Prince's Bay station

Prince's Bay is the name of a neighborhood located on the South Shore of New York City's borough of Staten Island. Prince's Bay is bordered to the north by Huguenot, to the south by the Raritan Bay, and to the west by Pleasant Plains. The neighborhood is represented in the New York State Senate by Andrew Lanza, in the New York State Assembly by Michael Reilly, and in the New York City Council by Joe Borelli. The neighborhood's name is often mispronounced as "Princess Bay" or "Prince Bay." It is believed the town was originally called Princess Bay for reasons unknown. A 1776 map of Staten Island shows it as Princess Bay. The community's United States Post Office officially bears the name "Princes Bay Station" according to the USPS web site and directory. Prince's Bay's ZIP Code is 10309, which it shares with other South Shore neighborhoods including Charleston, Pleasant Plains and Richmond Valley. The western part of Prince's Bay is now commonly recognized as a separate neighborhood, known as Rossville.

5910 Amboy Road is a historic house located at Prince's Bay, Staten Island, New York. It was built about 1840 in the Greek Revival style. It is a frame house, sheathed with clapboard siding with a three bay central section flanked by two "stepped down" flanking wings. It features a central porch with four square paneled columns. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 16, 1982.

Wolfes Pond Park is a large public park located on Staten Island's South Shore. It is bounded on the south by Holton Avenue, on the east by Raritan Bay, on the west by the Staten Island Railway, and on the north by Chisholm Street, Luten Avenue, and Cornelia Avenue, which is also the main entry into the park's public areas. Hylan Boulevard bisects the park, and most visitors only visit the eastern half of the park, where Wolfes Pond (for which the park is named), two playgrounds, and basketball and tennis courts are located, as well as numerous walking and biking paths, open fields, and a small beach on Raritan Bay. The western, inland half consists mostly of ponds and woodlands, and the northwestern corner hugs Tottenville High School. In 1991 and again in 2011 the dam between the beach and the pond broke, draining the pond of freshwater and flooding it with saltwater. In both cases, this killed the freshwater fish and many of the red-eared slider turtles. Repairs to the dam were completed in November, 2019. From 1941 to the 1970s Robert Moses had planned to build the Wolfe's Pond Parkway into the park from Richmond Parkway. Between 1995 and 1998, the park was upgraded, and public areas were expanded. With this came the addition of the second playground on the east side of the park, as well as the sports areas, a new entrance to the beach, and a new monument to the Battle of the Bulge. Every 4th of July, the park holds a fireworks show, with live entertainment and food venues. This popular show draws hundreds of Staten Island residents from the South Shore and elsewhere every year.

Tottenville High School is located at 100 Luten Avenue, in Huguenot, Staten Island, New York. Tottenville H.S. is in Administrative District 31, and is operated by the New York City Department of Education. The school's principal is Gina Battista, who assumed the role in 2020. Tottenville H.S. is within walking distance of the Huguenot station of the Staten Island Railway system.

The Church of St. Joseph of the Parish of St. Joseph-St. Thomas, is a Roman Catholic parish church in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, and the oldest extant Roman Catholic church on Staten Island. The nearby cemetery is the second-oldest Roman Catholic cemetery on the island. The church is located on Poplar Avenue in Rossville, Staten Island, New York City, New York.

The Seguine Mansion, also known as the Seguine-Burke Mansion, is located on Lemon Creek near the southern shore of Staten Island, New York City. The Greek Revival house is one of the few surviving examples of 19th-century life on Staten Island. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a member of the Historic House Trust. James Seguine is believed to have purchased property near Lemon Creek between 1780 and 1786, and his grandson Joseph H. Seguine built the house on the property in 1838. At the time, he added a hay barn, carriage house and stables. Joseph was a prominent businessman in the area, founding several companies including the Staten Island Railroad company. He died in 1856. In 1868, the family was forced to sell the house and land. In 1916, descendants were able to repurchase the house and it remained in the family until 1981.In 1981 the house was in serious need of repair, and was sold to George Burke, who had previously restored other historic buildings in the community. Burke not only saved the building but also ensured that the property would not be subdivided. The renovation of the outside of the house took more than five years and sixty gallons of paint. Burke filled the house with his elaborate collection of art and furnishings, many acquired during his years in England after World War II, while he was in the Air Force. After restoring the house and establishing an equestrian center at the site, Burke donated the Seguine Mansion to the City of New York in 1989, and retains a life interest in the site. The New York City Parks Department owns the house. Tours are scheduled by Friends of the Seguine Mansion, by appointment only. The Friends of Seguine Mansion is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization formed for the purpose to own, operate, manage, and do everything normally associated with conducting the business of fund-raising for the care and maintenance of the Seguine Mansion residence and grounds, together with the power to solicit grants and contributions for the corporate purposes.

The Abraham Manee House, also known as the Manee-Seguine Homestead, is a three-part Colonial Dutch dwelling on Staten Island in New York. It was designated a New York City landmark in 1984. Located on Purdy Place adjacent to Lemon Creek, on the South Shore of Staten Island, the oldest section is a one-room structure built by Paulus Regrenier in 1670, a French Huguenot fleeing religious persecution in Europe. The building is similar to the Billiou-Stillwell-Perine House in Old Town. An addition made of rubble-stone and tabby was added by another early French Huguenot settler, Abraham Manee, in the late 18th century. The Seguine family purchased the homestead in the 1780s and built a wooden addition in the early part of the 19th century. It was a tavern and inn named Purdy's Hotel in the late 19th century. Of architectural noteworthiness are the spring eaves that are evident of Flemish design on the north side of the house. It is purported to be one of the oldest Dutch structures on Staten Island and was threatened with demolition.. In January 2017, a judge ordered the owners to repair the structure or pay an $8.5 million fine. The judge supported the city's request for an injunction to stop the owners from "continuing their policy of 'demolition by neglect'."

Huguenot is a neighborhood on the South Shore of Staten Island, New York City. Originally named "Bloomingview", it was later named for the Huguenots, led by Daniel Perrin, who settled in the area during the late 17th and early 18th centuries to escape religious persecution. Huguenot is bordered by Arden Heights to the north, Woodrow to the west, Prince's Bay to the south, and Annadale to the east. The neighborhood is represented in the New York City Council by Joe Borelli, who was born and raised there. Huguenot is represented in the New York State Senate by Andrew Lanza and in the New York State Assembly by Michael Reilly.

Elias Bernstein Intermediate School 7, also known as I.S.7 and nicknamed "Bernstein", is a middle school located in the Huguenot section of Staten Island, New York. The school serves grades 6–8, and has been operating since 1965. It was named for Elias Bernstein (1890–1950), a prominent Staten Island attorney and civic leader.
