Licensed to Ames, Iowa, the station serves the Des Moines metropolitan area. The station is owned by Saga Communications, and operates as part of its Des Moines Radio Group. The station's studios are located on Locust Street in Des Moines, while its transmitter is located near Woodward.

Preston Creek is a stream in the U.S. state of Iowa. It is a tributary to the Des Moines River. A variant name was "Preston Branch". Preston Creek was named after Victor Preston, a pioneer who settled near the creek in the 1850s.

Xenia ( ZEE-nee-ə) is an unincorporated community in Dallas County, Iowa, United States. Xenia is 1.5 miles (2.4 km) east of Woodward. In 1879, Xenia contained a post office, a blacksmith shop, and a schoolhouse.

High Trestle Trail is a rail trail running from Ankeny to Woodward in central Iowa. The recreation trail opened on April 30, 2011. It is a paved recreational trail that runs through the Polk, Story, Boone, and Dallas counties. The trail's name is derived from a former 1913 bridge that spanned the Des Moines River between the towns of Madrid and Woodward. Conservation board directors and the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation estimate that more than 3,000 people use this trail each week. The trail is a major component of a planned pair of 100-mile (160 km) loops that will meet near Des Moines.

The Iowa Arboretum is a nonprofit arboretum located in Madrid, Iowa that encompasses 378 acres (153 ha). The grounds are open daily from sunrise to sunset.The arboretum was organized in 1966 by the Iowa State Horticultural Society on the society's 100th anniversary. Its mission is to grow, display, identify and study plants for education, research, conservation, aesthetics, and for personal enjoyment and recreation. The arboretum contains hundreds of species of trees, shrubs, and flowers arranged in collections spanning 40 acres (16 ha) as follows: Butterfly Garden, Children's Garden, Columnar Trees, Conifers, Dwarf Garden, Flowering Trees, Founders Grove, Herbs, Hostas, Large Deciduous Trees, Medium Deciduous Trees, Nut Trees, Perennials, Shade Garden, Shrubs, Trees for Poorly Drained Soils, Windbreak, Viburnnums, and Irises. In addition, the arboretum contains more than 120 acres (49 ha) of native timber with woodland trails, ravines, stream, and prairies.

Woodward is a city in Dallas County, Iowa, United States. The population was 1,346 at the time of the 2020 census. It is part of the Des Moines–West Des Moines Metropolitan Statistical Area. Woodward is also home to the Woodward-Granger Community School District's middle school and high school, the elementary school being located in Granger.

The Anthony M. McColl House is a historic dwelling located in Woodward, Iowa, United States. McColl settled in Dallas County, Iowa with his family in 1877. He was a local businessman who served as mayor of Woodward and two terms in the Iowa Senate as a Republican. He resigned his Senate seat to take a seat of the State Board of Control, which he served on for 18 years. He was also board chairman for several terms. While on the board he was able to influence the location of the "Iowa Hospital for Epileptics and School for Feeble Minded" in Woodward. It would later be called the Woodward State Hospital. McColl bought this property in 1900 while he was mayor. He had the house built 1903–1904 at the time he married Bessie Clyde Craft. The two-story frame structure represents the transitional architectural period from the popularity of the Queen Anne style to the Neoclassical. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

Bear Creek is a stream in the U.S. state of Iowa. It is a tributary to the Des Moines River. Bear Creek was named from a pioneer incident when hunter killed a bear near its course.

The Carl and Ulrika Dalander Cassel House is a historic residence located in Madrid, Iowa, United States. This Greek Revival structure is believed to be the oldest frame house in town. Built in 1862, it is associated with Swedish settlement in Iowa. Carl Cassel came with his father and the first group of immigrants to the Iowa Territory in 1845. They settled in a place they called New Sweden. Anna Dalander led another group of immigrants the following year and intended to settle in the same place, but they took the wrong river and ended up in Boone County. They named their settlement Swede Point, which was later renamed Madrid. Cassel married Dalander's daughter Ulrika in 1848. He and his brothers-in-law operated a grist mill. He also farmed and was involved in local politics. This house was located on the edge of his farm and the town. Cassel probably lived here until his death in 1902. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.
