Buschhoven

Der Eiserne Mann (The Iron Man) is an old iron pillar partially buried in the ground in the German national forest of Kottenforst-Ville Nature Park, about two kilometers north-east of the village Dünstekoven. It is a roughly rectangular metal bar with about 1.2 m above ground and approximately 1.0 m below ground. The pillar is currently located at a meeting of trails which were built in the early 18th century through the formerly pathless forest area, but it is believed to have stood in another nearby location before that time. The pillar is a unique oddity in Central Europe, and is alleged by some to be an out-of-place artifact. It was first mentioned in a 17th-century document, where it was used as a village boundary marker. There are some old aqueducts in the vicinity along with an ancient stone walkway. A metallurgical investigation in the 1970s showed that the pillar is made of pig iron. It was poured into an earthen trench, consistent with medieval methods of ironworking.After the long exposure to the weather, the iron man shows signs of weathering but there is remarkably little trace of rust. It is located at 50.70757° N by 6.96105° E at an elevation of approximately 159 m.

Morenhoven is a farming village in the municipality Swisttal in the North Rhine-Westphalian Rhein-Sieg district. It is situated approximately 12 km west of Bonn. In 2007 it had 1650 inhabitants.

The Kottenforst is a large forest, about 40 km² in area, to the south, west and north of the city of Bonn in Germany. It is part of the Rhineland Nature Park (1,045 km²) and forms its eastern side.

Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences (Alanus Hochschule für Kunst und Gesellschaft) is a state-accredited private university in Alfter (near Bonn), Germany, providing education in the arts and social sciences up to doctorate level. It has offered accredited arts degrees since 2003 and other degrees since 2006. In 2010, the university was awarded institutional accreditation and the right to award doctorates by the German Council of Science and Humanities.The university was founded as an anthroposophical art school in 1973. In cooperation with Rudolf Steiner University College, it publishes the international academic journal Research on Steiner Education.

Dünstekoven is a small farming village in the municipality Swisttal in the North Rhine-Westphalian Rhein-Sieg district. It is situated approximately 20 km west of Bonn. In 2008 it had 620 inhabitants. Duenstekoven is located in the neighbourhood of Heimerzheim.

Rheinbach Römerkanal station is a railway station in the eastern part of the municipality of Rheinbach, located in the Rhein-Sieg-Kreis district in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

Alfter (Kölsch: Alefte) is a municipality in the Rhein-Sieg district, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is situated approximately 6 km west of Bonn.

The Federal Ministry of Defence (German: Bundesministerium der Verteidigung, pronounced [ˈbʊndəsminɪsˌteːʁiʊm deːɐ̯ fɛɐ̯ˈtaɪ̯dɪɡʊŋ] (listen)), abbreviated BMVg, is a top-level federal agency, headed by the Federal Minister of Defence as a member of the Cabinet of Germany. The ministry is headquartered at the Hardthöhe district in Bonn and has a second office in the Bendlerblock building in Berlin. According to Article 65a of the German Constitution (Grundgesetz), the Federal Minister of Defence is Commander-in-chief of the Bundeswehr, the German armed forces, with around 265,019 active soldiers and civilians. Article 115b decrees that in the state of defence, declared by the Bundestag with consent of the Bundesrat, the command in chief passes to the Chancellor. The ministry currently has approximately 3,730 employees. Of these, 3,230 work in Bonn while around 500 work in the Bendlerblock building in Berlin.

Hardthöhe is a district at the western edge of Bonn, Germany. The headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Defense is located in Hardthöhe since 1960. Hardthöhe was not part of Bonn before 1969. Instead, it belonged to the Amt Duisdorf. In 1969, Hardthöhe, together with Duisdorf and Lengsdorf, were assigned to the municipal district of Hardtberg, Bonn.

The Armed Forces Staff, in the meaning of General staff, of the German Bundeswehr (German: Führungsstab der Streitkräfte - Fü S; literal: Command staff of the armed forces) was the central department of the Federal Ministry of Defence (MOD) in direct subordination to the Inspector General of the Bundeswehr (en: Chief of Staff of the Federal Armed Forces) and one of the five staff headquarters in the military command of the German Bundeswehr. The Armed Forces Staff was thus at the same time a supreme military command authority and the top level ministerial staff organisation, authorised, mandated and competent to overall military defence planning, basics and concepts of military policy, planning of operational command and control, as well as to plans a policy of personnel education and training. In 2012, there existed supreme military command authorities in the MOD as follows: Armed Forces Staff (Führungsstab der Streitkräfte – Fü S; General Staff of the Armed Forces) Army Staff (Führungsstab des Heeres – Fü H; Army General Staff) Air Force Staff (Führungsstab der Luftwaffe – Fü L; Air Force General Staff) Navy Staff (Führungsstab der Marine – Fü M) Medical Staff (Führungsstab des Sanitätsdienstes – Fü San; Medical Service Staff)Parts of these top-level staff authorities were merged in order to establish the new high command authorities of the German Bundeswehr as follow: Army Command (Kommando Heer – Kdo Heer) Air Force Command (Kommando Luftwaffe – Kdo Luftwaffe) Navy Command (Kommando Marine – Kdo Marine)In line to the new Bundeswehr command structure, the remaining staff elements were used on the MOD level to form: a Planning Division an Armed Forces Command and Control Division and a Strategy and Operations Division.

The Army Staff, in the meaning of the Army general staff, of the German Army (German: Führungsstab des Heeres - Fü H) was a department of the Federal Ministry of Defence and one of the five staff headquarters in the military command of the Bundeswehr. The Army Staff was thus at the same time a ministerial division and the highest level of military command within the German Army. It was merged with the other high command authorities of the German Army to form the Army Command (Kommando Heer) in 2012.
