Martyrs' Memorial, Algiers

The National Museum of Fine Arts in Algiers (french: Musée national des Beaux-Arts d'Alger) is one of the largest art museums in Africa. Opened to the public since 5 May 1930, it is located in the Hamma district, next to the Hamma test garden. The museum, with its 8,000 works, includes paintings, drawings, engravings and old prints, sculptures, old furniture and decorative art, ceramics, glassware, as well as a numismatic collection. Among the works on display are paintings by Dutch and French masters such as Brugghen, Van Uyttenbroeck, Van Goyen, Monet, Matisse, Delacroix, Honoré Daumier, Renoir, Gauguin and Pissarro. But also emblematic Algerian artists, such as Baya, Yellès and Racim. The museum houses sculptures by Rodin, Bourdelle and Belmondo. On 14 May 1962 over 300 works of art were brought to the Louvre in Paris from the Museum.

Diar el Mahçoul (Arabic: ديار المحصول, lit. 'land of plenty') is a residential complex and district of Algiers, Algeria, split between the quarters of Belouizdad and El Madania. Diar el Mahçoul was developed by French modernist architect and urban planner Fernand Pouillon between 1953 and 1955.The Martyrs' Memorial (Arabic: مقام الشهيد‎,), which houses the National Museum of El Mujahid, stands at the edge of the development. The structure, constructed in 1982, is one of the city's most recognizable buildings.

The Test Garden of Hamma (Arabic: حديقة التجارب الحامة) (French: Jardin d'Essai du Hamma) is a 32-hectare (79-acre) botanical garden (38 hectares (94 acres) of gardens and 20 hectares (49 acres) of arboretum) located in the Mohamed Belouizdad (formerly Hamma-Anassers) district of Algiers. It was established in 1832.

The Ministry of Health, Population and Hospital Reform (MSPRH) is the health ministry of Republic of Algeria. It is located in El Madania, a municipality of Algiers. The Ministry is responsible for public health facilities and population monitoring. The Minister is a member of the Council of Ministers of Algeria, which reports to the President of Algeria as part of the executive branch of the government.

20 August 1955 Stadium (Arabic: ملعب 20 أوت 1955, French: Stade du 20 Août 1955) is a multi-purpose stadium in Mohamed Belouizdad, Algiers, Algeria. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of CR Belouizdad. The stadium holds 15,000 people. It’s in the city.

Mohamed Belouizdad (Arabic: بلوزداد) is a quarter of Algiers, Algeria in Algiers Province. The quarter was formerly known as Belcourt during the French colonisation period. It was renamed as Hamma-El Annasser (Arabic: الحامة-العناصر) after Algerian independence, before the present name Belouizdad was adopted in 1992 in honour of the Algerian militant and nationalist Mohamed Belouizdad who lived in the quarter. Mohamed Belouizdad Street and Hassiba Ben Bouali Street are the two main arteries for the quarter that also has a seashore stretch on the Mediterranean coast. Important places in Belouizdad include the Hamma National Library, the Botanical Garden Hamma (Arabic: حديقة التجارب, lit. 'The Test Garden', pronounced Hadiqat at Tajareb, or Jardin d'essai in French), the Hamoud Boualem soft drinks factory and headquarters, the August 20, 1955 Stadium (in French Stade 20 août 1955) as well as Hotel Sofitel. The quarter also has a famous cave known as Cave Cervantes where the Spanish writer Miguel de Cervantes hid from the Turkish authorities but was recaptured when he famously attempted to flee back to Spain. Belouizdad is served by 4 stations of the Algiers Metro, namely Jardin d'essai Station, Hamma Station in Belouizdad itself and Aïssat Idir Station and 1er Mai Station in the nearby Sidi M'Hamed municipality. The area is also served by two aerial tramway systems, the Téléphérique d'El Madania, inaugurated in 1956, and Téléphérique du Mémorial inaugurated in 1987 linking it to the Botanical Garden and the Martyrs' Memorial in Algiers that oversees the quarter. The intermodal Les Fusillés Station at the eastern border of Belouizdad connects to all points east on the Algiers tramway. The quarter is also home to two sports organisations, CR Belouizdad (Chabab Riadhi Belouizdad or just Belouizdad) and OMR El Annasser (Olympic Mostakbel Ruisseau El Annasser)

Sidi M'Hamed is a district in Algiers Province, Algeria. It was named after its capital, Sidi M'Hamed.

On February 11, 1996, armed fighters for the Armed Islamic Group of Algeria stormed the headquarters of the Le Soir d'Algérie newspaper in Algiers. 29 people, including three journalists, were killed by the terrorists.

The Supreme Court of Algeria is the highest court of appeal in Algeria. It can only review lower court decisions on questions of procedure. When overruled the case will be returned to the lower courts for retrial.The court is located in Algiers, and was created by Law 218/63. Its judicial authority is defined by Law 22/89. Its president is Sulayman Budi, and the attorney general is Ben 'Ubayd al-Wardi.
