The Oneida Community Mansion House is a historic house and museum that was once the home of the Oneida Community, a religiously-based socialist Utopian group led by John Humphrey Noyes. Noyes and his followers moved to the site in Oneida from Putney, Vermont in 1848. The Community lived in the Mansion House communally until 1880, when they dissolved into a joint-stock company. The Mansion House has been continually occupied as a residence since its construction in 1862. In the 20th century the Mansion House became a National Historic Landmark. It is currently overseen by a non-profit organization chartered in 1987 by New York State Board of Regents. It also includes residential apartments as well as guest rooms for overnight lodging.

The Oneida Community was a perfectionist religious communal society founded by John Humphrey Noyes and his followers in 1848 near Oneida, New York. The community believed that Jesus had already returned in AD 70, making it possible for them to bring about Jesus's millennial kingdom themselves, and be perfect and free of sin in this world, not just in Heaven (a belief called perfectionism). The Oneida Community practiced communalism (in the sense of communal property and possessions), group marriage, male sexual continence, Oneida stirpiculture (a form of eugenics), and mutual criticism. The community's original 87 members grew to 172 by February 1850, 208 by 1852, and 306 by 1878. There were smaller Noyesian communities in Wallingford, Connecticut; Newark, New Jersey; Putney and Cambridge, Vermont. The branches were closed in 1854 except for the Wallingford branch, which operated until the 1878 tornado devastated it.The Oneida Community dissolved in 1881, converting itself to a joint-stock company. This eventually became the silverware company Oneida Limited, one of the largest in the world.

The Village of Oneida Castle is in the northwestern corner of the Town of Vernon. Oneida Castle is east of the City of Oneida (located in Madison County) and west of the City of Sherrill in New York State.

Mount Hope Reservoir is a historic reservoir located in Oneida in Madison County, New York. It includes three contributing sites and four contributing buildings. It was developed between 1883 and 1906 and served as the original source of water for drinking, fire protection, and industrial needs for Oneida. It was all but abandoned by the city in 1979.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.The 65-acre (0.26 km2) reservoir property is now a city park, and features hiking trails, fishing, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, and camping.

Main–Broad–Grove Streets Historic District is a national historic district located at Oneida in Madison County, New York. The district contains 194 contributing buildings, including Cottage Lawn and the Farnam Mansion. It is predominantly residential in character but includes two schools, five churches, and one park. It has a collection of residential types and styles from the 1830s to 1930s.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Cottage Lawn is a historic home located at Oneida in Madison County, New York. It is a Gothic Revival style cottage designed by Alexander Jackson Davis and built in 1849. It is a two-story L-shaped house, with basement and attic. It is constructed of brick and coated in stucco. It features six quatrefoil columns that support Tudor arches spanning the verandah.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.The Madison County Historical Society operates the house as the Cottage Lawn Museum, featuring Victorian period rooms and local history displays.

The city, like both Oneida County and the nearby silver and china maker, was named for the Oneida tribe, which had a large territory here around Oneida Lake during the colonial period.

The Farnam Mansion is a 19th-century mansion in Oneida, New York, United States. Built circa 1862, it is situated on the southwest corner of Main and Stone Streets within the city's Main-Broad-Grove Streets Historic District, which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Oneida Armory is a historic National Guard armory building located in Oneida in Madison County, New York. It is a structural steel frame with brick curtain walls, built in 1930. It was designed by state architect William Haugaard. It consists of a two-story administration building with an attached 2+1⁄2-story drill shed. The administrative building features Tudor-inspired features such as a stone water table and a brick parapet with a stone cornice and stone coping encircling the building.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.

US Post Office-Oneida is a historic post office building located at Oneida in Madison County, New York, United States. It was designed and built in 1931, and is one of a number of post offices in New York State designed by the Office of the Supervising Architect of the Treasury Department, James A. Wetmore. It is a one-story, seven bay wide building in the Colonial Revival style. The five central bays are faced with limestone and limestone trim appears throughout the design.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
