Otterup

Until 1 January 2007 Otterup municipality was a municipality (Danish, kommune) in the former Funen County on the north coast of the island of Funen in central Denmark. The municipality included the island of Vigelsø, and covered an area of 169 km2. It had a total population of 10,973 (2005). Its last mayor was Bent Dyssemark, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Otterup. The municipality was created in 1970 as the result of a kommunalreform ("Municipality Reform") that merged a number of existing parishes: Bederslev Parish (Skam Herred) Hjadstrup Parish (Lunde Herred) Krogsbølle Parish (Skam Herred) Lunde Parish (Lunde Herred) Norup Parish (Lunde Herred) Nørre Højrup Parish (Skam Herred) Nørre Nærå Parish (Skam Herred) Otterup Parish (Lunde Herred) Skeby Parish (Lunde Herred) Uggerslev Parish (Skam Herred) Østrup Parish (Lunde Herred) Hundstrup Parish (Skam Herred) Kørup Parish (Skam Herred)Otterup municipality ceased to exist as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It was merged with existing Søndersø and Bogense municipalities to form the new Nordfyn municipality. This created a municipality with an area of 451 km2 and a total population of 28,655 (2005). The new municipality belongs to Region of Southern Denmark.

Lumby is a village, with a population of 808 (1 January 2023), to the north of Odense, in Funen, Denmark.

Uggerslev is a village in Nordfyn municipality on the island of Funen, Denmark, with a population of 354 (1 January 2023).

Stige is a large village and northern suburb of Odense, in Funen, Denmark. It lies on the northern side of the Odense Canal from Odense and is primarily residential.

Hauge is a historic village in Funen, Denmark, dated back to the Middle Ages (1397). It lies to the north of Odense Canal and is now a part of Stige.

The Odense River (Danish: Odense Å) is a river located on the island of Funen, in central Denmark. It is about 60 kilometres (37 mi) long and is named after the Funish capital, Odense, which it passes through. Boats can be rented by the river, offering a scenic ride to Fruens Bøge. Excursion boats offer rides to Carlslund, with jazz music some Saturdays during the Summer. During the Viking Age, the fortress Nonnebakken ensured its controller supremacy over the river.

Vigelsø is a small, uninhabited island in Odense Fjord, off the coast of Funen, Denmark. With an area of 132 hectares (330 acres), it is the largest island in the fjord and an important breeding ground for waterfowl and rest stop for migratory birds. It is part of the Special Area of Conservation No. SPC 94, Odense Fjord under the EU Habitat and Birds Directives.

The Fyn Power Station (Danish: Fynsværket) is a coal, straw and municipal waste-fired power station operated by Vattenfall in Odense, Denmark. It has eight units, three of which were operating as of 2010: unit 3, unit 7, and unit 8. Unit 3 has a power of 235 MW (coal), unit 7 of 362 MW (coal), unit 8 of 35 MW biomass), and Odense CHP plant 24 MW. Unit 7 has a 235 metres (771 ft) tall chimney, making it the second-tallest chimney in Denmark. Unit 3 is a 141 metres (463 ft) tall chimney.

Naesbyhoved Lake (Næsbyhoved Sø) was a lake in Denmark, 1 mile (1.6 km) north of Odense's current center. Measuring approximately 1.65 square kilometres (0.64 sq mi), it was the second largest lake on the island of Funen after Arreskov Lake, and was until desiccation in 1863, a popular destination for Odense's residents. A small part of the lake's eastern section is included in the Odense Canal and Odense Inner Harbour, which had been excavated in the years 1796 to 1804 (and subsequent expansion), while the rest of the parched land passed to include Åløkke Farm. The lake supported five islands: Store Thor Lund (and Little Thor Lund), Great Holm Brase, Brase Small Holm, Vieholmen and Gåseholmen. Naesbyhoved Castle (Næsbyhoved Slot) was on a peninsula from the lake's northern shore; it was destroyed during the Count's Feud in 1534.

Skibhusene is a small village and northeastern suburb of Odense, Denmark. The village is located at the end of Skibhusvej south of Odense Canal and industrial buildings. During the last decades the city of Odense has engulfed the village and today it is de facto a part of Odense.

Marienlystcentret is a sports complex located in Odense, Denmark. Its main venue is the stadium, which has a capacity of 1,200 and is home to the association football department of BK Marienlyst, which plays in the fourth-tier Denmark Series. The complex also contains an arena where the volleyball team and other sports teams are located.
