Toledo (Congress of Deputies constituency)

Toledo is a province of central Spain, in the western part of the autonomous community of Castile–La Mancha. It is bordered by the provinces of Madrid, Cuenca, Ciudad Real, Badajoz, Cáceres, and Ávila. Its capital is the city of Toledo.

Toledo is one of the 59 constituencies (Spanish: circunscripciones) represented in the Senate of Spain, the upper chamber of the Spanish parliament, the Cortes Generales. The constituency elects four senators. Its boundaries correspond to those of the Spanish province of Toledo. The electoral system uses an open list partial block voting, with electors voting for individual candidates instead of parties. Electors can vote for up to three candidates.

Toledo is one of the five constituencies (Spanish: circunscripciones) represented in the Cortes of Castilla–La Mancha, the regional legislature of the autonomous community of Castilla–La Mancha. The constituency currently elects nine deputies. Its boundaries correspond to those of the Spanish province of Toledo. The electoral system uses the D'Hondt method and a closed-list proportional representation, with a minimum threshold of three percent.

The Infantry Academy (ACINF) is a military training center of the Spanish Army located in the city of Toledo. The center is responsible for providing basic training, specialization and training for officers and non-commissioned officers of the infantry branch of the Spanish Army. Lying at the opposite bank of the Tagus than the main urban core, it is connected to the Santa Bárbara residential area through the Cuesta de San Servando.

The Church of San Lucas (Spanish: Iglesia de San Lucas) is located in front of the Bu hill at southeast of the city of Toledo, Castile-La Mancha, Spain. Behind a high wall, attached to the church, was located the old parish cemetery, where it is told that the last Mozarabs of the city were buried. Most probably it was built in Mozarab style in the 12th-century, in the 17th century a Baroque chapel was added to it housing the Virgen de Esperanza. The church is cited in a poem attributed to St. Ildefonsus, according to which it was erected in 641 by Evancio, a son of Nicholas, who married Blesila and who were the grandfathers of St. Ildefonsus. This documentary evidence cannot be confirmed and the building could even be a mosque adapted as a Christian church, due to the irregular arrangement of the south wall and the asymmetry of the immediate nave of the epistle. The church served one of the parishes of Toledo that had the privilege to maintain the Mozarabic Rite after the Reconquista.

The Iglesia de San Miguel el Alto is a building of medieval origin located in Toledo (Castile-La Mancha, Spain). Dedicated to St Michael, the church served one of the old Latin parishes of the city, but is now part of the parish of San Justo. It appears that it also had some relation to the Knights Templar who are believed to have had a guest-house in Toledo. The original 12th century building was extensively remodelled in the 17th century by Juan Bautista Monegro, but retains some Mudejar features, notably its tower from around the end of the 13th century.

St Lawrence's Church (Spanish: Iglesia de San Lorenzo) is a ruined medieval church located in Toledo, Spain. It was built on the site of a mosque. The building as it survives is later, but preserves some mudejar features.

The Convento de San Juan de la Penitencia, also known as the Colegio de Doncellas pobres de San Juan de la Penitencia, is an Isabelline former convent building that was erected in 1514 in Toledo, Spain. The convent was established to rescue women from the street until they marry or to insert them into religious life. The convent was commissioned by Don Francisco Jiménez de Cisneros and built by architect Pedro Gumiel, combining elements of Moorish style with the Renaissance. The altarpiece was made by Alejandro Semini. The convent building suffered a devastating fire in 1936. It later served as a refuge for the homeless after the Spanish Civil War. The building currently houses the Music Conservatory and the Center for International Studies of the Ortega y Gasset Foundation.

The Toledo railway station is a railway station in Toledo, Spain, which was designed by architect Narciso Clavería y de Palacios in the Neo-Mudéjar style.

The Iglesia de San Vicente is a medieval church located in Toledo (Castile-La Mancha, Spain), it appears as a parish already in 1125, although, there is documentation that speaks of its being founded by Alfonso VI shortly after his conquest of the city in 1085. The current building is the result of successive reconstructions, transformations and additions. The oldest element preserved is the mudejar apse. Judging by its structure, the apse does not appear to be earlier than the 13th century. It follows a type very similar to that of another church in Toledo, Cristo de la Vega, in which the exterior stands out, and the straight section, which precedes the apse proper. Another feature consistent with that date is the use of friezes in the corner, separating horizontally the bodies of arches, and the same typology of arches, which repeats the folded half-points and the horseshoe pointed, covered by lobed, appearing in the Cristo de la Vega. The whole was disfigured by adding, on the axis, a large Baroque shield and opening two spans, for illumination of the main chapel and a crypt. In the interior it conserves the double archery that runs the perimeter of the apse, simple blind arches of horseshoe. To the right, taking advantage of the thickness of the wall, has incorporated a small Gothic chapel, with vault of crossery, of beginnings of the 14th century. Once the parish was abolished in 1842, the building now houses the Circle, part of the Toledo Museum of Art.

The Castle of San Servando is a medieval castle in Toledo, Spain, near the Tagus River. It was begun as a monastery, occupied first by monks and later by the Knights Templar. In 1874 the castle was named a national monument. The fortress was depicted in El Greco's painting View of Toledo. Lying at the opposite bank of the Tagus than the main urban core, it is connected to the Santa Bárbara residential area through the Cuesta de San Servando.

The Iglesia de los Santos Justo y Pastor, popularly known as Iglesia de San Justo, is a church located in the city of Toledo (Castile-La Mancha, Spain). It was founded after the city was taken by King Alfonso VI of León and Castile in the 13th century. The city underwent transformations between the 14th and 18th centuries. This is a religious temple under the invocation of the holy children Justus and Pastor.
