Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village is an open-air museum located in Amherst, New York. The Museum's mission is to preserve, interpret, and exhibit the agricultural history and rural heritage of the Buffalo Niagara region. A 35-acre (140,000 m2) site, the Museum includes 10 historic buildings moved from their original sites, a main exhibit building, a collections storage facility, the Niederlander Research Library, and a Museum Store. An educational institution, BNHV was chartered by the State of New York. Formed as a department of the Town of Amherst, the museum was privatized in January 2011. The name changed in 2012.

Lake Tonawanda was a prehistoric lake that existed approximately 10,000 years ago at the end of the last ice age, in Western New York, United States.The lake existed on the southern (upper) side of the Niagara Escarpment east of the present course of the Niagara River between Early Lake Erie to the south and Glacial Lake Iroquois (the ancestor of Lake Ontario) to the north. During the retreat of the glaciers, the water levels of the Great Lakes were higher. Lake Tonawanda was created and fed by the elevated waters of Lake Erie. Lake Tonawanda itself was drained into Lake Ontario by a series of falls over the escarpment, including one at present day Lockport, New York. The lake evaporated when the waters of Lake Erie dropped below the level of the feeder streams to the lake. Subsequently Lake Erie drained over the escarpment entirely through Niagara Falls, which marks roughly the western terminus of the former lake bed. The remains of the previous falls, which rivaled Niagara Falls in grandeur, can be seen along the escarpment. The sinking of homes in the lakebed has been an ongoing problem in communities such as Amherst, New York.

Pound–Hitchins House, also known as “Mount Providence” and Ruhlmann House, is a historic home located at Lockport, Niagara County, New York. It was built about 1833 and is a two-story, five-bay, Greek Revival style dwelling with a large two-story wing. It has a side-gable roof and end chimneys, and is constructed of large-block ashlar Gasport limestone. It features an elaborate central entry with an original six-panel wood door recessed slightly behind two engaged Ionic order columns in antis with sidelights and panels.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015.

Lockport City High School (also LHS) is a comprehensive New York public high school located on Lincoln Avenue in Lockport, east of the city of Niagara Falls in the Lockport City School District, serving ninth to twelfth grade students. It is the only high school within the district, and is the successor to Aaron Mossell Junior High School. The school is governed under the authority of the New York State Education Department, whose standardized examinations are designed and administered by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York. The high school was established in 1954.

High and Locust Streets Historic District is a national historic district located at Lockport in Niagara County, New York. The district encompasses 120 contributing buildings in a predominantly residential section of Lockport. The district developed between about 1840 and 1936, and includes buildings in a variety of architectural styles including Greek Revival, Italianate, Queen Anne, Colonial Revival, Classical Revival, and Bungalow / American Craftsman. Located in the district are the separately listed Chase-Crowley-Keep House, Chase-Hubbard-Williams House, and Thomas Oliver House. Other notable buildings include the F.N. Nelson House (c. 1850), Calvin Haines/Alonzo J. Mansfield House (c. 1860), J. Dunville House (c. 1907), Ambrose S. Beverly House (c. 1875), Dr. Martin S. Kittinger House (c. 1870), and F. N. Nelson House/Lockport Home for the Friendless (c. 1850).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.
