Sojourner–Douglass College

Eastern Female High School, also known as Public School No. 116, is a historic female high school located on the southeast corner of the 200 block of North Aisquith Street and Orleans Street, in the old Jonestown / Old Town neighborhoods, east of Downtown Baltimore and now adjacent to the recently redeveloped Pleasant View Gardens housing project / neighborhood of Baltimore, Maryland, United States. It was built in 1869-1870 and is typical of the Italian Villa mode of late 19th-century architecture. It was dedicated in a large ceremony with speeches later published in a printed phamplet and attending crowds in early 1870. Old Eastern High is a two-story brick structure that features a square plan, three corner towers (northwest, southwest, southeast), and elaborate bracketing cornices, with a similar wood decorated porch/portico over front entrance on its west side facing Aisquith Street. Eastern Female High School was founded (along with its twin sister secondary school Western High School) in 1844 and was one of the pioneer high schools in the country devoted to secondary education for women. It was designed by Baltimore architect Colonel R. Snowden Andrews (1830-1903), also a former officer in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War. In 1907, the girls high school moved to larger, better equipped quarters further northeast in the city at the southeast corner of Broadway and East North Avenue (the former Samuel Gompers Vocational High School building, 1938–1953), where it remained for another three decades until 1938, when it moved to East 33rd Street and Loch Raven Boulevard (Eastern High School (Baltimore)), until it closed in the late 1980s. Then the old girls school building on Aisquith and Orleans was used as an elementary school through the early 1970s. Later in the 1970s the building was converted into apartments.The city transferred the building to Sojourner-Douglass College in 2003 after the institution paid $150,000. The college, which also operated in several other former buildings of the Baltimore City Public Schools, ceased operation in 2015. In August 2016 the City of Baltimore listed the building on a foreclosure auction and sold it in 2017. It was to be developed into an entertainment and arts center, but the building remains vacant as of 2019.Eastern Female High School was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.

Old Town Friends' Meetinghouse, also known as Aisquith Street Meeting or Baltimore Meeting, is a historic Quaker meeting house located at Baltimore, Maryland, United States. It is a two-story brick building which has undergone several alterations over the years. It is the oldest religious building in the city, having been built in 1781 by contractor George Mathews.Old Town Friends' Meetinghouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

The Russian Night School of Baltimore was a night school that served the educational needs of Russian and Eastern European Jewish immigrants living in Baltimore. Located at 1208 East Baltimore Street, the school was founded by the Zionist activist Henrietta Szold. The school was open for a decade, closing in 1898 after the City of Baltimore agreed to open public night schools for immigrants. 5,000 students were educated at the Russian Night School. The school left a lasting impression on American education, being an early example of an educational institution offering English as a Second Language (ESL) classes.

McKim's School, also known as McKim's Free School, is a historic school located at Baltimore, Maryland, United States. It is an archaeologically accurate Greek-style building. The front façade is designed after the Temple of Hephaestus, or Temple of Theseus, in Athens, Greece in granite. Six freestone Doric columns, 17 feet (5 meters) tall, support the entablature and pediment. The sides were derived from the north wing of the Propylaia on the Acropolis of Athens. The building site was funded by Quaker merchant Jon McKim who funded a trust for poor students managed by his son Isaac after his death in 1819. It was designed by Baltimore architects William Howard and William Small and erected in 1833. It served as a school and youth training center until 1945, when the building was adapted for use as the McKim Community Center. In 1972 the building was sold by trustees to the city.McKim's School was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.It is included in the Baltimore Heritage Walk.

National Academy Foundation School is a public secondary school located in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. It is based on the National Academy Foundation educational design to have "small learning communities." The school was launched in 2002 and was housed in the Port Discovery building in Downtown Baltimore. In 2004 it was moved to the first floor of Digital Harbor High School. In 2009 it moved to Dunbar Middle School to form a campus with Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. The National Academy Foundation has five different academies that students may choose to pursue, starting in their 10th grade year: Academy of Finance, Academy of Hospitality and Tourism, Academy of Information Technology, Academy of Engineering and Academy of Law. At graduation student receive a Maryland state diploma with a certification of the academy they chose. In 2010 National Academy Foundation adopted a middle school, National Academy Foundation prep; which is housed in the former Thomas J. Hayes school building.

Hendler Creamery is a historic industrial complex in Jonestown, Baltimore, Maryland. Since it spans an entire block it has addresses at 1100 E. Baltimore St. and 1107 E. Fayette St. "The Hendler Creamery is historically significant for its contribution to the broad patterns of history in three areas of significance: transportation, performing arts, and industry."

The Lloyd Street Synagogue is an 1845 Greek Revival style synagogue building in Baltimore, Maryland. One of the oldest synagogues in the United States, Lloyd Street was the first synagogue building erected in Maryland and is the third oldest synagogue building still standing in the United States. Lloyd Street is now owned by the Jewish Museum of Maryland and is open to the public as a museum in the Inner Harbor area of Baltimore. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Belair Lot is a former baseball ground located in Baltimore, Maryland. The ground was home to the Baltimore Unions of the Union Association in 1884, with the exception of one game at the Madison Avenue Grounds. The ballpark was also called Union Park or Union Association Grounds (not to be confused with the later and better known Union Park). On July 4, 1884, Baltimore played a split double header against the Cincinnati Outlaw Reds and the run-away league leaders, the St. Louis Maroons, which saw a sellout crowd in attendance. The field also hosted a home game (a makeup of an earlier postponement) for the traveling Chicago Browns on September 17, who played against the Maroons while in the midst of a road series against Baltimore. Sources conflict as to some of the details of the ballpark's location. Both agree that it was across Forrest Street from the Belair Market, and that another of its boundaries was Low Street. According to The Home Team, by James H. Bready, the ballpark was on a block bounded by Forrest Street (northeast); Low Street (southeast); Orleans Street (south); and Gay Street (northwest). However, all contemporary maps show Orleans stopping at Forrest rather than continuing westward.A contemporary detailed map which includes the layout of the field has it this way: Forrest Street (northeast, first base); Low Street (northwest, right field); Orleans Street's end at that time (east, infield area); East Street (southwest, left field); buildings and Douglas Street (roughly corresponding to Lexington Street) (southeast, third base).Either way, the road configuration in this area has changed over time, but the boundaries of the blocks are still discernible in modern maps. No photograph of the park itself is known to exist. The park site is now occupied by commercial buildings and vacant lots. The site of the old Belair Market is now a large grassy median separating traffic lanes on Forrest Street.

Chizuk Amuno Synagogue (Hebrew: ק"ק חזוק אמונה), is a historic building on the National Register of Historic Places in Baltimore, Maryland. It was once used by the Chizuk Amuno Congregation. It is part of the Jewish Museum of Maryland and is currently used by the B'nai Israel Congregation.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

B'nai Israel is a Modern Orthodox synagogue located in the historic Jonestown neighborhood, near downtown and the Inner Harbor of Baltimore. The synagogue is one of the oldest synagogue buildings still standing in the United States.
