Tumalo, Oregon

Tumalo State Park is a well-developed state park in Deschutes County, Oregon, United States. Established in 1954, the park is located northwest of the city of Bend and along the Deschutes River at a site home to many bird species. The park is popular for picnics, swimming, fishing, hiking, and camping, and is open year-round.

Tumalo Creek is a tributary, about 20 miles (32 km) long, of the Deschutes River, located in Deschutes County in Central Oregon, United States. It rises in the Cascade Range at 44.04706°N 121.598647°W / 44.04706; -121.598647 (Tumalo Creek source), where Middle Fork Tumalo Creek and North Fork Tumalo Creek meet, and forms several waterfalls, including the 97-foot (30 m) Tumalo Falls. Its mouth is on the Deschutes at 44.1159506°N 121.3394783°W / 44.1159506; -121.3394783.It is home to several species of trout, including the Columbia River redband trout. It is the primary drinking water source for the city of Bend. The lower reaches of the creek are often emptied for irrigation, drained by a tunnel flume at 44.09589°N 121.35966°W / 44.09589; -121.35966 (Tumalo Creek tunnel flume) and Tumalo Canal at 44.09591°N 121.35970°W / 44.09591; -121.35970 (Tumalo Canal source). In 1883, the first known canal to be dug from the creek was created to divert water to farms. The 1979 Bridge Creek Fire and related salvage logging increased erosion and damaged habitats in and near Tumalo Creek. Since 2003, a network of government agencies and volunteer groups have been working to restore fish and wildlife habitat along a 3-mile (5 km) stretch of the stream.

The Rock O' the Range Bridge, also called the Swalley Canal Bridge, is a bridge located north of Bend, Oregon, U.S., on a street adjacent to U.S. Route 97. It is the only covered span in the state of Oregon on the east side of the Cascade Range. It is also one of very few privately owned covered bridges in Oregon.

The Swalley Irrigation District supplies water to irrigators through a network of pipes and canals fed by the Deschutes River near Bend in the U.S. state of Oregon. The network, begun in 1899, is a closed system with an intake behind North Canal Dam in Bend and a main canal, the Swalley Canal, that runs north from the city for about 13 miles (21 km). The only covered bridge east of the Cascade Range in Oregon crosses the Swalley Canal. The district diverts about 82 CFS from the river during the irrigation season, April through October. Water requirements for Swalley have fallen by about 43 CFS over the years due to major water conservation projects and other efficiency projects and programs. Water savings from conservation projects means that more water stays in the river, where increased flow improves conditions for redband trout and other biological species. The district operates a small in-conduit hydroelectric plant that generates renewable energy from the water it diverts for irrigation purposes.

Awbrey Falls, is a waterfall located along Deschutes River in Deschutes County, in the U.S. state of Oregon. The waterfall is known for a long lava tube beneath the cascade.The mandatory portage for Awbrey Falls is on the right. The main channel should not be approached because of the high current over the waterfall.Approximately one mile before Awbrey Falls is a difficulty 2+ graded, low ledge rapids called Pot Hole. Immediately after Awbrey Falls is White Mile rapids with a difficulty of 3 that increases downstream.

The Charles Boyd Homestead is a group of three buildings that make up a pioneer ranch complex. It is located in Deschutes County north of Bend, Oregon, United States. The ranch buildings were constructed by Charles Boyd between 1905 and 1909. Today, the three surviving structures are the only ranch buildings that date back to the earliest period of settlement in the Bend area. The Boyd Homestead is listed as a historic district on the National Register of Historic Places.

The station is currently owned by Gcc Bend, LLC.On January 30, 2023 at 6 am, KMGX changed its format from adult contemporary to classic rock, branded as "The X 100.7".

KTWS (98.3 FM, "The Twins") is a commercial radio station broadcasting a Mainstream Rock format (Classic Rock to Active Rock) in Bend and Central Oregon in the U.S. state of Oregon. They are the legacy Rock station in Central Oregon for 32 years. They received the OAB (Oregon Association of Broadcasters) Radio Station of the Year award in 2003 , 2009, and again in 2022. They initially had two transmitters simulcasting their signal at startup in 1991. The first being located in Bend Oregon on Awbrey Butte(98.3 FM), and the second in Warm Springs Indian reservation on Eagle Butte(96.5 FM). This is how the station moniker "The Twins" originated. It has filed an application for a U.S. Federal Communications Commission construction permit to move to 98.5 MHz and increase ERP to 50,000 watts.
