Russell Lake West, Nova Scotia

The Dartmouth Refinery is a former oil refinery in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, owned by Imperial Oil. It was located on the eastern side of Halifax Harbour, and the crude oil arrived via ship. It covered some 400 hectares (990 acres) south of central Dartmouth, with the neighbourhood around it being known as Imperoyal.

Russell Lake is a small shallow lake in Nova Scotia's Halifax Regional Municipality in the community of Dartmouth. The lake is bounded by the development of Russell Lake West to the west, Woodside to the south, Woodlawn to the north and Portland Estates to the east.

Woodside is an unincorporated middle income urban locality of Dartmouth, within the Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The community is divided into North Woodside and South Woodside. Woodside is home to two hospitals: the Dartmouth General Hospital and the Nova Scotia Hospital.

Imperoyal is a small neighbourhood on the eastern side of Halifax Harbour in the community of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia (part of the Halifax Regional Municipality). The area is mostly taken up by the former Dartmouth Refinery and by petroleum storage and transfer facility owned by Irving Oil Limited. A book on the topic is written by John D. Hartley entitled Imperoyal Village.Most of the houses are owned by workers of the oil refinery or by the Canadian Forces in CFB Halifax and nearby Shearwater. The main road is Pleasant Street which is part of Route 322 which is also part of Marine Drive. The area is also known as South Woodside. Fort Clarence, a part of the "Halifax Defence Complex" was located in the present area of the Imperial Oil Refinery. A small display along Pleasant Street marks the place where the fort was.

Southdale is a neighbourhood located between the neighbourhoods of Woodside and Manor Park in the community of Dartmouth, in the Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary street is Portland Street which forms part of Route 207. A small lake called Maynard Lake is located within the neighbourhood .

Fort Clarence (formerly the Eastern Battery) was a British coastal fort built in 1754 at the beginning of the French and Indian War in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada. The battery was built on the grant of Capt. John Rous. Initially it had 8 guns mounted. In the spring of 1759, a Mi'kmaq attack on the Eastern Battery killed five soldiers.On 17 November 1778 the King's Orange Rangers arrived by sea at Halifax. The reason for the transfer was probably to stem desertions by relocating the men to a place much farther away from their homes. The KOR was assigned to protect the Eastern Battery on the shore of Halifax harbour at the south end of Woodside, where the neighborhood of Imperoyal now exists. Eastern Battery was renamed as Fort Clarence by Prince Edward on 20 October 1798 in honor of his brother, the Duke of Clarence and St. Andrews, later King William IV. In the late 1790s a Martello Tower replaced the blockhouse. The fort was rebuilt with stone in the 1860s.In 1929 Imperial Oil purchased the site, which became part of their Dartmouth Refinery and the remaining parts of the fort were buried in the 1940s. The refinery was converted to an oil storage depot in 2013 and archeologists are calling for the fort to be excavated.

The Dartmouth General Hospital is an acute care hospital in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada. It is a 24-hour emergency, inpatient medical, surgical and critical care facility that has been operating since 1976. It serves approximately 120,000 people in Dartmouth and the eastern Halifax Regional Municipality. It is located on Pleasant Street (Route 322) across from the Nova Scotia Hospital. It is operated by the Nova Scotia Health Authority.

Portland Estates is a suburban neighbourhood in Woodlawn, an area of eastern Dartmouth in the Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. It reaches from Eisener Blvd. in the west, all the way to Portland Hills in the east, and is located to the south of Portland Street (Route 207).

The Nova Scotia Hospital, known locally as The NS or Mount Hope, is a psychiatric hospital in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Operated by the Nova Scotia Health Authority, it is the province's largest and oldest mental health facility. Co-founded by the Hon. Hugh Bell and Dorothea Dix, it opened in 1856 as the Mount Hope Asylum for the Insane and today it is a fully accredited teaching facility affiliated with Dalhousie University. Since its founding in 1852, the Nova Scotia Hospital has a rich and long history. It supported patients during World War I and II, and the Halifax Explosion. It has undergone expansion and constant improvement with the addition of buildings which support adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient care ranging from day programs, outpatient, short-term stay, and long-term stay. The former Nova Scotia Hospital Foundation is now the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia.

Route 322 is a collector road in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. It is located in the Halifax Regional Municipality and connects southeastern Dartmouth at Trunk 7 with Cole Harbour at Route 207. The route follows "Pleasant Street" in the former city of Dartmouth from its western terminus at the intersection with Prince Albert Road (Trunk 7) to the old Dartmouth city limit at Woodside. From Shearwater to Eastern Passage Pleasant Street becomes "Main Road." From that point, it follows "Cow Bay Road", "Dyke Road" and "Bissett Road" to its eastern terminus at the intersection with Route 207 (Cole Harbour Road) in Cole Harbour. It is part of the Marine Drive scenic travelway.

Manor Park is a neighbourhood of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada. The main entrance to the neighbourhood is from the east on Portland Street (Route 207). A secondary entrance, from the west, is by way of Celtic Drive, rising from the low-lying area around Lake Banook. Within this neighbourhood is Brownlow Park, one of Dartmouth's local parks. The park, named after Dan Brownlow, a former Mayor of Dartmouth, includes two tennis courts, a basketball court, a soccer field, a children's playground, and a pathway for joggers. The area also abuts Oathill Lake, which is surrounded by a wooded area with a walking trail. This lake is enjoyed by many including fishermen and swimmers.

Portland Hills is a subdivision in Dartmouth Nova Scotia that is part of the Halifax Regional Municipality. It is located east of Morris Lake and Portland Estates. It formed in 2001-2008 as an extension of the community of Portland Estates along Portland Street (Route 207). The neighbourhood is home to the Portland Hills Centre, which includes Irish themed pub, Finbars. Running through Portland Hills is Birches Park, which includes the Portland Hills Greenway 2.2 kilometre trail.
