Harwood, Maryland

Southern High School is a high school located in Harwood, Maryland, U.S., in Anne Arundel County. The school is operated by Anne Arundel County Public Schools. Southern was recognized as a Blue Ribbon School in 2009. They recently won the 2A State Lacrosse Championship 20–7, tying the record for most goals scored in a state championship game in Maryland state history. Also known as a great unified sports program which seeks participation and inclusion of every one.

Oakwood is a historic house at Harwood, Anne Arundel County, Maryland. It was built in the 1850s and is a 2+1⁄2-story, frame vernacular farmhouse with Greek Revival influenced details. It is a highly intact, mid-19th-century tobacco plantation dwelling and is associated with Sprigg Harwood, a leader in the failed initiative to have Maryland leave the Union and align with the newly formed Confederate States of America.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

Richland is a historic home at Harwood, Anne Arundel County, Maryland. It is a 2+1⁄2-story, frame, hip-roofed dwelling of approximately 3,000 square feet (280 m2). It was constructed for gentleman farmer Robert Murray Cheston (1849–1904) and his wife, the former Mary Murray (1859–1943). It is the only known late-19th-century rural Anne Arundel County dwelling definitively associated with a specific architectural firm. The plans were prepared by the Roanoke, Virginia based architectural firm of Noland and de Saussure, founded by William C. Noland. The home reflects both the Colonial Revival and Queen Anne styles. The house on the 332 acre Richland farm was built in 1893. In the 1950s, the Cheston family subdivided the property and sold the house with approximately 58 acres to the Talliaferro family, and sold the remaining acreage to the Catterton family. The Talliaferro family named their new parcel "Thanksgiving Farm". In 1996, the Heimbuch family purchased Thanksgiving Farm from the Talliaferro family, began planting vineyards1998, completed a restoration of the house in 2004, and opened a winery on the property in 2006.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

Christ Church, or Christ Episcopal Church, West River, is an historic Carpenter Gothic style Episcopal church at Owensville, Anne Arundel County, Maryland, United States. It is a small, board-and-batten church with a long narrow nave, small deep chancel, and an entrance porch on its south side. The church is reputed to be by the noted church architect, Richard Upjohn and was at least built from his published designs of 1852.Christ Church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

Dodon, (aka "Doden") is a 550-acre (2.2 km2) farm and former forced-labor tobacco plantation in Maryland, located near the South River about 10 miles (16 km) south west of Annapolis. Purchased in 1747 by the planter and politician Dr George H. Steuart, it remains the home of Steuart's descendants to this day. Steuart grew wealthy during the colonial era thanks to proprietarial patronage and the forced labor of enslaved people, but his family's prosperity and status was much reduced by the American Revolution and later by the American Civil War.

Obligation is a historic home at Harwood, Anne Arundel County, Maryland, United States. It was begun in 1743 and later enlarged in 1827, to two and one-half stories. The house was built for Thomas Stockett III, and was enlarged to its present configuration during the ownership of his grandson, Joseph Noble Stockett (1779-1858). Dr. Thomas Noble Stockett (1747-1802) was the son of Thomas III, and became a prominent citizen and served as a surgeon for the Maryland Line during the American Revolutionary War.Obligation was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1969.

Owensville Historic District is a national historic district at Owensville, Anne Arundel County, Maryland. It is located around a small crossroads community located at the intersection of Owensville Road (MD 255) and Owensville-Sudley Road. It consists of a concentration of historic buildings leading up to and clustered around the intersecting roads. It consists of 27 buildings, including two church complexes, 16 dwellings with their associated domestic outbuildings, and several agricultural buildings, including tobacco barns. Included in the district is the separately listed Christ Church. Much of the historic building stock dates between 1825 and 1875.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

Mary's Mount is a historic home at Harwood, Anne Arundel County, Maryland, United States. The earliest portion of Mary's Mount was built in 1771 for Col. Richard Harwood as a 1+1⁄2-story gambrel roof structure. The Bird family was to take possession of this property from 1820 to 1965. Jacob Wheeler Bird enlarged the house to its present two-story height in the early 19th century. The enlargements included two northern additions, each section of which is lower than its neighbor to the south, creating a "telescope" effect.Mary's Mount was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1969.

Quarter Place is a historic home located at Lothian in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, United States. It was built in 1860 and is a 2+1⁄2-story Gothic Revival–style frame dwelling. It consists of a main block with a 2-story rear wing. The main block is three bays wide with a central entrance and features a central cross-gable roof.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.
