Kells Castle or Kells Motte is a motte-and-bailey and National Monument in Kells, County Kilkenny, Ireland.

Kells Priory (Irish: Prióireacht Cheanannais) is one of the largest medieval monuments in Ireland. The Augustine priory is situated alongside King's River beside the village of Kells in the townland of Rathduff (Madden), about 15 km south of the medieval city of Kilkenny. The priory is a National Monument and is in the guardianship of the Office of Public Works. One of its most notable features is a collection of medieval tower houses spaced at intervals along and within walls which enclose a site of just over 3 acres (12,000 m2). These give the priory the appearance more of a fortress than of a place of worship and from them comes its local name of "Seven Castles". 4 km southeast of the priory on the R697 regional road is Kilree round tower and 9th century High Cross, said to be the burial place of Niall Caille. It was used in the film Barry Lyndon as the location for the English Redcoat encampment.Kells Priory was founded by Geoffrey FitzRobert most probably in 1193. FitzRobert was brother-in-law to Strongbow and the priory succeeded an earlier church that was dedicated to St. Mary, the Blessed Virgin and served as the parish church to nearby Kells village. During its first century and a half, the priory was attacked and burned on three occasions, first by Lord William de Bermingham in 1252, by the Scots army of Edward Bruce on Palm Sunday 1326, and by a second William de Bermingham in 1327. In 1324 the Bishop of Ossory, Richard de Ledrede, paid a lenten visit to the priory. Following an inquisition into a Kilkenny sect of heretics, Alice Kyteler and William Outlawe were ordered to appear before the Bishop to answer charges of witchcraft. Outlawe was supported by Arnold de Paor, Lord of Kells who arrested the Bishop and had him imprisoned in Kilkenny Castle for 17 days. This caused great scandal and on his release, the Bishop successfully prosecuted the heretics. Alice Kyteler fled to England and remained there, Alice Smith also fled, but her maidservant Petronilla de Meath became Ireland's first heretic to be burned at the stake.Dissolution of Kells Priory finally took place in March 1540 and the church and property were surrendered to James Butler, 9th Earl of Ormonde.

Danesfort (Irish: Dún Feart, meaning 'fort of the grave mound') is a small rural area in County Kilkenny, Ireland, located approximately 6 km from Kilkenny City on the N10 (Waterford to Kilkenny). It is also the name of a civil parish in County Kilkenny. The local area consists of one primary school, a local GAA pitch, a Roman Catholic Church (including graveyard). A creche, a community centre and a care home for the elderly. The townland is divided almost equally either side of the road. Danesfort's flag is the same colour (black and amber) as that of its county, Kilkenny.

Ballyda (Irish: Baile Dháith) is a small townland in the civil parish of Danesfort in County Kilkenny, Ireland. The townland has an area of approximately 0.5 square miles (1.3 km2), and had a population of 70 people as of the 2011 census.

Dunnamaggin is a Gaelic Athletic Association club situated in the south of County Kilkenny, Ireland. The club was founded in 1897, but had to wait ninety-four years for its first senior county title, taking home the junior trophy in 1994. Despite being based in one of the smallest parishes in the county, many Dunnamaggin hurlers have gone on to play with the Kilkenny intercounty team. The club also won the senior title in 1997.

Burnchurch Castle, a National Monument, is a well-preserved 15th century Norman tower house with a round gate tower, situated in the parish of Burnchurch, County Kilkenny, Ireland. Burnchurch Castle and tower, along with the Church of Ireland church, and the lime trees became a National Monument in 1993.It is said to have been built and owned by the Fitzgeralds of the house of Desmond in 15th century and continued to be occupied until 1817. It is 6.5 km (4.0 mi) south west of Kilkenny, off the Clonmel Road, 6 km from Ballybur near Cuffesgrange, outside the town of Callan, nearby to Kells Priory. It is located in Burnchurch parish and was in the barony of Shillelogher.

Dunnamaggin (officially Dunnamaggan; Irish: Dún Iomagáin, meaning 'Fort of Iomagán') is a small village in the south County Kilkenny, Ireland, on the R699 road between Callan and Knocktopher, east of its intersection with the R697 between Kells and Kilmoganny. Dunnamaggan gives its name to a civil parish, an electoral division, and the townlands of Dunnamaggan East and West.Dunnamaggin has a national school and a credit union. It gives its name to the Catholic parish, which also includes the villages of Kilmoganny and Kells. Dunnamaggin GAA club, based on the Catholic parish, has its ground in Dunnamaggin.

Burnchurch (Irish: An Teampall Loiscthe) is a civil parish in Shillelogher, County Kilkenny, Ireland. It has an area of 3,383 acres (1,369 ha).

Stoneyford, officially Stonyford (Irish: Áth Stúin) is a small town in County Kilkenny, Ireland. It lies on the N9 Waterford road some 14 km south of Kilkenny City. Stoneyford is a part of the parish of Aghaviller in the Diocese of Ossory. Two small streams run through the village, one to the west and the second to the north of the village. Both streams join the north of the village and continue northwards as a tributary to the King's River, which is less than 500 metres North of the village. It merges with the River Nore to the east of Stoneyford. The King's River contains salmon and is used regularly for fishing.

Saint Peter's Church, Ennisnag (Middle English: Inisnag and Irish: Inis Snaig meaning "the Island or Islet of the Crane or Heron") is a church of the United Dioceses of Cashel and Ossory and the ecclesiastical province of the United Provinces of Dublin and Cashel in the (Anglican) Church of Ireland. The church lies beside the Kings River, one mile north of Stoneyford village in County Kilkenny, Ireland. Located in the townland of Ennisnag, in the barony of Shillelogher.The 19th century church was constructed on an old medieval monastery and church no longer extant. Probably the most distinguished rector and resident of Ennisnag was the famous Irish antiquarian, James Graves, who died in 1886. In the graveyard, Catholic burials to the rear and the Church of Ireland burials to the front. Among those buried there is Hubert Butler, the Anglo-Irish essayist.

County Kilkenny (Irish: Contae Chill Chainnigh) is a county in Ireland. It is in the province of Leinster and is part of the South-East Region. It is named after the city of Kilkenny. Kilkenny County Council is the local authority for the county. As of the 2016 census the population of the county was 99,232. The county was based on the historic Gaelic kingdom of Ossory (Osraighe), which was coterminous with the Diocese of Ossory.

Danesfort is a County Kilkenny based Gaelic Athletic Association club that competes in the Kilkenny Senior Championship. The club's grounds are located about 4 miles south of Kilkenny city on the Waterford Road. The club was founded in 1922 and incorporates a broad area south of Kilkenny city, encompassing Danesfort itself as well as Burnchurch, Cuffesgrange and part of Kells. The club borders rival clubs Bennetsbridge to the east, Graigue-Ballycallan to the west, Carrickshock and Dunnamaggin to the south and city club James Stephens to the north. Current Chairman of the Club is Finbarr Kelly. Other important Club delegates include Secretary Michael J Moylan, Treasurer Helen Devane and PRO Ursula Mahony.
