The Newport Tower (also known as Newport Office Center II and 525 Washington Boulevard) in Newport, Jersey City, New Jersey is the seventh tallest building in Jersey City, and eighth tallest in New Jersey. It has 37 floors, is 531 ft (162 m) tall, and is connected to a mall (called the Newport Centre Mall) within the complex. The mall is one of the few enclosed, regional shopping facilities in Hudson County. The building was developed by Melvin Simon & Associates in 1990. The Newport Tower is next to the Hudson River and is almost exactly across the river from the World Financial Center in Manhattan. The Newport Tower is a modern-style building. It is similar in appearance to the Willis Tower, (formerly known as Sears Tower) in Chicago, Illinois. The tower received a facelift in the summer of 2005; wooden panels have been installed on the lobby walls, and LCD advertisement screens added to the elevators. The colonnade in front of the building has been removed in July 2008. A new elevator management system, Schindler ID, was installed in the building in September 2009. On October 19, 2011, Multi-Employer Property Trust purchased the Newport Tower from Brookfield Properties for $377.5 million. Brookfield Properties took ownership of the Newport Tower in June 2006 after the $4.8 billion acquisition of Trizec Properties.

Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) is a not-for-profit organization and a membership association for risk managers. Its services include setting standards, training, education, industry networking, and promoting risk management practices. Founded in 1996 and headquartered in Jersey City, New Jersey, with additional offices in London, Washington, D.C., Beijing, and Hong Kong. GARP offers several foundational and certificate programs, the best known of which is the Financial Risk Manager (FRM) certification. GARP also runs initiatives such as the GARP Risk Institute (GRI) and GARP Benchmarking Initiative (GBI) for research and thought leadership efforts within the risk purview.

Pavonia Terminal was the Erie Railroad terminal on the Hudson River situated on the landfilled Harsimus Cove in Jersey City, New Jersey. The station opened in 1861 and closed in 1958 when the Erie Railroad moved its passenger services to nearby Hoboken Terminal. The New York, Susquehanna and Western Railway also ran commuter trains from the terminal and various street cars, ferries and the underground Hudson and Manhattan Railroad serviced the station. The station was abandoned in 1958 and demolished in 1961. The site was eventually redeveloped into the Newport district in the late 20th century. Pavonia was one of five passenger railroad terminals that lined the western shore of the Hudson Waterfront from the mid-19th to mid-20th centuries, along with those at Weehawken, Hoboken, Exchange Place, and Communipaw, with Hoboken being the only one still in service.

Newport (formerly known as Pavonia–Newport, Pavonia, or Erie) is a station on the PATH system. Located on Town Square Place (formerly Pavonia Avenue) at the corner of Washington Boulevard in the Newport neighborhood of Jersey City, New Jersey, it is served by the Hoboken–World Trade Center and Journal Square–33rd Street lines on weekdays, and by the Journal Square–33rd Street (via Hoboken) line on weekends. As of 2017, its estimated weekday use was nearly 20,000 passengers, up from 17,000 to 18,000 average weekday passengers in 2010.

The PS Washington Irving was a 4,000-short-ton (3,600 t) sidewheel day boat and the flagship of the Hudson River Day Line that operated on the Hudson River from 1913 to 1926. The Washington Irving collided with an oil barge in the fog on 1 June 1926 on the North River. With the aid of tugboats, it reached shore at Pier 12, Jersey City, where it sank soon thereafter. Out of 200 passengers and 105 crew, three died as a result of the accident.Its removal was complicated due to its sinking upon the site of the Holland Tunnel, which was under construction. It remained submerged there until 13 February 1927, when it was raised and determined to be a total loss. A bond was issued for its replacement.

Newport is a station on the Hudson–Bergen Light Rail (HBLR) located at Mall Drive East in Jersey City, New Jersey. There are two tracks and an island platform. Formerly known as Pavonia/Newport, current NJ Transit maps and timetables refer to this station as "Newport", following a similar change several years earlier in the name of the adjacent PATH station.The station opened on November 18, 2000. Northbound service from the station is available to Hoboken Terminal and Tonnelle Avenue, in North Bergen. Southbound service is available to West Side Avenue in Jersey City and 8th Street in Bayonne. Connection to PATH trains to midtown Manhattan and to New Jersey Transit commuter train service are available at Hoboken Terminal. Transfers to PATH trains to Newark, Harrison, and downtown Manhattan are available at Exchange Place. In January 2019, it was announced that connecting New York Waterway ferry service would be restored in the summer of 2019 at a new rebuilt pier. Ferry service was discontinued in January 2014 due to deteriorating pier conditions. The Hudson River Waterfront Walkway to Hoboken Terminal also had been recently completed allowing access to the ferry services at the terminal from Newport.As of 2014, it is the busiest station on the HBLR system (with an average of 6,122 passenger boardings daily).

Newport is a 600-acre (2.4 km2) master-planned, mixed-use community in Downtown Jersey City, New Jersey, United States, consisting of retail, residential, office, and entertainment facilities. The neighborhood is situated on the Hudson Waterfront on what had been the yards of Erie Railroad's Pavonia Terminal, located opposite Lower Manhattan and the neighborhood of Tribeca in New York City. Redevelopment of the neighborhood began in 1986 as a $10 billion project led by real-estate tycoon Samuel J. LeFrak and his firm The LeFrak Organization.

Newport Centre, commonly known as Newport Mall, is a shopping mall in Jersey City, New Jersey, that opened in 1987. It is a major component of the enormous Newport, Jersey City, a mixed-use community on the Hudson River waterfront across from Lower Manhattan. One of eleven shopping malls in New Jersey managed by Simon Property Group, it is located at 30 Mall Drive West, and is bound by Henderson Street on the west, Mall Drive East on the east, 6th Street on the south, and Newport Parkway on the north. The mall has a gross leasable area of 1,152,599 sq ft (107,080 m2). The super-regional mall is the first of its size in Hudson County. The anchor stores are AMC Theatres, Sears, JCPenney, Macy's, and Kohl's.

Water's Soul is a sculpture along the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway in the Newport section of Jersey City. It depicts a woman with closed eyes holding a finger to her lips in a state of silent contemplation and self-reflection. The work was conceived by Jaume Plensa and commissioned by LeFrak and Simon Property Group. Made of polyester resin, fiberglass, and marble dust, the work is white and stands 80 feet (24 m) tall. It faces the Hudson River and the New York City skyline. It was created at Plensa's Barcelona studio and shipped in 23 containers, each 40 feet (12 m) feet long, to the site. Of the work, Plensa stated, "It is my wish for Water’s Soul to become an icon for Newport and a landmark that visually connects it with New York City across the Hudson River. Just as Water’s Soul acts to unite the city of Jersey City and New York City, we are reminded that water is the great public space that unites and embraces communities as well as people around the world." "The water, when it moves, makes a special sound, very special," Plensa said in an interview, suggesting the sculpture's message is "to keep silent...to listen to the profound noise of the water talking to us."

Marbella Apartments is a 427 ft (130m) tall skyscraper in Jersey City, New Jersey. It is the 17th tallest building in Jersey City. When it was completed, it was the tallest residential building in Jersey City.Marbella was submitted for city planning board approval in 1998 and completed in 2003; the building has 40 floors, containing 412 apartments.A second tower called M2 opened in June 2016 and is slightly taller than the original one at 450 ft (137 m) and 38 floors, with 300 apartments.It is being eclipsed by a larger building boom and architectural revival that is taking place in Jersey City, which has now moved toward tall towers. The Marbella was designed to meet the demands of millennials, who want "to live in a place where they can walk downstairs to the gym, walk to work or to public transportation, and then head to a nearby bar or restaurant" according to Mack-Cali's CEO and executive vice president for development, Andrew Marshall. Although built in 2003, it is seen as part of a larger long term revival in Jersey City. In 2015, Robert Cotter and Jeff Wenger, one of whom is the urban planning director for Jersey City wrote:“Since 1980, 18 million square feet of office space have been developed on the Jersey City waterfront, generating the highest price per square foot office deals in New Jersey history and marking the success of the original ‘Wall Street West’ concept. Currently over 6,000 housing units are under construction with another 20,000 units approved by the planning Board. Much of this development is accommodated with high rise construction with approximately 28 buildings over 300 feet tall and 6 buildings over 500 feet with several more under construction. China Overseas has approvals for a new tower of 889 feet. Within a few years, Jersey City will overtake Newark as New Jersey’s most populous city….”

Harsimus Cove is a station on the Hudson–Bergen Light Rail (HBLR) located at Metro Plaza Drive in the Harsimus Section of downtown Jersey City, New Jersey. It is served by the 8th Street-Hoboken and West Side Avenue-Tonnelle Avenue branches at all times, and the Bayonne Flyer during rush hours. The station opened on November 18, 2000. There are two tracks and two side platforms, each with a canopy. It is located on a private right-of-way with 4th Street to the north and 2nd Street to the south.

St. Anthony High School was a four-year co-educational Catholic high school in Jersey City known for its high-powered basketball program coached by Bob Hurley, Sr. The school closed in 2017. It operated under the supervision of the Archdiocese of Newark and was affiliated for much of its history with St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, which owns the building. The school had been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools since 1997.
