Patuxent Institution

Waterloo is an unincorporated community located in Howard County in the U.S. state of Maryland. Located at the intersection of Waterloo Road and Washington Boulevard, the neighborhood is encompassed mostly by Jessup and partially by Elkridge.

Spurrier's Tavern was a well-known tavern and horse-changing depot which stood by the main road between Baltimore and Washington, D.C. (now U.S. Route 1) from 1771 to 1835 near what is now Jessup, Maryland. George Washington visited the tavern several times during his presidency. After an 1835 fire, the building was repaired for residence by the family of its owner, who died there in 1852. It was demolished sometime thereafter.

Jessup station is a passenger rail station on the MARC Camden Line located in Jessup, Maryland. It is located off Old Jessup Road, east of the Jessup Road bridge over the Camden Line. The station has two side platforms which are not accessible.

Oak Hill is a historic manor located at Jessup, Maryland, United States. Oak Hill is a historic manor on a 235-acre farm between the Dorsey's Branch of the little Patuxent and the Old Annapolis road. The site is now dominated by the I-95 and Route 175 interchange, and the Port Capitol drive housing development, known as "Port Capital Village".The manor houses were built and maintained by the Orson Adams (1835–1907) family. Adams was the president of the Commercial National Bank of New York, using Oak Hill as a summer home. A Victorian manor house and an English Manor house were built onsite and noted in 1876 Hopkins maps. For a period they operated as antique stores before being purchased by the Rouse Company for land development. Within ten years of ownership by Rouse, both historic structures were omitted from the historic register, and burned down. Oak Hill was one of many historical buildings in the region with valuable real estate that was developed after a fire set to the structure, including Ammendale Normal Institute (1998), Troy Hill (1990), Duvall Farm, Avondale Mill (1991), St. Mary's College (1997), and Henryton State Hospital (2007, 2011).The Oak Hill youth detention complex in neighboring Anne Arundel County was named after the historic location.

Jessup ( JESS-əp) is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Howard and Anne Arundel counties, about 15 miles (24 km) southwest of Baltimore, Maryland, United States. Per the 2020 census, the population was 10,535.

Trinity Church is a historic Episcopal church located at Elkridge, Howard County, Maryland. The post road site was also known as Waterloo, Pierceland, Jessop and Jessup throughout the years. It was built starting on July 30, 1856, through 1857 as a chapel-of-ease in Queen Caroline Parish, the mother church of which was, and still is, Christ Church Guilford, near Columbia, Maryland. The church land was donated from William G. Ridgley and Dr. Lennox Birckhead, a Catonsville doctor who served in the Battle of Fort McHenry. The land was once part of Charles Carroll of Carrollton's land that comprised Spurrier's Tavern. Theodore Tubman and Myers Pearce (of Pierceland) deeded the cemetery to the north of the church as "Chapel hill". The first rector of Trinity Chapel, Alexander X. Berger served in 1857. Columbia's Berger road development is named after him. Berger resigned in 1861 at the outbreak of the civil war. In 1866, Trinity Chapel broke away from Christ Church Guilford, becoming Trinity Church.The church structure is a rectangular frame church of three bays with shingled walls and on the east end, a semi-octagonal apse of stone. Major additions to the original structure took place ca. 1890.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

Jessup Correctional Institution (JCI) is a maximum security prison operated by the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services in Jessup, Maryland. It was formerly called the Maryland House of Correction-Annex.

The Maryland House of Correction, nicknamed "The Cut" or "The House", was a Maryland Department of Corrections state maximum security prison in an unincorporated area in Maryland. The prison opened in 1879 and became infamous for the high levels of violence that took place inside its walls. The state, under Governor Martin O'Malley, closed the prison in March 2007.The prison was situated on 800 acres (3.2 km2) south of Maryland Route 175 between U.S. 1 and the Baltimore–Washington Parkway. Most of its territory was in Anne Arundel County, while portions were in Howard County.

Worthington's Quarters, White Hall, Glen Burnie, Iris Hill, is a historic forced-labor farm in Columbia in Howard County, Maryland, United States. The stucco-covered brick plantation house resides on a 150-acre tract, "Wincopin Neck", surveyed for Richard and Benjamin Warfield. The land tract "Worthington's Addition" was also considered part of the estate when started as early as 1710. Richard Warfiled II (??-1755) hired out the property (called "Warfield's Contrivance") and house to Alexander Warfield and Elizabeth Ridgely in 1755, who had opened and operated a mill in 1750, downstream from the site at Guilford, Maryland. Rezin and Honor (Howard) Warfield lived onsite next. Their daughter Anne Warfield and Revolutionary War Major Richard Lawrance settled there next, calling the manor "White Hall". Dr. Charles Griffith Worthington purchased the lands and manor, passing it to his son Brice Worthington, and later his nephew Dr. William Henry Worthington (1812-1886). By 1858, five generations of the family were buried in the onsite family graveyard.The site is located along the Middle Patuxent River, which once stood two bridges leading to Laurel. In 1936, the vacant estate was known as the Hegemen House.

The Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center (CTPHC) is a 250-bed psychiatric hospital in Jessup, Maryland.

Brockbridge Correctional Facility was a minimum security prison operated by the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services in Jessup, Maryland. The facility closed in 2019.
