Michaniona (Greek: Μηχανιώνα) was a former municipality in the Thessaloniki regional unit, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform, the town/suburb is part of the municipality of Thermaikos, of which it is a municipal unit. Population 11,901 (2011). The municipal unit has an area of 21.569 km2. The seat of the municipality was in Nea Michaniona. The other communities in the municipal unit are Angelochori and Nea Kerasia. Michaniona is located near the site of the ancient city of Aenea. The town was settled by Greek refugees from the original Michaniona on the Cyzicus peninsula in the Sea of Marmara.

Nea Kerasia (Greek: Νέα Κερασιά) is a village and a community of the Thermaikos municipality. Before the 2011 local government reform it was part of the municipality of Michaniona, of which it was a municipal district. The 2011 census recorded 1,948 inhabitants in the village. The community of Nea Kerasia covers an area of 4.70 km2.

Aenea (; Ancient Greek: Αἴνεια, Aineia) was an ancient Greek city in northwesternmost Chalcidice, said to have been founded by Aeneas, and was situated, according to Livy, opposite Pydna, and 15 miles from Thessalonica. It appears to have stood on the promontory of Megalo Embolo, which forms the northwest corner of the peninsula of Chalcidice, and which, being about 10 geographical miles in direct distance from Thessalonica, may be identified with the promontory Aeneium of Pseudo-Scymnus. Aeneia must therefore have been further north than Pydna. It was colonised by the Corinthians. It is mentioned by Herodotus, and continued to be a place of importance down to the time of the Roman wars in Greece, although we are told that a great part of its population was removed to Thessalonica, when the latter city was founded by Cassander. The city minted coins in antiquity, some of which survive today. The site of Aenea is located near modern Michaniona.

Angelochori (Greek: Αγγελοχώρι) is a village in the municipal unit of Thermaikos, in the Thessaloniki regional unit, Greece. It is located to the east of Cape Megalo Embolo (Μεγάλο έμβολο), at an average elevation of 16 meters above the sea level.

Agia Triada (Greek: Αγία Τριάδα) is a village and a community of the Thermaikos municipality. Before the 2011 local government reform it was part of the municipality of Thermaikos, of which it was a municipal district. The 2011 census recorded 3,023 inhabitants in the village. The community of Agia Triada covers an area of 5.075 km2.

Cape Megalo Embolo (Greek: Μεγάλο έμβολο, 'Great Point') or Karaburnu (Turkish 'Black Cape'), probably the ancient Aeneium or Aineion (Ancient Greek: Αἰνειῶν), is a cape southwest of Thessaloniki, Greece, located next to the village of Angelochori. There is a lighthouse. The line from Megalo Embolo to the mouth of the Vardar/Axios is sometimes considered to define the entrance of the Thermaic Gulf. Geographically, it is the westernmost point of the Halkidiki peninsula, although administratively it belongs to the regional unit of Thessaloniki. It appears to correspond to the promontory of Aeneium described in the Periodos to Nicomedes of Pseudo-Scymnus, and was probably the site of the ancient city of Aenea. The smaller cape Karabournaki, Mikro Karabournou, or Mikro Emvolo is found to its northeast.

Neoi Epivates (Greek: Νέοι Επιβάτες) is a small suburban town outside Thessaloniki, next to Peraia. It is part of the municipality of Thermaikos in the Thessaloniki regional unit. The origin of the settlement was the arrival of 631 refugees from the town Epivates in Eastern Thrace as a result of the Greco-Turkish War (1919–22). It was formerly known in Turkish as Bahçe Çiflik (Greek: Μπαξέ Τσιφλίκι), mentioned also in a popular song of Vassilis Tsitsanis.

Thermaikos (Greek: Θερμαϊκός) is a suburban municipality of the regional unit of Thessaloniki, Greece. It consists of the municipal units Thermaikos, Epanomi and Michaniona. The municipal unit Thermaikos is subdivided into the communities Peraia, Neoi Epivates (Bahçe Çiflik) and Agia Triada. The municipality Thermaikos has an area of 133.41 km2 and the municipal unit Thermaikos has an area of 20.300 km2. Thermaikos stretches for 10 km along the southeastern coast of the Thermaic Gulf. The seat of the municipality is in Peraia.

Peraia (Greek: Περαία) is a suburb of Thessaloniki, Greece. It is part of the municipality Thermaikos. Peraia is located on the south coast of the Thermaic Gulf, 15 km south of Thessaloniki city centre and 4 km west of Thessaloniki International Airport.

Epanomi (Greek: Επανομή) is a town and was a former municipality in the Thessaloniki regional unit, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality of Thermaikos, of which it is a municipal unit. It is located 25 km away from the city center of Thessaloniki. The municipal unit includes the village of Mesimeri, with a combined population of 10,810 (2011). The municipal unit Epanomi has an area of 91.541 km2, and the community Epanomi has an area of 78.716 km2.Epanomi has a long, historic path as it is the second oldest establishment in Macedonia (Greece) after Angelochori (as archaeologist Theocharis Pazaras indicated with his work) since the area of Epanomi has been inhabited since the neolithic period. According to the statistics of Vasil Kanchov ("Macedonia, Ethnography and Statistics"), 2.300 Greek Christians lived in the village in 1900. The town circulates its economy on tourism and farming, as it is well known among Greeks for its coasts and organized beautiful beaches (awarded annually the blue flag) easily approached from Thessaloniki. It is also known and visited for its tradition in good wine and tsipouro (a strong distilled alcoholic beverage made by fermentation of grape pomace). The local football team Anagennisi Epanomi F.C. has recently played in the second division in Greece. Stavros Sarafis footballer of PAOK and the National Team of Greece was from Epanomi.

Dicaea or Dikaia (Ancient Greek: Δικαία or Δίκαια) was an ancient Greek city in northwest Chalcidice. It was an Eretrian colony as seen from the Athenian tribute lists.The site of Dicaea is located at Nea Kallikrateia, near modern Epanome.

Plagiari (Greek: Πλαγιάρι) is a village and a community of the Thermi municipality. Before the 2011 local government reform it was part of the municipality of Mikra, of which it was a municipal district. The 2011 census recorded 5,392 inhabitants in the village. The community of Plagiari covers an area of 12.50 km2.
