The Downtown Hinsdale Historic District is a set of seventy-three buildings and one park in Hinsdale, Illinois.

Hinsdale is a village in Cook and DuPage counties in the U.S. state of Illinois. Hinsdale is a western suburb of Chicago. The population was 17,395 at the 2020 census, most of whom lived in DuPage County. The town's ZIP code is 60521. The town has a rolling, wooded topography, with a downtown, and is a 22-minute express train ride to downtown Chicago on the Burlington Northern line.

The Francis Stuyvesant Peabody House is a historical Queen Anne-style residence in Hinsdale, Illinois most notably owned by Francis S. Peabody of Peabody Coal from 1911 to 1921.

The William and Helen Coffeen House is a historic house located at 306 S. Garfield Street in Hinsdale, Illinois. Built in 1899–1900, the house is an early example of architect George W. Maher's Prairie School work. The house has a stucco exterior, a building material that ultimately became a distinctive element of Maher's work. The decorative wooden frame around the house's entrance and the extensive use of stained glass windows highlight how Maher developed a distinctive personal style of ornamentation in his designs. The house's original owners were real estate agent William Coffeen and his wife Helen, both of whom were active members of Hinsdale's civic and social life.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 22, 2014.

The William Whitney House, also known as the Hallmark House, is a historic Late Victorian & Italianate residence in Hinsdale, Illinois.

Immanuel Hall, previously known as Immanuel Evangelical Church, is a historic Late Gothic Revival church in the Carpenter Gothic style located in Hinsdale, Illinois. It was constructed in 1900 by Lutheran German immigrants for three thousand dollars. Services in the one-story building were conducted in the German language until the 1930s, when the church became affiliated with the Evangelical and Reformed Church and began services in English. The congregation moved to a new building in Burr Ridge, Illinois, in 1964. The former church in Hinsdale was then used as an office for the United Church of Christ. The church grounds were sold in 1982, and the building operated as a Montessori method preschool. In 1999, the building was again sold, and targeted for demolition by the new owners. A deal was brokered between the owners and the Hinsdale Historical Society to preserve the main church building. The remaining building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in early 2001. The building was restored from 2007 to 2008, and is now used for public events.

Highlands station is one of three commuter railroad stations along Metra's BNSF Line in Hinsdale, Illinois. The station is 16.3 miles (26.2 km) from Union Station, the east end of the line. As of 2018, Highlands is the 163rd busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 202 weekday boardings. While Metra give the address as "1/4 mile north of the Intersection of County Line Road & 47th Street," it is actually opposite the corner of County Line Road and Highland Road. Parking is available at the station, as well as across the tracks on the south side of Hillgrove Avenue between Oak Street and County Line Road. The station is a small stone-faced structure used only during rush hour and is near Hinsdale Hospital, and three local parks, Highland Park, Veeck Park, and Pierce Park. There are no connections to buses at this stop.

Hinsdale Central High School, or HCHS (locally referred to as simply "Central") is a public four-year high school located at the corner of W. 55th St. and S. Grant St. in Hinsdale, Illinois, a western suburb of Chicago, Illinois, in the United States. Founded in 1879, the school is well known for its large spending per student, academic excellence, and athletic programs. It is part of Hinsdale Township High School District No. 86, which also includes Hinsdale South High School. The school is 17 miles west of Chicago and serves a suburban residential area of approximately 35,000 people. The Central campus draws its students from all of the village of Hinsdale, majority of Clarendon Hills and Oak Brook, and small parts of Burr Ridge, Darien, Willowbrook and Westmont.The official name of the school is Hinsdale Township High School Central, often abbreviated Hinsdale TWP HS Central. This name is derived from the school's original name: Hinsdale Township High School (HTHS). "Central" was added to the original name when Hinsdale South High School opened in 1965.

The Graue Mill is a water-powered grist mill that was originally erected in 1852. Now a museum, it is one of two operating water-powered gristmills in Illinois (the other is the Franklin Creek Grist Mill). It is located on Salt Creek in Oak Brook, Illinois, owned by the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County and operated by a nonprofit preservationist group.

As of 2018, West Hinsdale is the 143rd busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 306 weekday boardings. There is an unstaffed weather shelter used only during rush hour. The station is immediately adjacent to Stough Park in Hinsdale and is located 0.5 miles from downtown Clarendon Hills, Illinois.
