Beaumont, Puy-de-Dôme

The canton of Beaumont is an administrative division of the Puy-de-Dôme department, central France. Its borders were not modified at the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. Its seat is in Beaumont.It consists of the following communes: Beaumont Ceyrat Saint-Genès-Champanelle

The Roman theater of Montaudou is a performance building built in Gaul, in the city of Arveni, in the present-day commune of Ceyrat in the Puy-de-Dôme département. Its remains have been described since the early 19th century, thanks to the presence of a long wall some fifty meters long, known locally as the Saracen Wall. First interpreted as a sanctuary dedicated to Mercury, then as a Roman villa, the hypothesis of an ancient Roman theater emerged in the second half of the 20th century. However, it was not until a series of surveys in the 2000s that this interpretation was validated. Built at the end of the 1st century with a diameter of 51 m, the theater was extended to 81 m in the second half of the 2nd century. However, little is known about the building's evolution and abandonment. While it is now accepted that the theater is not isolated, particularly from probable dwellings and a potential temple with a centered plan, the exact nature of this pole located 1.5 km southwest of Augustonemetum/Clermont-Ferrand is not known, and the hypothesis of a secondary agglomeration independent of the Arverne capital has been put forward.

Among the sixteen libraries of Clermont Auvergne Métropole Library System, this library is dedicated to Auvergne. Classified for its old, rare or precious collections, the library is also a regional documentation library which works in conjunction with the Bibliothèque nationale de France to ensure the collection by legal deposit and the conservation of books and periodicals printed in Auvergne.

The University of Auvergne (Université d'Auvergne), also known as “Universite d'Auvergne Clermont-Ferrand I” or Clermont-Ferrand I, was a French public university, based in Clermont-Ferrand, in the region of Auvergne. It was under the Academy of Clermont-Ferrand. It was the head of PRES Clermont Université consortium; PRES being the league of elite universities of France. On 1 January 2017, the university merged with Blaise Pascal University to form the University Clermont Auvergne. The Université d’Auvergne was founded in 1519 and as such in 1806 as a medical school. It became the Université d’Auvergne Clermont-Ferrand 1 on March 16, 1976. The university has a status of EPSCSP, which is the highest French accreditation. This leads to high emphasis over the professional and research areas of the university. A comprehensive institution, it offers more than 60 national degrees in Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Law and Forensics, Economics and Politics, Management and Administration, and Technology. The university was constantly ranked as a leading academic institution by various French academicians and newspapers, most notably Le Figaro.

Clermont Auvergne University (French: Université Clermont Auvergne) is a public research university with its main campus in Clermont-Ferrand, France. It was created with the merger of Blaise Pascal University and the University of Auvergne on 1 January 2017. Clermont Auvergne University comprises 22 components, divided into Training and Research Units (UFR, formerly faculties), Schools and Institutes (IUT).

Jaude Centre is one of the most prominent shopping malls in Clermont-Ferrand, France. It is located in extreme south-East in the Jaude Square, in the city centre.

2008 World Masters Athletics Indoor Championships is the third in a series of World Masters Athletics Indoor Championships (also called World Masters Athletics Championships Indoor, or WMACi). This third edition took place in Clermont-Ferrand, France, from 17 to 22 March 2008. The main venue was Jean-Pellez Stadium, which has a banked indoor track where the turns are raised to neutralize the centrifugal force of athletes running the curves. Supplemental venues included Clermont-Ferrand Sports Hall for opening ceremonies, Les Gravanches for Half Marathon and 10K Race Walk, and Stade Marcel-Michelin for Cross Country. This Championships was organized by World Masters Athletics (WMA) in coordination with a Local Organising Committee (LOC): Annie Laurent, Jean Gracia. The WMA is the global governing body of the sport of athletics for athletes 35 years of age or older, setting rules for masters athletics competition. A full range of indoor track and field events were held. In addition to indoor competition, non-stadia events included Half Marathon, 8K Cross Country, 10K Race Walk, Weight Throw, Hammer Throw, Discus Throw and Javelin Throw.

Jaude Square (French: Place de Jaude) is a major city square and meeting place in the centre of Clermont-Ferrand, France. It is bordered by Rue Blatin on the North and Avenue Julien on the south. The square is home to many attractions, such as the Opera Theatre, the Jaude Shopping Mall and Saint-Pierre-des-Minimes Church.Jaude Square was founded in the Roman times but was abandoned in the Middle Ages. Overlooking the square is a massive statue of the ancient Gallic leader Vercingetorix. Erected in 1903, it was created by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, who also made the Statue of Liberty.The modern square was inaugurated on 17 June 2006, with over 30,000 people coming to attend the opening ceremony.

The Hôtel Cote-Blatin is a historic hôtel particulier in Clermont-Ferrand, France. It was built in 1897 for Joseph Cote, a physician. It was designed by architect Émile Camut. It has been listed as an official historic monument since 2010.
