Bologhine

Basilique Notre Dame d'Afrique (English: “Basilica of Our Lady of Africa”) is a Catholic basilica in Algiers, Algeria. It is the origin of the modern Catholic devotion to Our Lady of Africa. Pope Pius IX granted two Pontifical decrees towards the shrine on the same day on 15 April 1876: The first decree invoked to canonically crown the venerated Marian image enshrined within. The coronation rites was executed by the Archbishop of Carthage Charles Lavigerie on 30 April 1876. The second decree which raised the sanctuary to the status of Basilica based on an "immemorial custom". (Pope Benedict XV later regulated to limit these privileges in 1918 to Papal edicts unless an ancient custom already refers to a building as a "Basilica".)

The Apostolic Nunciature to Algeria is an ecclesiastical office of the Catholic Church in Algeria. It is a diplomatic post of the Holy See, whose representative is called the Apostolic Nuncio to Algeria and enjoys the rank of an ambassador. The office of the nunciature is located in Bologhine-Alger. The Vatican established the position of Delegate to Northern Africa on 27 February 1965; John Gordon held that post until 14 July 1967. Sante Portalupi succeeded him on 27 September 1967. The delegate's responsibilities were modified as the Holy See developed relationships with countries in the delegate's area of responsibility. Portalupi took on the title of Apostolic Pro-Nuncio to Algeria on 6 March 1972.

USMA Stadium (Arabic: ملعب إتحاد الجزائر العاصمة) is a multi-use stadium in Aïn Bénian, just outside Algiers, Algeria, that is currently under construction. Once completed, it will be used mostly for football matches and will host the home matches of USM Alger. The stadium will have a capacity of 25,000 spectators. It replaces their current stadium Omar Hammadi Stadium.

Omar Hamadi Stadium (Arabic: ملعب عمر حمّادي) is a multi-purpose stadium in Bologhine, Algiers, Algeria. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of USM Alger. The stadium has a capacity of 17,500 people.

St. Eugene Cemetery (Arabic: سانت يوجين مقبرة) is one of the most famous cemeteries in Algeria. It is situated in a suburb of the city of Algiers in the commune of Bologhine. Covering an area of 14.5 hectares, it lies at the foot of Notre Dame d'Afrique, and is maintained by twenty employees In 2012, the President of the French Republic François Hollande visited it.It comprises tombs of numerous Algerian notables and it is one of the most preferred place for actors and actresses and other artists (opera singers, musicians, painters, sculptors, architects, writers, poets). It also includes the tombs of several scientists, academicians and sportspeople.

The Algiers Observatory was built in the late 19th century in the Algiers suburb of Bouzaréah, Algeria, North Africa. It participated in the Astrographic Catalogue project, taking the zone between -2 and +4 degrees to expose 1,260 plates between the years 1891 and 1911. At the tail end of that time, the director of the installation was François Gonnessiat. It is now known as the Centre de Recherche en Astronomie Astrophysique et Géophysique (CRAAG), where it combines astronomy with work in astrophysics, and geophysical research, including the monitoring of earthquakes.

Mohamed Ferhani Stadium (Arabic: ملعب محمد فرحاني) is a multi-purpose stadium in Bab El Oued, Algiers, Algeria. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of Espérance de Bab El Oued. The stadium has a capacity of 3,800 people.

The Battle of Bab el Oued (French: Bataille de Bab el Oued) was a violent confrontation which occurred during the latter stages of the Algerian War (1954–1962) between the French Army and the Organisation armée secrète (OAS) which opposed Algerian independence. It took place in Bab El Oued, then a working-class European quarter of Algiers, from 23 March to 6 April 1962.

Bab El Oued is a neighbourhood in Algiers, the capital of Algeria, along the coast north of the city centre. As of 2008, the population of the commune of Bab El Oued was 64,732.

El Kettar Cemetery (Arabic: مقبرة القطار) is one of the most famous cemeteries in Algeria. It is situated in a suburb of the city of Algiers in the commune of Oued Koriche. It opened in 1838 replacing the cemetery of Sidi Abderrahmane destroyed in 1830. It was previously known as Dar El Ghrib (the unknown's residence) since foreigners of the city's limit were buried there. The current name, El Kettar (distillery in Arabic), is due to the distillation of jasmine in the Bridja, a funeral monument dating from the Ottoman era. It was built on a steep hill cemetery, because at the time of colonization, the French authorities forbade Muslims to bury their dead in flat terrain. It comprises tombs of numerous Algerian notables and it is one of the most preferred place for actors and actresses and other artists (opera singers, musicians, painters, sculptors, architects, writers, poets). It also includes the tombs of several scientists, academicians and sportspeople. The cemetery also contains paintings by Émile Gaudissard.
