Zar (Armenian: Զառ), is a village in the Kotayk Province of Armenia.

Kamaris (Armenian: Կամարիս), known as Gyamrez until 1978, is a village in the Kotayk Province of Armenia.

The 1679 Armenia earthquake (also called Yerevan earthquake or Garni earthquake) took place on June 4 in the Yerevan region of Armenia, then part of the Safavid Iran.Numerous buildings were destroyed as a result of the earthquake. In Yerevan most notable structures were damaged. The Yerevan Fortress was destroyed, so were the following churches: Poghos-Petros, Katoghike, Zoravor and the Gethsemane Chapel.Furthermore, the nearby Kanaker village was destroyed. The classical Hellenistic Temple of Garni also collapsed. Among many churches and monasteries that were reduced to ruins were Havuts Tar, Saint Sargis Monastery of Ushi, Hovhannavank, Geghard, and Khor Virap.

Zovk (Armenian: Զովք), is a village in the Kotayk Province of Armenia.

Gegham mountains (or Gegham Ridge; Armenian: Գեղամա լեռնաշղթա, romanized: Geġama lernasheghta) are a range of mountains in Armenia. The range is a tableland-type watershed basin of Sevan Lake from east, inflows of rivers Araks and Hrazdan from north and west, Azat and Vedi rivers from south-west and Arpachai river from south. The average elevation of the Gegham mountain range is near 2500m. The range is of volcanic origin including many extinct volcanoes. The range is 70 km length and 48 km width, and stretch between Lake Sevan and the Ararat plain. The highest peak of the Gegham mountains is the Azhdahak, at 3597m. They are formed by a volcanic field, containing Pleistocene-to-Holocene lava domes and cinder cones. The highland reaches a height of 1800–2000m up to 3000m in the dividing ridge.

Katnaghbyur (Armenian: Կաթնաղբյուր, also Romanized as Kat’naghbyur, Katnaghbur, and Katnakhpyur; formerly, Agadzor, Agadarasi) is a town in the Kotayk Province of Armenia.

Akunk (Armenian: Ակունք, also Romanized as Akunq; formerly until 1946, Bashgyukh) is a village in the Kotayk Province of Armenia, located 6 km northeast of Abovyan and situated at the foot of Mount Hatis. The village was founded in 1829 by Armenian immigrants from Persia and Western Armenia, while the current population is Armenian and Yazidi. The local economy is heavily dependent on agriculture, based primarily on grain farming, orchard cultivation, and cattle-breeding. Akunk has a school, house of culture, library, and east of the village is a shrine of Poghos-Petros of the Late Middle Ages. A cyclopean fortress is also nearby.

Saranist (also, Saramist and Tutiya) is a former village in the Kotayk Province of Armenia.

Aramus (Armenian: Արամուս) is a village in the Kotayk Province of Armenia. Its located at 43 km of the Getar river and 25 km of the armenian capital, Yerevan.

Nor Gyugh (Armenian: Նոր Գյուղ, also Romanized as Nor Gyukh; formerly, Tazagyukh) is a town in the Kotayk Province of Armenia. 'Nor Gyugh' translates as 'New Village' in English. The village is mainly populated by Armenians but has a Kurdish minority (including Yazidis).

Kotayk (Armenian: Կոտայք), formerly known as Yelgovan, is a village in the Kotayk Province of Armenia.

Zovashen (Armenian: Զովաշեն, formerly, Dallaklu) is a village in the Kotayk Province of Armenia. The village is overwhelmingly ethnic Armenian (86%) while the remaining population is Kurdish (14%) and the locals are mainly engaged in agriculture.
