Slieve na Calliagh (Irish: Sliabh na Caillí or Sliabh na Cailleach, meaning 'the Cailleach's mountain') are a range of hills and ancient burial site near Oldcastle, County Meath, Ireland. The summit is 276 metres (906 ft), the highest point in the county. On the hilltops are about twenty passage tombs, some decorated with rare megalithic art, which were built in the 4th millennium BC. Also called the Loughcrew tombs, it is a protected National Monument and is one of the main passage tomb cemeteries in Ireland, along with Brú na Bóinne, Carrowkeel and Carrowmore.

Drumone (Irish: Droim Eamhna) is a small village and townland in western County Meath, Ireland.The local Roman Catholic church is dedicated to St. Mary and was built in 1834. A nearby disused Gaelic handball court dates to c.1920. The local GAA club is Moylagh GAA.

Oldcastle (Irish: An Seanchaisleán) is a town in County Meath, Ireland. It is located in the north-west of the county near the border with Cavan, approximately 13 miles (21 km) from Kells. The R154 and R195 regional roads cross in the town's market square. As of the 2022 census the town's population stood at 1,409, a growth rate of more than 70% since the 1996 census (which recorded a population of 826 inhabitants).

Munterconnaught (Irish: Muintir Connacht) is a civil and ecclesiastical parish of County Cavan, Ireland. It is located between the southern shores of Lough Ramor and the county boundary with County Meath.

Gibbonstown is a townland in County Westmeath, Ireland. The townland is located in the civil parish of Kilbride. The R400 regional road runs to the west of the area. The townland of Fearmore lies to the south, Gaulstown and Whitewell to the west, and the town of Rochfortbridge to the south.

Lough Ramor (Irish: Loch Ramhar) is a large natural lake of 741 hectares situated near Virginia, County Cavan. From early records Vita Tripartita identified as being in the territory of Cenal Muinreamhair. The literal meaning of the term Muinreamhair is 'fat-neck' and appears to be derived from a prehistoric or mythical ancestor warrior, connoting great strength. Loch Muinreamhair also appears in early manuscripts of the Four Masters. Lough Ramor is a proposed Natural Heritage Area (pNHA) and flows into the Blackwater, designated a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) under the Natura 2000 wildlife habitat conservation programme.

Moylagh (Irish: Maigh Locha, meaning "plain of the lake") is a civil parish and townland in the northwest of County Meath, Ireland. The townland Moylagh lies within the Roman Catholic parish of Oldcastle and Moylagh.

Lough Bane (Irish: An Loch Bán) is a lake on the border of County Meath and County Westmeath in Ireland. The county border runs east–west through the centre of the lake.Lough Bane forms part of the Lough Bane and Lough Glass Special Area of Conservation. The lake is the largest of three lakes in the SAC, the others being Lough Glass and Lough Glass North. Lough Bane is located about 10 km (6 mi) from Oldcastle, County Meath.

Virginia College, Cavan, formerly Virginia Vocational School Cavan, is the only secondary school in Virginia, Cavan, Ireland. It was founded in 1962. Situated beside Lough Ramor, it is a mixed school educating over 800 pupils. With three new extensions over the years (most recent in 2012), a new extension is being planned for summer 2024. the school houses three ICT suites and a language ICT lab. Results in state exams have increased significantly since its introduction in 2009. The Virginia school celebrated its 50th anniversary in September 2012. The motto of the school is "Tús Feasa Fiafraí", meaning "The beginning of knowledge is asking".

The Dungummin Ogham Stone, also known as the Clonkeiffy standing stone, is an ancient monument found on a field near a crossroads on the R194 road, south of Ballyjamesduff, County Cavan, in Ireland. The Ogham stone is sandstone, is about 1.6m tall, 0.48m wide and 0.36m in thickness, tapering in the cross section almost to a point. The inscription on the north-western side is a personal name, "OVOMANI". The western side of the stone is damaged. It was dated by S. Ziegler c. 500 – c. 550AD. The south side carries two crosses; in the west and north a cross is engraved.

Virginia (Irish: Achadh an Iúir, meaning 'field of the yew') is a town in County Cavan, Ireland. Founded in the 17th century as a plantation town, it now holds both local industry and commuter housing.
