The British High Commission in Ottawa, Ontario, is the main diplomatic mission of the United Kingdom in Canada. It is located at 80 Elgin Street in downtown Ottawa, across the street from the National Arts Centre and not far from Parliament Hill.

The High Commission of Barbados in Ottawa (French: Haut-commissariat de la Barbade à Ottawa) is the primary diplomatic mission of Barbados in Canada. Among the initial diplomatic missions to be established by Barbados after the attainment of independence from Britain, the office is located in Downtown Ottawa, Ontario at 55 Metcalfe Street in Suite 470. The High Commission is located three blocks from Parliament Hill, seat of the national legislature of Canada, on the corner Metcalfe and Queen Streets. The High Commission to Ottawa is further supported by a Consul General in the city of Toronto. The official residence of the Barbadian High Commissioner to Ottawa is located on the edge of Rockcliffe Park at #368 Lisgar Road.The Barbadian High Commission presently ranks 14th on Canadian Government's "Ambassadors by Order of Precedence" list.Initially the Office of the Barbados High Commission was established in June 1967 at: 151 Slater Street, Suite 200. It remained for a number of years before relocating.

Central Chambers is a building at the corner of Elgin Street and Queen Street in Ottawa that is a National Historic Site. It is located at 42 to 54 Elgin Street, next to Bell Block. It faces the Canadian War Memorial at Confederation Square. Central Chambers was built between 1890 and 1893 and designed by John James Browne of Montreal, an example of Queen Anne Revival commercial architecture. Formerly serving as an office for the Canadian Atlantic Railway, it now houses the National Capital Commission.The building was purchased by the NCC in the 60's, remained vacant throughout much of the 70s and 80s, and in 1992, plans were made for renovations. In 1994 the NCC gutted the interior and the facade became integrated into a new office tower complex. It was designated as a National Historic Site of Canada in 1990 for being a fine example of the Queen Anne Revival style in commercial architecture.

The first city hall for the city of Ottawa, Ontario, was built in 1849 on Elgin Street between Queen and Albert Streets. Originally known as the West Ward Market Building on Elgin Street, the building was one of two markets in Ottawa, then called Bytown. The market did not last, facing competition from the Byward Market in the Lower Town and closed in that same year. The site was then donated to Bytown by town councillor Nicholas Sparks in 1849 for conversion to a town hall. The first meeting of the Ottawa Horticultural Society was held here on March 9, 1854.Inadequate to the needs of the growing community, it was replaced in 1877 by the Second City Hall, built next to this site. Today the site is the National Arts Centre. The wooden building, with a bell tower, had two floors with the first floor as a fire hall/police station and upper floor as town offices.

Bell Block is a building in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is located on 40 Elgin Street between the Central Chambers and Scottish Ontario Chambers. It was built in 1867 to a design by William Hodgson (1827–1904). Designated as a heritage property under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act, it was honoured with an "Award of Excellence" from the City of Ottawa.

The Russell House hotel was the most high-profile hotel in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada for many decades. It was located at the corner of Sparks Street and Elgin Street, where Confederation Square is located today. The original building was built in the 1840s. Additions were made in the 1870s and the original building replaced in 1880. It closed in 1925 and was demolished in 1928.

The Thomas D'Arcy McGee Building, at 90 Sparks Street, is an office building in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is located on the south side of Sparks Street, east of Metcalfe. The building was opened in 1981 with the Royal Bank of Canada as its main occupant and accordingly it was named the Royal Bank Centre. As with many Ottawa office buildings it also became home to a number of federal government offices. In March 2001, the building was purchased by the federal government for 66 million dollars. The next year, it was renamed after Father of Confederation Thomas D'Arcy McGee, who was assassinated in 1868 near the site of the building. It is still RBC's Ottawa headquarters and the bank's logo remains on the structure. On October 31, 2007, the Building was sold to Larco Investments Limited on a leaseback arrangement good for 25 years.The bottom two storeys contain a shopping complex. The site was once occupied by a row of stores including hat maker and retailer R.J. Devlin Limited, which later operated as Morgan's.

The Ottawa International Film Festival (OIFF) was an Ottawa-based, publicly attended film festival that held its first annual competition in 2010. The festival ran annually for three days. The festival screened shorts and feature-length films of any genre and of any country of origin. The 2010 program yielded one full day of Canadian films and another day of international films. Closely linked to local 72-hour film challenges, the Second Ottawa International Film Festival ran from August 17–21, 2011. The 2011 program presented 24 short films and seven feature films, including three world premieres and one each of Canadian and Ottawa premieres. The festival closed with a competition of locally produced music videos and bands. Hollywood producer Aaron Ryder had been linked to the festival and provided a Q + A after screening his films Donnie Darko and Memento in the August program. Ottawa-based film A Violent State by director Adrian Langley was awarded the 2011 Lieutenant's Pump Award for Best Film.The festival was last staged in 2015. In its place, a new International Film Festival of Ottawa (IFFO) was organized by the Canadian Film Institute to launch in 2020.

The Scottish Ontario Chambers is a building in Ottawa at the corner of Sparks Street and Elgin Street that was built in 1883. It was designed by William Hodgson. It is designated as a heritage property under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act.

The National Arts Centre (NAC) (French: Centre national des Arts) is a Canadian centre for the performing arts located in Ottawa, Ontario, along the Rideau Canal. It is operated by the eponymous performing arts organisation National Arts Centre. The National Arts Centre was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 2006.

The Central Post Office is a historic building in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The building was completed in 1939, replacing a Second Empire style office built in 1876. This original office was located in what is today Confederation Square, and was demolished in order to construct the grand public space. The new office was designed by W.E. Noffke, it is located on the western edge of the square at the end of Sparks Street. The new site required the demolition of the Royal Bank of Canada building (built originally for James Hope and Company). The office combines the distinctly Canadian Chateauesque style with Art Deco elements. It is noted for the decorative carved lions arranged around its base. The Central Post Office is currently home to offices for the Privy Council of Canada, with a Canada Post post office on the main floor.
