a black box theatre on Southern Lane, near to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon, England. It is owned and operated by the Royal Shakespeare Company. In 2006, an earlier version of the theatre closed and reopened as the temporary and larger Courtyard Theatre, while the Royal Shakespeare and Swan Theatres were redeveloped. In March 2016, The Other Place was reinstated as a 200-seat studio theatre.

The Falcon Hotel (branded as the Hotel Indigo since 2019) is a grade II* listed hotel, with origins in the early 16th century on Chapel Street in the centre of Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England.The half-timbered building was originally a single storey house, built around 1500. The second floor was added around 1645. In 1655-61 it was recorded as an inn, which makes it the oldest continuously licensed premises in Stratford. From 1834, The Royal Shakespeare Club held its annual dinner there. It gained grade II* listing in 1951.In 2014 the St James Hotel Group took ownership of the hotel, and in April 2017, began a major refurbishment of the building, employing specialist contractors, which took 18 months to complete. The building re-opened in January 2019 newly renamed as Hotel Indigo. The re-naming of the historic hotel faced local opposition, with opponents arguing that it showed disrespect to the town’s history. However the owners of the hotel have stated that the Falcon name will be continued by the tea rooms at the front of the building, which will retain the Falcon name, and have a wooden Falcon sign hung outside.Since its refurbishment, The hotel features 93 guest rooms, themed in either a Georgian townhouse, Tudor or contemporary style. Within the hotel is a restaurant called ‘The Woodsman’.It is now part of the Hotel Indigo chain.

Harvard House stands at what is now 26 High Street, Stratford-upon-Avon, in Warwickshire, England. Once known as the Ancient House, It was built in 1596, by Thomas Rogers, grandfather of the benefactor of Harvard University, John Harvard, following the disastrous fires in 1594 and 1595 which destroyed much of the town centre. The House has been cared for by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, on behalf of Harvard University, since 1990. It has been listed as a grade I listed building since October 1951.

New Place (grid reference SP201548) was William Shakespeare's final place of residence in Stratford-upon-Avon. He died there in 1616. Though the house no longer exists, the site is owned by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, which maintains it as a specially-designed garden for tourists.

The Chaucer Head Bookshop is a general and second hand bookseller in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England. It was founded in 1830 in Birmingham before moving to Stratford-upon-Avon in 1960.

Nash's House in Chapel Street, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England, is the house next door to the ruins and gardens of William Shakespeare's final residence, New Place. It is a grade I listed building and has been converted into a museum.The house was built around 1600 and belonged to Thomas Nash. The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust acquired New Place and Nash's House in 1876. The museum traces the history of Stratford-upon-Avon from the earliest settlers in the Avon Valley to Shakespeare's time.
