Bailieborough

Bailieborough Community School, alternatively spelled as Bailieboro, and commonly referred to as BCS, is a community school located in the town of Bailieborough, County Cavan, Ireland. The school was an amalgamation of two previous schools in the town; Bailieborough Vocation School, colloquially called The Tech; and Lourdesville Secondary School, colloquially referred to as 'The Convent'. The school was built on the site of the existing Lourdesville School, and was opened on the 8 November 1982 by the then Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, John Wilson. The school has 36 teaching classrooms, a physical education gym, a gaelic football pitch and two car parks. As of 2019, there were over 630 students enrolled in BCS.

Bailieboro Shamrocks Gaelic Athletic Association (also spelled Bailieborough) is a Gaelic football, camogie and ladies' Gaelic football club based in Bailieborough, County Cavan in Ireland.

Bailieborough Castle was located in Bailieborough, County Cavan, Ireland. It was built in an enclosed demesne by 1629. Also known as Castle House, Lisgar House, or simply 'The Castle', the country house was located just to the south-west of Castle Lough in what is now known as Bailieborough Demesne, on the north-western edge of the town. It was largely destroyed by fire in the early 20th century and is now totally demolished. There is a 3-kilometre (1.9 mi) walking trail around part of the former castle's property.

Finternagh is a townland in County Cavan, Ireland. The townland covers 295 acres (1.19 km2). Finternagh is one of a number townlands of the Irish civil parish of Killinkere in the barony of Castlerahan, County Cavan, Province of Ulster. In the 1911 census of Ireland, the townland had seventeen houses with 100 inhabitants (45 males and 55 females).

Old Moybologue Cemetery is a circular enclosure in County Cavan, Ireland. The site dates from the Early Christian Period and features the ruins of a mediaeval church and a graveyard.

Knockbride (Irish: Cnoca Bríde, meaning 'hill of Bríd') is a civil parish in County Cavan, Ireland. It is located to the north of the town of Bailieborough. There are two Roman Catholic churches in the parish – both are dedicated to Saint Brigid (Bríd) and located in the Diocese of Kilmore. The local Church of Ireland church was built in 1825. There is also a Presbyterian church, built in 1791, in Corraneary townland. The village of Canningstown is within Knockbride civil parish, and the local Gaelic Athletic Association club is based at St. Brigid's Park outside the village. There are 67 townlands in Knockbride civil parish, varying in size from c. 0.12 to 0.22 square miles (Druminnick and Fartagh townlands) to 1.09 square miles in area (Skeagh townland).

Canningstown (Irish: Baile Chainín) is a village in northeastern County Cavan, Ireland. It is located in the civil parish of Knockbride on the R191 regional road, 12 kilometres (7 mi) south of Cootehill and 10 km (6 mi) north of Bailieborough.

Kilian, also spelled Cillian or Killian (or alternatively Irish: Cillín; Latin: Kilianus), was an Irish missionary bishop and the Apostle of Franconia (now the northern part of Bavaria), where he began his labours in the latter half of the 7th century. His feast day is 8 July.

Shercock ( SHUR-kok); Irish: Searcóg) is a small town and civil parish in the east of County Cavan, Ireland. As of the 2016 census, the population of the town was 588. Shercock is 12 km west of Carrickmacross, at the intersection of the R162 and R178 regional roads. It sits on the shores of three lakes: Lough Sillan, Steepleton's Lake, and Muddy Lake. Lough Sillan is the largest of the three, covering approximately 162 hectares.
