Weston Lakes is a city in Fort Bend County, Texas, United States, within Greater Houston. Residents voted to incorporate the community in an election held on May 10, 2008. At the time of incorporation, there were about 2,300 residents living in Weston Lakes. The population was 3,853 as of the 2020 census.

Fulshear ( FUUL-shər) is a city in northwestern Fort Bend County, Texas, United States, and is located on the western edge of the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land metropolitan area. The population was 16,856 as of the 2020 census.

Jordan High School is a senior high school in Fulshear, Texas. It is a part of the Katy Independent School District (KISD). It opened to students in the fall of 2020.It was collectively named after the Jordan family. The building had a cost of over $206 million. Its size is above 650,000 square feet (60,000 m2) of space. It has three gymnasiums, an eight-lane, 25-yard (75 ft) natatorium, a 900-seat performing arts center, 9 tennis courts, a football field and baseball stadium with a smaller softball stadium. All the grade levels share the school equally; there are no segregated grade level areas. Jordan High School also has 2 cafeterias to fit its many students, with one being significantly larger than the other. Jordan opened in fall 2020 with only freshman and sophomores, but has grown to house juniors and seniors as of the 2022-2023 school year. The first class that graduated out of the school will be the Class of 2023.It took territory from Seven Lakes High School and Obra D. Tompkins High School. The school is the ninth comprehensive high school that its school district has established. It is also the biggest high school in Katy ISD.Jordan High School takes students in from Adams Junior High School and Seven Lakes Junior High School. Jordan High School is known for its quick achievements from sports and extracurricular, and is known to be a rising school for its sports teams.

Simonton is a city in Fort Bend County, Texas, United States, within the Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown metropolitan area. Simonton is located at the intersection of Farm roads 1093 and 1489, approximately fourteen miles northwest of Richmond and five miles west of Fulshear. As of the 2020 U.S. Census, the city population was 647, down from 814 at the 2010 census.

Royal High School is a public high school educating students grades 9–12 located in Waller County, Texas, United States, 1.5 miles from Brookshire, Texas, and 3 miles from the Katy city limits. It is one of the two secondary schools and the only high school part of the Royal Independent School District. It is attended by students residing in the city of Brookshire and unincorporated communities in Waller County, including Pattison and Sunny Side. The schools' zoning stretches partly into a small, non-residential portion of the city of Katy. Students compete in UIL Region 4A. In 2022, the school received a "C" rating from the Texas Education Agency.

Brazos Valley Sudbury School (BVSS) was a Sudbury school in unincorporated Waller County, Texas, near Brookshire. It was in proximity to Katy.The school, located in the Brazos Valley region, served ages 4 through 19. Its campus had 4,000 square feet (370 m2) of space.

On October 19, 2021, a corporate McDonnell Douglas MD-87, registered as N987AK, crashed and caught fire during take-off, 1,600 feet (500 m) from Houston Executive Airport. Those on board, 18 passengers and three crew members, were safely evacuated out of the aircraft. The aircraft was damaged beyond repair and was subsequently written-off.

The Katy Independent School District (KISD) is a public school district based in Katy, Texas, United States with an enrollment of over 85,700 students. In 2022, the district was given a grade of "A" by the Texas Education Agency. The district serves 181 square miles (469 km2) in parts of Harris County, Fort Bend County and Waller County. Most of the district lies within the boundaries of the City of Houston, the City of Katy or their municipalities' extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ). Unincorporated areas in Katy ISD include Barker, Cinco Ranch, and Cimarron. All residential areas of the district are assigned to an elementary school, a junior high school, and a high school by subdivision.

The Leonard E. Merrell Center (commonly known as the Merrell Center) is a 7,200-seat multi-purpose arena in Katy, Texas. It was built in 2005 and was the former home of the Katy Copperheads (National Indoor Football League) and the Katy Ruff Riders of the Intense Football League. The Merrell Center has hosted the Southland Conference Men's and Women's Basketball Tournaments from 2008 to 2022, but both tournaments will move to The Legacy Center on the campus of McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana in 2023. The Houston Stallions of the Lone Star Football League moved to the Merrell Center in 2011. As a concert venue the arena seats 1,500 for theater shows and up to 7,200 for arena concerts. Capacity for athletic events is 5,794. The arena can seat up to 1,200 for banquets. The arena contains a 21,600-square-foot (120' by 180') arena floor, big enough for small trade shows, a 3,000-square-foot (280 m2) meeting room that can be divisible into three smaller rooms, and a 6,300-square-foot (590 m2) lobby. The arena is also used for commencement ceremonies and high school basketball. Adjacent to the Merrell Center is the Katy ISD L. D. Robinson Pavilion & Rodeo Arena.

Obra D. Tompkins High School (OTHS) is a high school located in unincorporated Fort Bend County, Texas in Greater Katy, within Greater Houston. The school is part of the Katy Independent School District. Tompkins was created to relieve the overflow of students in the neighboring Seven Lakes High School which had almost 4,000 students during the 2012–2013 school year. In August 2013, Tompkins opened with only freshman and sophomore classes but had students in grades 9-12 beginning in August 2015. The school is named for Obra D. Tompkins, a long-serving educator in the Katy school district. It is located off Falcon Landing Blvd. and Gaston Road at the edge of the Cinco Ranch Line. However, as Tompkins experienced an influx of students, the new Jordan High School (Fulshear, Texas) was created to alleviate the growing number of students.
