Hokuto City Hometown Museum (北斗市郷土資料館, Hokuto-shi Kyōdo Shiryōkan) is a museum of local history in Hokuto, Hokkaidō, Japan that came into being after the city's formation in 2006. The museum is successor to the former Ōno Town Historical Museum (大野町郷土資料館), which had a collection of some five thousand items with a focus on agriculture, as Ōno is where rice-farming was brought to Hokkaidō. The collection of Hokuto City Hometown Museum includes artefacts from Yafurai-date that have been designated a Prefectural Tangible Cultural Property. In 2019, the museum held an exhibition of finds from the ninety or so Jōmon-period sites identified to date in Hokuto, including the Moheji Site: a spouted earthenware vessel with a figured design excavated at Moheji (茂辺地), together with fragments of a number of other vessels decorated with figures of human and non-human animals, has been designated an Important Cultural Property and is now in the collection of Tokyo National Museum. Since 2018, the museum has been focusing on re-examining the historical and cultural assets of Hokuto City, particularly Hekirichi Bastion Fort of Matsumae Clan, a nationally designated historic site and Japan's first Western-style star-shaped bastion fortress. The research emphasizes previously overlooked aspects of the practical application of contemporary European military theory, with findings shared through annual special exhibitions and public lectures. In addition to these efforts, since 2024, a research bulletin has been launched to publish research findings, which can be accessed online via Hokuto City's official website and the Nara National Research Institute for Cultural Properties’ repository site, "全国文化財総覧、Comprehensive Database of Cultural Heritage in Japan."

Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto Station (新函館北斗駅, Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto-eki) is a railway station on the Hakodate Main Line in Hokuto, Hokkaido, Japan, operated by the Hokkaido Railway Company (JR Hokkaido). The station – rebuilt and very extensively enlarged to serve from March 2016 as the northern terminal of the new Hokkaido Shinkansen – occupies the site of the former Oshima-Ōno Station (渡島大野駅), and is currently the northernmost high-speed Shinkansen railway station in Japan.

The Oshima Tunnel (渡島トンネル, Oshima tonneru) is a 32.675-kilometer-long (20.303 mi) railway tunnel that is under construction in southern Hokkaido. It will link the city of Hokuto with the town of Yakumo. The Oshima Tunnel will be a part of the Hokkaido Shinkansen, located between its current northern terminus at Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto Station and the planned Shin-Yakumo Station. Drilling began in 2016 and is set to finish in 2024. Upon its completion it will surpass the Hakkōda Tunnel in Aomori Prefecture as the longest terrestrial tunnel in Japan.

Hekirichi Bastion Fort (Japanese: 戸切地陣屋, romanized: Hekirichi Jinya, as historic site name: Hekirichi Bastion Fort of Matsumae clan site (松前藩戸切地陣屋跡, Matsumae Han Hekirichi Jinya ato) was a fortified administrative center of the Matsumae clan during the late Edo period, located in present-day Nozaki, Hokuto City, Hokkaido. It was the first in Japan to adopt a star-shaped bastion fort design based on European bastion-style fortification techniques and the army base selection and structure for artillery defense according to 19th-century European military theory. The name "Hekirichi" originates from the Ainu language "peker-pet" (meaning "beautiful-river" or "bright-river") and refers to the area surrounding the Hekirichi River, which flows west of the fort.

Nanae Station (七飯駅, Nanae-eki) is a railway station on the JR Hokkaido Hakodate Main Line. It is located in Nanae, Hokkaidō, Japan. It is operated by JR Hokkaido, and it has the station number "H71".

Kamiiso Dam (Japanese: 上磯ダム) is a rockfill dam located in Hokkaido Prefecture in Japan. The dam is used for irrigation. The catchment area of the dam is 56.8 km2. The dam impounds about 44 ha of land when full and can store 3620 thousand cubic meters of water. The construction of the dam was started on 1971 and completed in 1990.

Nanae (七飯町, Nanae-chō) is a town located in Oshima Subprefecture, Hokkaido, Japan. In April 2017, the town had an estimated population of 28,514, with 13,639 households, and a population density of 130/km2 (340/sq mi). The total area is 216.61 km2 (83.63 sq mi).

Nanbuzaka Dam (Japanese: 南部坂ダム) is a rockfill dam located in Hokkaido Prefecture in Japan. The dam is used for flood control. The catchment area of the dam is 12.7 km2. The dam impounds about 13 ha of land when full and can store 965 thousand cubic meters of water. The construction of the dam was started on 1986 and completed in 2009.

Kiyokawaguchi Station (清川口駅, Kiyokawaguchi-eki) is a railway station on the South Hokkaido Railway Line in Hokuto, Hokkaido, Japan, operated by South Hokkaido Railway Company.

Hokuto (北斗市, Hokuto-shi) is a city in the center of the Oshima Subprefecture in Japan's northern island of Hokkaido. It serves as a bedroom community for Hakodate, to the east of the city. Hokuto was formed on February 1, 2006, from merging the town of Kamiiso, from Kamiiso District, and the town of Ōno, from Kameda District. Hokuto is the third city to be established in Oshima. (The second, Kameda, no longer exists, being dissolved just two years after its founding in 1971). Hokuto is the second largest city in Oshima by population after the city of Hakodate.
