Wrights Hill Fortress

Zealandia, formerly known as the Karori Wildlife Sanctuary, is a protected natural area in Wellington, New Zealand, the first urban completely fenced ecosanctuary, where the biodiversity of 225 ha (just under a square mile) of forest is being restored. The sanctuary was previously part of the water catchment area for Wellington, between Wrights Hill (bordering Karori) and the Brooklyn wind turbine on Polhill. Most of New Zealand's ecosystems have been severely modified by the introduction of land mammals that were not present during the evolution of its ecosystems, and have had a devastating impact on both native flora and fauna. The sanctuary, surrounded by a pest-exclusion fence, is a good example of an ecological island, which allows the original natural ecosystems to recover by minimising the impact of introduced flora and fauna. The sanctuary has become a significant tourist attraction in Wellington and is responsible for the greatly increased number of sightings of species such as tui and kākā in city's suburbs. Sometimes described as the world's first mainland island sanctuary in an urban environment, the sanctuary has inspired many similar projects throughout New Zealand, with predator-proof fences now protecting the biodiversity of many other areas of forest. Examples include the 7.7-hectare (19-acre) lowland podocarp forest remnant of Riccarton bush/ Putaringamotu, the 98 hectare Bushy Park and, the 3500 hectare Maungatautari Restoration Project enclosing an entire mountain.

Karori is a suburb located at the western edge of the urban area of Wellington, New Zealand, 4 km from the city centre and is one of New Zealand's most populous suburbs, with a population of 15,320 in June 2022.

Karori Lunatic Asylum was a psychiatric hospital in Karori. Established in 1854, it was New Zealand's first asylum. The first patient was admitted in the same year, but it would be 1858 before a second patient arrived. Poorly run by untrained staff, there was only an occasional doctor's visit, and no attempt at cures. By 1871, there were 23 patients with a variety of disorders. The facility closed in 1873 with the patients transferred to Mount View Lunatic Asylum. In 1875, Karori School opened on the grounds of Karori Lunatic Asylum.

Samuel Marsden Collegiate School is a private composite girls school located in the Wellington suburb of Karori in New Zealand. It has a socio-economic decile of 10 - on a scale from 1 to 10, 1 reflecting the lowest socioeconomic communities - and provides year one to 13 education for girls, with a co-educational pre-school. Its exam results rank consistently in the top schools in New Zealand. Samuel Marsden Collegiate School students complete the New Zealand National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA).

Futuna Chapel is a building in Wellington, New Zealand designed by the architect John Scott. Built by the brothers of the Society of Mary, the chapel is named after the Pacific Island of Futuna on which the missionary Peter Chanel, to whom the project is dedicated, was martyred in 1841. It was awarded the New Zealand Institute of Architects gold medal in 1968 and its 25-year Award in 1986. The Historic Places Trust has placed it on its register as a Category 1 Historic Site.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to New Zealand is the official representative of the President and the Government of the Russian Federation to the Prime Minister and the Government of New Zealand. The ambassador and his staff work at large in the Embassy of Russia in Wellington. The post of Russian Ambassador to New Zealand is currently held by Georgy Zuev, incumbent since 4 June 2018. The ambassador of Russia to New Zealand is concurrently accredited to Samoa and Tonga.

Mākara Peak Mountain Bike Park (Māori: Mākara Maunga Pahikara) is a mountain biking and walking park in Wellington, New Zealand.

Alington House is a private house in Karori, Wellington, New Zealand. It is "an important New Zealand example of Modern Movement architecture."The house was designed by William Alington for his family while working for the New Zealand Government's Ministry of Works immediately after returning from his overseas experience.The Alington house was awarded an NZIA Wellington Branch Enduring Architecture award in 2002, and an NZIA (National) Enduring Architecture award in 2007.The building, is classified as a "Category I" ("places of 'special or outstanding historical or cultural heritage significance or value'") historic place by the New Zealand Historic Places Trust.

The Karori Crematorium and its adjacent chapel are located in Karori Cemetery in the Wellington suburb of Karori. The crematorium was the first such facility in New Zealand, and it opened in 1909. The Karori Crematorium and chapel are registered by the New Zealand Historic Places Trust as Category I heritage items, with registration number 1399.The Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) erected a plaque commemorating 15 New Zealand services personnel of World War II who were cremated at the crematorium and their ashes scattered. It is set into the Services Columbarium Wall in the Services section of Karori Cemetery.

Karori Cemetery is New Zealand's second largest cemetery, located in the Wellington suburb of Karori.

Northland is an affluent suburb in west-central Wellington, New Zealand. Not far from Victoria University it also includes low-priced accommodation popular with young students. It borders the suburbs of Highbury, Kelburn, Thorndon, Wilton, Wadestown and Karori. Northland is populated by a mix of university students, young professionals and families. Part of the area was known as Creswick until the late 19th century when new roads and building sites were developed by the landowner, C J Pharazyn, who marketed the whole area as Northland. At that time it was described in The Evening Post (now part of The Dominion Post) as "Wellington's best suburb".

The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Wellington (Indonesian: Kedutaan Besar Republik Indonesia di Wellington) is the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Indonesia to New Zealand, which is also concurrently accredited to the Independent State of Samoa and Kingdom of Tonga. The embassy is located at 70 Glen Road in the Wellington suburb of Kelburn. Diplomatic relations between Indonesia and New Zealand started in 1958, which then it was accredited to Australia. It was not until 1973 that Sutikno Lukitodisastro was appointed as the first Indonesian ambassador to New Zealand. The current ambassador, Fientje Maritje Suebu, was appointed by President Joko Widodo on 12 January 2022.
