Yarrow Water

Newark Tower is a large, ruined tower house standing in the grounds of Bowhill House, in the valley of the Yarrow Water three miles west of Selkirk in the Scottish Borders. In addition to the keep, sections of a gatehouse and wall survive. It has been designated a scheduled monument by Historic Environment Scotland.

Philiphaugh is a village by the Yarrow Water, on the outskirts of Selkirk, in the Scottish Borders. Originally referred to as the land owned as part of Philiphaugh Estate, the name is today more commonly used to describe the most southern parts of Selkirk. Philiphaugh rugby ground is the home of Selkirk Rugby Club. Selkirk Cricket Club is the site of the Battle of Philiphaugh, fought on 13 September 1645 at the height of the Wars of the Three Kingdoms. The grave of Tibbie Tamson (died 1790), a suicide from Selkirk buried in unconsecrated ground, is located at an isolated spot near Harehead Hill at the boundary between the Philiphaugh and Bowhill estates. The grave is maintained by way of an apology.

The Battle of Philiphaugh was fought on 13 September 1645 during the Wars of the Three Kingdoms near Selkirk in the Scottish Borders. The Royalist army of the Marquis of Montrose was destroyed by the Covenanter army of Sir David Leslie, restoring the power of the Committee of Estates.

Ashiestiel is a village in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland, in the Parish of Caddonfoot, on the south side of the River Tweed, 4m (6.5 km) east of Innerleithen.The original name of this village in the Royal Ettrick Forest was "Echesteile" in 1456. Ashiestiel House was the home of Sir Walter Scott from 1804 until he moved to Abbotsford House in 1812.Ashiestiel Hill rises to 402 m (1319 ft).

Caddonlee is a farm in the village of Clovenfords in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland, by the Caddon Water, near Caddonfoot where Caddon Water meets the Tweed . The nearest town is Galashiels. On the farm are traces of an auxiliary Roman fort allied to that main Roman outpost at Trimontium at Melrose

Yair, also known as The Yair, is an estate in the Scottish Borders. It stands by the River Tweed in the former county of Selkirkshire, 2.5 miles (4.0 km) north-west of Selkirk, and 28 miles (45 km) south of Edinburgh. The name comes from the old Scots word for a fish trap. The estate is centred on Yair House, which is protected as a category A listed building. The nearby Yair Bridge is also category A listed.

The Yair Bridge or Fairnilee Bridge is a bridge across the River Tweed at Yair, near Galashiels in the Scottish Borders.

The Caddon Water (Scottish Gaelic: Cadan) is a small river by the village of Caddonfoot, in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland. It rises on Windlestraw Law, four miles north of Innerleithen, and flows through the Stantling Craig Reservoir. It joins the river Tweed at Caddonfoot, having completed its journey after 11 miles (18 km).
