Wylie, Texas

Nickelville is a ghost town in Collin County, located in the U.S. state of Texas.

The Wylie Independent School District is a public school district based in the far southern portion (often called Wylie) of Abilene, Texas, United States. In order to avoid confusion with the Wylie Independent School District in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex suburb of Wylie, the district is commonly referred to as Abilene Wylie. In 2009, the school district was rated "recognized" by the Texas Education Agency.

In 2019, the school was rated an average of a 91.3 by the Texas Education Agency.

It is part of the Wylie Independent School District which covers south central Collin County and includes portions of the communities of Sachse, St. Paul and Murphy along with Wylie. Until the 2008 opening of Wylie East High School, Wylie High School was the only high school in Wylie ISD. In 2015, the school was rated "Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency.

Lavon Dam is located in Collin County, Texas on the East Fork of the Trinity River, about 3 miles east of Wylie and 22 miles northeast of Dallas. It was constructed to create the Lavon Lake and is named after the town of Lavon. Dams are generally named after the closest town near the structure.

It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census.The Seis Lagos Community is located in Lucas, Texas, but outside the city municipality, in the extraterritorial jurisdiction. The State designates certain areas as the extraterritorial jurisdiction of municipalities to promote and protect the general health, safety, and welfare of persons residing in and adjacent to the municipalities. It is in the southern part of the county, bordered to the north, west, and south by the city limits of Lucas. It is 29 miles (47 km) northeast of the center of Dallas. As suggested by the name, six lakes have been built into the rolling terrain of the community.

Lavon Lake is a freshwater reservoir located in southeast Collin County, Texas, on the East Fork of the Trinity River near Wylie, off State Highway 78. It is commonly called Lake Lavon for commercial and recreational purposes, but Lavon Lake is its official name according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. It was originally called Lavon Reservoir.
