Talcott Mountain Science Center

Talcott Mountain State Park is a 574-acre (232 ha) public recreation area located on Talcott Mountain in the towns of Avon, Bloomfield, and Simsbury, Connecticut. The state park features the Heublein Tower, a 165-foot-high (50 m) mountaintop lookout. Access to the tower and its associated museum is via a 1.25-mile-long (2 km) trail that takes 30 to 40 minutes to walk. The park offers picnicking, views of the surrounding area, and hiking along the Metacomet Trail.

The 165-foot-tall (50 m) Heublein Tower is located in Talcott Mountain State Park in Simsbury, Connecticut, United States and provides panoramic views of the Hartford skyline, the Farmington River Valley, and surrounding areas that are particularly spectacular in the fall. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. The correct pronunciation of the tower is debated. The Heublein family came from Germany, whence the pronunciation HOY-blyne, but after immigrating to the United States, over the years it was pronounced HY-blyne. After Heublein Inc. was bought by the R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in 1982, advertising was run on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, who pronounced it HEW-blyne.

WCCC (106.9 FM) – branded K-Love – is a non-commercial contemporary Christian radio station licensed to serve Hartford, Connecticut. Owned by the Educational Media Foundation, WCCC does not broadcast any local programming, functioning as the K-Love network affiliate for Greater Hartford, the Pioneer Valley and portions of the Naugatuck Valley. The station's transmitter is located in West Hartford; in addition to a standard analog transmission, WCCC is also available online.

WNWW (1290 AM "Faith 1290") is a radio station licensed to West Hartford, Connecticut, and serves the Greater Hartford area. The station is owned by the University of Northwestern – St. Paul. WNWW airs a religious radio format consisting of teaching and talk programs. WNWW is a class D AM station operating with 490 watts during the day and eleven watts at night per FCC rules. Programming is supplied by the Faith Radio service of the University of Northwestern - St. Paul based in Roseville, Minnesota. Hosts include Rick Warren, Jim Daly, David Jeremiah, Chuck Swindoll, and Charles Stanley.

Renbrook School is an independent, private day school in West Hartford, Connecticut. Founded in 1935, Renbrook is an independent day school for students in three divisions; Beginning School for students in preschool through kindergarten, Lower School for grades 1-4, and Upper School for grades 5-8. With over 300 students, class sizes of 10–15 are typical. Located on over 75-acres atop Avon Mountain, the main building was originally the home of Frederick Rentschler.

The Revolutionary War Campsite is a historic archaeological site in West Hartford, Connecticut. It was the site of a 1778 encampment of Continental Army soldiers during the American Revolutionary War. The site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

The East Weatogue Historic District is a 490-acre (200 ha) historic district in the town of Simsbury, Connecticut that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990. It then included 102 contributing buildings, 10 contributing sites, 11 contributing structures, and one other contributing object. The district encompasses a largely agrarian rural village centered at the junction of Hartford Road and East Weatogue Street, whose early development dates to the late 17th century, with the oldest surviving buildings dating to 1730. Most of the properties in the district are Colonial, Federal, or Greek Revival in character, with only a few later Victorian houses. In the early 20th century Colonial Revival houses sympathetic to the earlier buildings.

The Pinchot Sycamore is a large American sycamore (Platanus occidentalis) in Simsbury, Connecticut. It is the largest tree in Connecticut. When measured by the Connecticut Botanical Society in 2016, the Pinchot Sycamore's trunk was over 28 feet (8.5 m) around and 100 feet (30 m) tall, with an average canopy diameter of 121 feet (37 m). The sycamore is estimated to be at least 200 years old, and possibly over 300 years old. The tree was named in honor of influential conservationist and Connecticut resident Gifford Pinchot. It was originally dedicated to Pinchot in 1965, and re-dedicated with an engraved stone marker in 1975. The Pinchot Sycamore is located on the east bank of the Farmington River, near the base of Talcott Mountain, south of the town center of Simsbury. Since the completion of the Pinchot Sycamore Lighting Project by the town in 1997, the tree is lit by floodlights at night. The Pinchot Sycamore Park surrounds the tree; the park includes a launching point onto the Farmington River for small boats. It is a popular area for canoeing.According to the conservation group American Forests in 2000, the Pinchot Sycamore was scheduled to be listed in the 2001 edition of the National Register of Big Trees as one of the two largest known American sycamores in the United States, tied with a tree in Bath County, Virginia. In the 2008-2009 edition, a larger tree in Ashland, Ohio is listed as the champion American sycamore.In 2005, a guitar made from a fallen bough of the Pinchot Sycamore was auctioned off by the Farmington River Watershed Association. The Pinchot Sycamore sustained some damage to its canopy as a result of an early snowstorm in October 2011; however, it was not diminished in size, and its large recognizable lower limbs remain intact.

The Southwest District School is a historic school building at 430 Simsbury Road in Bloomfield, Connecticut. Built in 1858, it is one of the town's few surviving 19th-century district school buildings. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.

The Avon Congregational Church is a Congregational Church building at 6 West Main Street in Avon, Connecticut. Built in 1819 for a congregation founded in 1754, it is a high-quality example of Federal period architecture, and one of the finest works of architect David Hoadley. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. The congregation is affiliated with the United Church of Christ.

Evergreen Cemetery is a historic cemetery in Avon, Connecticut, United States. It was established in 1860, making it one of the oldest cemeteries in the area. Many of the town's early settlers and notable figures rest here.

WTIC (1080 kHz; "WTIC NewsTalk 1080") is a commercial AM radio station in Hartford, Connecticut. It airs a news–talk format and is owned by Audacy, Inc. The station's studios and offices are on Executive Drive in Farmington.WTIC is a Class A clear-channel station with a transmitter power output of 50,000 watts, the maximum permitted for U.S. AM stations. Its transmitter site is a two-tower facility off Deercliff Road in Avon, Connecticut. WTIC has a single tower, non-directional signal in the daytime, providing at least secondary coverage to almost all of Connecticut, as well as large portions of southern Massachusetts and the outer suburbs of New York City. At night, when AM band signals travel much farther, WTIC uses both towers in order to create a directional pattern, primarily to protect KRLD in Dallas, Texas, the other Class A station on 1080 AM. Even with this restriction, WTIC can be heard at night over much of the eastern half of North America. WTIC is the primary entry point (PEP) for the Emergency Alert System (EAS) in Connecticut.
